Okay, so today is going to be a bit shorter of a podcast but I wanted to share something that has been going through my mind this week, and that is about when someone or something disappoints you. Awareness We have all experienced disappointment at some point in our lives. This is something we’ve all faced at one time or another, but you know sometimes it just seems to come up and we have to deal with it. So what I am looking at today is trying to look at disappointment through another lens. Disappointment can be used as a teaching tool to bring clarity to what we truly want. And today I wanted to bring that into your awareness. And that I guess is how I teach, by bringing something into your awareness, especially if it is something I have been going through recently myself. I want you to see it for yourself, through your own lens and not just only through what I say or what others say. To me, awareness is the first step in healing. Awareness and recognition of the roots of what is behind the energy that keeps coming up. Because it is different for everybody, everyone has a slightly different trigger and a different set of circumstances. Overestimating and Falling Short So, let’s first talk about what disappointment is and the energy behind it. And I saw something online that seemed to sum it up pretty well. So, to me, disappointment shows up when we overestimate what someone else will do or not do. We give someone the benefit of the doubt or we have an expectation that does not get realized. Someone falls short of what they said they were going to do or someone doesn’t deliver the goods when they said they were going to. Focus on Feelings So, what kind of feelings come up when you think about being disappointed. For me, the first one is anger. I also think disappointment is made up of quite a few different emotions. Anger being one of them, but what else comes to mind…anxiety, fear, annoyance? If somebody doesn’t follow through and you are disappointed with them, what does that mean for you? It means maybe you are behind schedule, you have to do more than you thought you did. You have to quickly come up with something to finish a project. And all of it leads to you feeling down and perhaps even distrustful of someone else. Naming The Origins And this is something that comes up often during an Akashic record reading with my clients. So, during a reading we actually name the energy, and talk about how it is affecting you. It could be a variety of energies, like disappointment, drama, intimidation, guilt, or something else. The thing is, once you actually name the energy you can start to see where it creeps up in day to day interactions. During a reading we also talk about whether that occurred in a past life or in present life and the story or circumstances surrounding that energy. By naming it and understanding its’ origins, you really do start to look at your interactions with your friends, family, and co-workers in a completely different way. So, why would you ever be disappointed in someone else’s words or actions? Why would you ever be disappointed in yourself? You are a perfect, whole, and complete being and you can never disappoint the Divine. Why do we humans do this to ourselves? It is because at some level you might not be fully trusting yourself. Trusting Yourself Disappointment can come from not trusting yourself to take those actions you wanted to take. But God trusts you. Whether you call it Source or the Divine or Universal energies. She has complete and unsinkable faith in your ability to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve. So, why the doubt? Often, the doubt comes in because you have in one way or another felt like you disappointed yourself in the past and even though you might not have that as a main thought process at the moment, rather it is running in your subconscious mind, it infiltrates your current thoughts and plans and plants those seeds of doubt. Other seeds that go along with it are seeds of low self-esteem, low self-worth and having a low opinion of yourself. Broken Promises Another way we experience disappointment is because of broken promises, either perceived or real. So, think about all the types of promises being made to you and also the types of promises you make to yourself and others. If someone says they are going to do something or email you something, you most likely take them at their word, right? It is in our human nature to take someone at their word especially if we have built some level of trust with them. On the other side of things, think about all of the real or perceived promises you make each day to yourself or someone else. This could be anything from promising to take the garbage out in the morning to promising to write that blog post. And what I mean by a real or perceived promise is this: A real promise is when you actually say you are going to do something - as in you give your word. A perceived promise can show up as an agreement to do something, but is usually pre-qualified somehow. The Energy of "Trying" Here is a good one - if someone says they will “try”, which is a word I think needs to be stricken from our vocabulary. Think about the energy of the word “try. It is like a get out of jail free card. When you use that word you are energetically not giving your full commitment. So, if you take anything away from this podcast, start keeping a tally of how many times you use that word in the next week. If it is more than a few take a look at how that is playing out in your life. Do you need to stop overcommitting or do you need to say no more often? Usually the “I’ll try” phrase is used because we don’t want to disappoint. This can show up as needing to set better boundaries or also show up as people pleasing. Sneaky Self-Sabotage Disappointment also shows up as the discrepancy between what we really want and how clear we are about communicating our value to the world. It is a sneaky form of self-sabotage. When we want something so badly, we can easily get stuck in the "how" of getting what we want. We focus on how our desires will come to us, and when they don't come in the form we expect, we experience disappointment. So, basically we are trying to control everything to our own agenda and timing. I am sure that is not the first time you have heard this, but I want you to pause right now and think about something you want that hasn’t come to you yet. Are there any areas where you are trying to control the outcome or where you have put your own time frame into the mix? Just food for thought. Now, I know you have all heard about letting go and letting the Universe run its’ course, but have you really let the expectations go? How Bad Do You Want Something? Alternatively, have you thought you didn't really want something, and then when you didn't get it felt more disappointed than ever? It is a sign that you really wanted it more than you consciously thought. A lot of times we don’t want to get our hopes up and we tell ourselves we don’t want that. An example would be thinking you really didn't want that job promotion being offered in your company and then not even being considered as a candidate. All of a sudden your thinking changes to "Why was I not even considered for the job? Doesn't anyone see my value to the company? I can't believe they didn't even consider me for the position. They should know I wanted that. They should know I was qualified for that.” Also, you may consciously tell yourself that you don't need recognition from being mentioned publicly with your business. But then when no one even thinks to nominate you as a potential candidate for an award, you feel incredibly disappointed and perhaps ignored. That is where the sting comes in. It helps you to understand that you really did want the recognition, and that is perfectly okay for you to feel that way. Clarity Comes From Disappointment Overcoming disappointment can often bring clarity to what you really wanted. Many times we tell ourselves that something doesn't really matter to us and we say we don't want that, such as in a promotion or publicity for your business. It makes you wonder if what you are putting out to the Universe is heard in the way you intended. How do you know if it is something you really wanted? It is the sting that comes when you don't get it, or don't even get mentioned as a possible candidate. Although the feeling is no fun to sit through, it often can bring the clarity needed to allow yourself to say "Yes, I really wanted that". It really is okay to want the promotion or recognition or to want something more. The next step is to take a good hard look at what you have put out to the Universe and see if your perception of yourself is the same as what others are seeing. Getting Clear On Your Value If you have been disappointed that others are not seeing you for your efforts in the workplace or even at home here is some food for thought: Are the thoughts, words, and signals that you are sending out matching what others are hearing? You may think that people really know what you are about, but is that what is actually coming out on the surface? What do you need to do to become recognized as you want? Does what you say and do match how others think of you and think about your work? If you have done what you can and your efforts have still gone unnoticed, it is time for some self-promotion. How often do you let others know about what you are working on or what you have accomplished? Or do you just secretly hope that others will notice your efforts? Gaining Clarity You first need clarity about what you are offering and the value you are providing. Then you need to communicate that clearly to others, and in some cases shouting it from the rooftops. You may have to do this over and over and it might take longer than you think it will. There is a difference between blatantly promoting yourself to the point of being grandiose, but think about if you are not promoting yourself at all or enough. So, I think there is a balance between there. You can step up and speak and talk about what you have to offer without coming off as being very self-serving or grandiose. If you don't own the value of what you offer, it is going to be really hard for someone else to see it within you. Overcoming Disappointment By Letting Go Of The How Now let’s talk about overcoming disappointment by letting go of the how. This is perhaps one of the toughest things to get clear on. Focusing on your intended outcome without focusing on exactly how you are going to receive it can be difficult. By trying to state exactly how something is to come into our lives, we cut off so many other avenues and ways that our intended result could come to us. The thing most important to understand is that in most cases, the exact way of how is not even necessarily on our radar screen at the moment. The Universe has more than a few ways to bring you what you want. The Energy Behind The Energy I also wanted to give you a few tips for working through this energy and for any other energies as well. When you have a situation that shows up in your life that’s causing you distress and unrest and really looking at the energy behind the energy. When it comes to the energy of disappointment, to be looking at and acknowledging exactly why you were disappointed with whatever the outcome was. If somebody said they were going to email you something by a certain date or you have asked for it a couple of times and they still haven’t gotten back to you about it and you are feeling kind of disappointed in them, like “Hey! They’re not coming through.” Okay, so what exactly is the energy behind that? Is it that you looked up to that person and now here they are coming back and they are not following through? That could be one possibility. Is it that you set your expectations too high? The time frame…was it really realistic? Maybe you don’t know something about what was going on and things came up. So to be looking at where does that feeling of anger or anxiety show up? What does it mean for you? Does it mean extra work? Does it mean that you have to pull a rabbit out of a hat and get something else in place because this isn’t working in the time frame you wanted? It’s all about letting go and those expectations. That’s all part of it. Name That Energy Okay, then the next step would be actually naming that energy. And to do this when you are thinking about a situation ask yourself, “What is the first thing that pops into your head?” And that is about using your intuition. What is the first word or maybe a phrase that pops into your head? And a lot of times this is where people might hear a snippet of a song, or an opening to a television show. You might get a specific image of some family member from your past where the same energy was there. That is the first thing - what does it remind you of? What is the first thing when you are feeling angry or annoyed or fearful? What is the first thing that jumps into your mind? So, that’s a clue. That’s a part of the path. That is putting a name to that energy. That is the underlying energy. The energy behind it. The energy behind the energy and putting a name to that. Where Is The Pattern? And then looking at “Is this a pattern?” “Does this happen frequently?” And in a lot of cases it will. Maybe you could name three or four different people where there has been the exact same scenario showing up. When you can name three or four people that’s a pattern, right? That’s a pattern. And then you go and start looking at, all right, let’s look at my chunk of the healing. What am I bringing to this situation? Am I constantly having higher expectations than is good? Am I putting certain people on a pedestal? That could be a possibility. Or maybe you are overestimating what could be done in a timeframe. So just some things to think about and to look at. Tips For Overcoming Disappointment If you really are having some difficulty with feeling very angry with what’s going on, here are just a few ideas to get yourself out of dwelling on the situation and regaining perspective. So, it’s definitely one thing to go down the path for healing purposes to make the connections and find those patterns. That is what healing is all about. Whether is is past life connections, whether it is present life, different jobs…where ever the connections are…maybe it was your mom that disappointed you or a father, but to be looking at for the sake of looking at it for healing. How To Work Through Disappointment But there is another level of dwelling in that energy and that is definitely not helpful to you. It is definitely not good. Think of these as reminders because it’s not anything you haven’t heard before but sometimes we all just need a reminder and once in a while something kind of jumps out for you. Music - Play your favorite music loud and sing along. Something upbeat. Dance - movement is one of the best ways to change your vibration. Walking - If you are not a dancer, try going out for a walk. Keep your head held high looking towards the sky. Keep your eyes focused on the horizon, not looking at the ground. Exercise - Concentrate on how well you are doing the movements within your specific exercises. It helps you place your focus on something else. Housecleaning works wonders too. Laugh - If a friend isn't available, find funny cartoons or videos online and laugh your way out of the funk. Find your favorite comedian. Trust - Realize the Universe may have something better in mind or a better way to deliver it to you than the way you thought. Meditation - Use a specific meditation to work on your feelings like Dissolve Anger, Forgive for Good, and Be Emotionally Strong. Not sure where to start? I know I didn’t necessarily say what the situation was specifically about. I guess I am choosing not to put that out there publicly at this point. Claim Healing For Yourself Disappointment is something everybody deals with. Maybe not every day, but it comes up, so just know that it’s all well and good and it’s there for you to claim a piece of healing for yourself, to discover a pattern, at if it is something that keeps coming up and you are unsure about it, I would love to work with you in the course of a reading. Whether that’s a written reading or a phone reading, I do both, just to help you get clarity on where those energies are showing up, why there are there, whether it occurred in a past life or not, and then do some additional healing and energy clearing around that. I just want to say I deeply appreciate all of you who listen in to my podcast. I am having a great time producing it and I hope some of what I talk about hits home for you. This is the fourth podcast on how to recognize and develop your metaphysical senses, so if you missed the others from a few weeks ago on clairvoyance, clairaudience, and claircognizance you might want to go back and have a listen. Clairsentience (which means clear sensing) is one of the four metaphysical senses, the others being clairvoyant (clear seeing), clairaudient (clear hearing), and claircognizant (clear knowing). It is one of your four metaphysical senses in addition to your five physical senses. What is Clairsentience (Clear Sensing)? Clairsentience is a metaphysical sense that relates to recurring physical and emotional feelings. This is known as clear feeling and signifies Divine guidance. One way I would describe it is this…If you have ever had a physical or emotional feeling wash over you without a discernible connection to what you were currently thinking about, you have probably just experienced clairsentience. This is the ability to sense or feel vibrational frequencies to such a strong degree that you actually receive a physical sensation. It relates to recurring physical and emotional feelings. It is about you being able to trust what you are feeling. So, to start things off, I thought I would share with you is a personal example of clairsentience from one of my prior jobs: I would drive to work and even before I parked and got out of the car, I would look toward the office door and there were times when I would get a strong feeling my boss is already upset. Sure enough, I could tell before I talked to her or walked in the building that something had gone on with a customer or there had been an upset in her personal life. By receiving this information before walking inside the office, it allowed me a few extra moments of mental preparation. I was able to put the proper energy shields in place so I could remain focused on the current issues. How To Recognize Clairsentience Okay, so now I want to take about how to recognize clairsentience and many of these are actually physical ways, meaning you will feel it within your body. Physical Impact of Clairsentience Stomach aches, sweaty palms, instantly getting angry, hair standing up on the back of your neck, a tingling sensation in your back, or maybe your heart fluttering little bit and sometimes even feeling ill, depending on the situation. These symptoms are all quite common and indicative of experiencing a heightened type of clairsentience. Perhaps you feel sad or anxious all of a sudden without reason, or feel an unexplained sense of foreboding. You may also experience physical symptoms that belong to someone else and just seem to come out of nowhere. When this occurs it is time to look deeper at why you are getting the message. It may mean changing your travel plans or course of action. We’ll talk more about that at the end of the podcast. Questions To Ask Yourself Here are some important questions to ask yourself when you have such a feeling. The first one and I think it is probably one of the most important; Is the feeling my own? Really think about that…is the feeling your own? If not, whose name comes to mind? Another question you can ask yourself…What was I thinking about just before I had the feeling? And another one…Who was I thinking about just before I had the feeling? Empathy One of the big parts of Clairsentience is empathy. Empathy is the ability to tune in, sense, and feel other people’s emotions. You can experience a range of happy or sad emotions or somewhere in-between, but the difference is they are not your own feelings. It is kind of like walking a fine line with empathy. Being able to feel another person’s pain is a form of compassion. However, if you continue to experience someone else’s emotions, it’s really time to think about using some clearing techinques and to also look at where you are allowing anything within your personal power to be dissipated. So, additional clearing techniques are probably going to be very helpful at this point. Overactive Empathy If you keep picking up on the emotions and feelings of someone else, what that is is overactive empathy. So, that is empathy taken to the next level where you are actually tuning in too much to somebody else’s feelings or emotions. If you find yourself doing that a lot, sometimes it is tougher to turn off, but there are energy clearing techniques that are helpful in order to kind of reign in that empathy, so that it is not totally overactive. Some of them involve blocking or mirroring and it depends where you are at which one might work better for you. Because otherwise you end up walking around and picking up other people’s emotions left and right. And that is not good for you! It’s not good for anyone. Are You Constantly "On"? If you are constantly “on” and picking up other people’s feelings and emotions, it is so easy to get them confused with your own. Once you are consciously aware of this you will be able to realize when that is happening and be able to use your own energy, just by having that conscious awareness. To take back your own energy and go “no…I’m done here. I’m not tapping in anymore and I know the difference.” While I have a lot more to say about overactive empathy as it is something that has affected me quite a bit, let’s just say for now if you feel perpetually drained because you keep feeling the emotions of someone else, you are more than likely experiencing overactive empathy. Without going into too much detail on this as I plan to do another podcast on the subject, often one of the root reasons or causes of overactive empathy is related to the third chakra, the power chakra. So, you might be giving your power away to someone else. I understand that might leave you wondering and asking more questions, but I would really like to explain it in more depth, so I will do an upcoming show dedicated to overactive empathy, as I know it bothers many of you that are highly intuitive. Psychometry Okay, so let’s move on to another way to recognize clairsentience and that is psychometry. This is one area that doesn’t seem to be talked about quite so much, but to me, it is a very fascinating area. It is the ability to use touch to gain information about an object that you are holding. So, have you ever picked up an object and gotten a sensation or feeling from it? That is using psychometry. Not everyone has developed this ability and for some of you it might be only when it is a familiar object that someone you know has owned, such as a piece of grandma’s jewelry. Psychometry uses touch to gain information about a situation by holding an object and tuning in to its energetic frequency. Jewelry is often an object of choice, as it has had direct contact with a specific person. Maybe they have worn a ring or put a necklace on. Using psychometry often can tell personality traits about another using an object held in the hand. You can also pick up on past events and situations through visions and impressions received from holding an artifact. Jewelry is really a lot of times the biggest one as it has had direct contact with another person. Fragrances Clairsentience also involves fragrances. Sensitivity to smells like fragrances is another way to feel and sense energy. Many people report smelling the favorite flower or perfume of a deceased loved one, even though that scent failed to be present in the home. I don’t know if you have ever had the experience, but, you might be walking through your house or maybe you are cleaning out a loved ones house and it is months later and you just catch a whiff of that person’s perfume. You just catch a whiff of their favorite flower. Even though there is no way the scent was actually present at that moment. It really is so wonderful when that type of thing happens. It is validation from spirit that the person is there and they are with you. Sensitivity To Touch Another part of clairsentience is having a real and heightened sensitivity to touch, as in the laying on of hands to another person and how you notice and you feel the changes. If you are in the healing arts already, like if you are doing Reiki, or some other type of massage therapy, or many other type of hands on healing, the clairsentience and the feeling that goes with that, you will be able to much easier pick up the changes within another person. Sensitivity to touch becomes useful to discern areas of the body needing attention and healing. You might be able to feel hot or cold spots on a person’s body while doing massage therapy, for example. Also, being clairsentient, don’t actually expect to have so much of a visual experience. You will experience your intuition through your feelings and you will sense or feel your Spirit Guides. You will be able to sense them near you and what they look like and even sense the messages they have for you. You are able to feel another person’s pain and that can be very helpful at times. If you are really trying to help understand where someone else is coming from or they are feeling very sad you are reaching in to them and feeling their pain along with them so that you can understand it, that’s fine, but watching out for letting that continue on all the time. Sudden Sadness Another way you can experience clairsentience is the feeling of feeling sad - especially all of a sudden. So, sudden sadmess. You may just feel like something is coming over you. You just feel so sad. You may be very anxious and there is no reason. It can feel like an unexplained sense of foreboding and other times it will be literal physical symptoms like the hair standing up on the back of your neck. What I want to say about this is listening to what you are getting and understanding the difference; “is this me feeling that way or is this coming THROUGH me and am I feeling it from another?” You could change your travel plans, your course of action for the day of what you were going to do because of these feelings. If someone brings up “let’s go over here!” and you all of a sudden have a stomach cramp, almost immediately. That would be a very good indication that you should NOT be following through with that. You might find yourself saying “Hey no, let’s do something else.” So, there are a few important questions to ask yourself when you have those types of feelings. This is some of what I said in the beginning and I will repeat it. The first one: Is the feeling my own? And if not, whose feeling do you think it was? Whose was it? Usually the first name that comes to mind is correct. Think about how everything and everybody is connected and think about your recent contact with that person. Was it a good experience? Was there something undiagnosed that you haven’t had enough time to dive into and think about a little bit more? Another question, what was I thinking about just before I had the feeling? That is another good indication. Who was I thinking about just before I had the feeling? So, those are some questions to ask yourself when you have experiences come through and you are not sure as far as their origin. How To Develop Clairsentience So, let’s talk a little bit about developing Clairsentience. Here is an example of clairsentience: So you know when you are faced with a decision how you can sit and analyze it for hours or days even sometimes? You can come up with all sorts of things to change your mind, numerous times back and forth. So what you really want to do is try feeling into that resistance. Which choice feels best? Be on notice of the thoughts and feelings that come up immediately afterwards, particularly the feelings. That can be a lot of times where the dissonance is hiding. That is where the doubt is hiding. What is behind those feelings? Where do you feel it in your body? How do you feel it in your body? Sometimes it is just a single word answer it really doesn’t have to be much more complicated than that. It is just like trust. Trusting what you get. You can trust the clairaudient message that you get. Here it’s about trusting the clairsentient message that you get, the feeling that you get. If you are getting a feeling of yuck and foreboding on a choice, listen to that. Follow that. It’s there for you. That’s what it is. It is helping you connect and when you are primarily clairsentient that is one of the easiest ways…listening to your feelings. How do you feel about it? Yes or No. We’re moving forward or we’re not moving forward. Conclusion So, I hope this has helped you recognize the sign posts of Clairsentience and given you some clarity on identifying your intuitive abilities. How To Develop Clairaudience

Join me on today’s Intuitive Journal Podcast where we are continuing on with our series on the four main metaphysical senses. Two weeks ago we talked about clairvoyance. We are going to continue on with the second metaphysical sense and that is Claircognizance. We are going to take a look at how to recognize Claircognizance and also how to further develop this intuitive ability. If I were to sum up how claircognizance works in a few words, it would be this: “How do you know what you know?” or “Well, I just know, but I don’t know how I know.” I think this is one of the least understood intuitive abilities because it seems a lot easier to recognize an intuitive vision - which would be clairvoyance, or intuitively sense something - which would be clairsentience, or intuitively hear a word or a phrase - which would be clairaudience, than it is to recognize Claircognizance. I am your host, Laurra Warnke and the author of the blog, IntuitiveJournal.com. I just want to say I appreciate all of you who keep listening to my very new podcast. I am having a great time producing it and I hope some of what I talk about hits home for you. So, today we are talking about Claircognizance. We are going to take a look at how to recognize Claircognizance and also how to further develop this intuitive ability. If I were to sum up how claircognizance works in a few words, it would be this: “How do you know what you know?” or “Well, I just know, but I don’t know how I know.” One of the Least Understood Intuitive Abilities I think this is one of the least understood intuitive abilities because it seems a lot easier to recognize an intuitive vision - which would be clairvoyance, or intuitively sense something - which would be clairsentience, or intuitively hear a word or a phrase - which would be clairaudience, than it is to recognize Claircognizance. But in a few minutes, I will give you some ways to recognize it when it shows up and also some ways to further develop this ability. You Might Not Feel Very Intuitive So, often people who possess Claircognizance abilities will not think they are very intuitive at all. This is because this ability only seems to show up when it is necessary, which may not be that often. Also, those who are Claircognizant might not think of themselves as very emotional or as touchy-feely people. Often, Claircognizant people are mentally oriented, logical, cerebral, or analytical in nature. For some of you this is your primary intuitive modality, and for others it might show up as a secondary ability. Those who are more familiar with the other metaphysical senses may still experience claircognizance or “clear knowing” from time to time. Claircognizance - Clear Knowing So, what exactly does it mean to experience Claircognizance? Claircognizance is, well the short version is clear knowing. It’s a gut sense in which you just know something to be correct, but you might not be able to back up your statement with fact or how you came into that information. Often you just “know” the answer. Do you finish other people’s sentences before you know the answer, even before they can finish the thought? Do you find yourself knowing immediately if someone is lying to you, even though you have nothing concrete to back that up? Do pieces of information just randomly pop into your head that you know are correct, especially when they arrive out of context? That’s using Claircognizance. It can also come in the form of predictions or premonitions and it is really just a feeling of certainty or correctness. You can also feel it directly in your gut, or stomach area, your solar plexus. You might feel a lurch in your abdomen or literally like someone hit you with a punch and knocked the air out of you. How Do You Know That? You might have an odd or uncanny knowledge of certain places or events, situations or people without actually having received this information in a traditional manner. As in no one told it to you or you didn’t learn it in a book or a newspaper. You might just have a house number randomly pop into your mind and know you have to get in the car and drive to that location right away. It just comes across as a sense of foreboding sometimes or even déjà vu. It is just like that gut feel of “I know that’s correct”, or “I know that’s right”. It is the ability to recognize receiving sudden insights and understanding regarding a question or situation in your life. Claircognizance means clear knowing of something that may have happened in the past, present, or future about a situation of your own or someone else. A Combination Of Intuitive Hits I like to think of Claircognizace as a combination of all those other intuitive hits that flew underneath the radar. Think of the puzzle pieces that didn’t fit and when you had a piece of intuitive information and you didn’t know what to do with it, so you just let it go. So, you may have been receiving intuitive nuggets for a long time about something your Guides want you to know about, but might not have known how to put them together or make sense of them. Claircognizance comes along and ties everything together into a big bunch of knowing - rather like when you put last piece in place and complete the puzzle. Claircognizance gives you a fully formed picture of a situation. The Chakra Connection I used to think that Claircognizance was connected to your crown chakra or your 7th chakra - mainly because of the clear knowing part and it being a rather mentally oriented sense. But the more I have experienced this the more I understand it is also related to your power chakra - which is also called your 3rd chakra or solar plexus chakra. I say this because any time I have ever experienced this myself it always seems to hit me in the gut first. It then seems to send that signal of inner knowing to my brain. So, I guess you could more clearly think of those two chakras - the 3rd and the 7th as interconnected in this instance. I also feel it is connected to the power chakra because often you have to stand up for your intuitive knowing, even when you don’t have facts to back it up and that takes a great deal of personal power and self-confidence in order to not listen to someone telling you it is nothing more than an overactive imagination and sheepishly brushing your intuitive hit under the rug. How To Recognize Claircognizance Okay, so now let’s talk about how to recognize Claircognizance, because often you will identify with the other metaphysical senses first and not think you use or have this ability. I think one of the biggest misconceptions or areas of confusion around this ability is that you might not feel particularly intuitive at all. A client shared with me that he didn’t feel very intuitive and had a friend who could hear her Guides chattering away to her all the time. He felt he didn’t experience that type of connection and wondered if he could hear his Guides at all. It turns out that one of the main ways his Guides delivered information to him was in the form of Claircognizance or clear knowing. So, here are a fews ways to recognize Claircognizance when it comes through: I believe that many people have this ability, but much of the information can go without validation. Some of the things you may “know” can cause upset, confusion, and stress in others. They may be unreceptive to validating your “knowing” if you fail to have documented proof of what you are sharing. You Just Know The Answer In many cases, this “knowing” may go against everything others tell you about a situation. It can certainly be isolating when you are the only one who is saying different and the general consensus says the total opposite. It is something that you just have an idea about and you just don’t quite understand how the information came to you, but you know the answer. This is probably the biggest key here. You may not necessarily be able to back up your statement with any fact or how you actually got that information. If somebody questioned you on the spot and said “well how do know that?” you are very likely to say “I just know.” Just the Facts, Ma'am A lot of times this can go without getting validated because sometimes you know things and it can cause yourself to be upset or others to be upset and cause stress in others. Others might not be so receptive to you saying what you are saying. They don’t believe you, because you don’t have any facts to back it up. Just because you don’t have that documented proof, of what you are telling them doesn’t mean it’s not correct or true. Claircognizance is an awesome sense to have. What I want you to know is that you can trust it. It gets to be a little sticky at times. “I don’t know how I can prove that. I don’t know how I know that”. But it is about trusting because you will be correct a very, very high percentage of the time. You Just Know The Next Step in the Path, You Know It is Time for Change The next way to recognize Claircognizance is literally from that inner knowledge. You just know the next step in the path or you might just know it is time for change. You might wake up in the middle of the night with a deep inner knowing that you have to make a major life change like moving or leaving a relationship and that you have to do it now. To me this is your Guide’s way of getting a clear message to you about an issue, especially if you have been procrastinating about a decision. There is no more time for thinking about something, and it is now time to take action. You just know what you have to do next. Why this can be difficult is often we don’t feel ready to actually make that change, but at a soul level it is a necessary change. When A Decision is Made Another way to recognize Claircognizance is to look at times when some sort of a decision has been made. I think one of the ways it shows up for a lot of us is when you or someone else makes a decision, particularly a major life decision. Here is an example of how it might show up for you: Say your spouse has been looking for a job, has offers for two of them, and you might have been trying very hard to remain open to either possibility. He then tells you he has made a decision on which job to take. At that very moment it might feel like someone punched you in the gut, and then it went directly to your brain and said “Noo!” out loud, with the knowing that this job wasn’t going to work out, even though logically it sounded great. Timing Here is another example that I personally experienced and it deals with timing. A friend of ours called and offered up a motorcycle for sale to us. We had seen the bike and it was beautiful. When my husband got off the phone and told me of the offer to sell it to us, I immediately knew we were supposed to have the bike. It was a gut feeling of elation and I knew we had to act on it right away. My response was, “How are we going to do this?”, which was referring to the money aspect of things as we were young and didn’t have a lot of savings at that point. There was no additional discussion and it was a gut knowing. I just knew that the timing was right and that motorcycle was supposed to be ours. We bought it and we still own it over 20 years later. By the way, if you are in to motorcycles, it was a 1986 Harley Davidson Softail in the original red and cream colors. Just a gorgeous bike! Speed Okay, so that leads me into the next way you can recognize claircognizance and that is speed. When you receive a claircognizant hit it is usually very quick. Both the intuitive hit itself and also the situation it was referring to. For example say a friend asks you to go to a party with them. You might get an immediate hit or knowing that you are not supposed to attend that party. The other way speed plays a part is you taking action on that intuitive hit. So, when you get that inner knowing, deep in your gut that it’s time for change, that’s your cue to take action. That is your cue to do something. You Say Things Out Of Context You can also receive Claircognizant hits just moments before something happens and can find yourself saying things that seem out of context or that have nothing to do with your current conversation. This is an interesting phenomena as you could have a random thought pop into your head like “slow down, there is a speed trap just ahead”, and then shortly after you see an officer with their radar on sitting by the side of the road. You can also receive these nuggets of knowing both for yourself and others. Doesn’t Need Interpretation Another way to recognize claircognizance is that the message you receive, unlike the other three clairs, requires almost no or very little interpretation, You usually get just a clear “yes” or “no” response or that deep inner knowing and often you don’t know why you know something to be correct. In contrast, the other clairs can send you mixed messages like a metaphorical image to make sense of or a phrase or song that is open to interpretation. How to Develop Claircognizance Okay, so let’s talk about a few ways to develop Claircognizance. Taking Action The first way is literally by taking action on the piece of knowledge you now have in your hands. Did you get a hit to take another road instead of the one you were traveling? Did you follow that advice or did you brush it off and stay on the same road? The more you follow those intuitive hits, the stronger all of your intuitive abilities become. Will this sometimes be inconvenient? Yes, and you might look or sound silly in the process. Just dashing off out of the house with little notice can make your family and friends do a double take. My advice would be follow your intuition now and explain things to your family later. Automatic Writing Another way to develop Claircognizance is by making use of automatic writing in order to connect with your Spirit Guides and get answers to some of your questions. I will put a link to my posts on automatic writing in the show notes for those of you who are unfamiliar with it. Essentially, automatic writing is sitting down with pen and paper, or at the computer, asking a question, and then asking Spirit to come through while you write down what you receive. You can use automatic writing for developing other metaphysical senses such as clairaudience, but I find it most helpful for Claircognizance when you add the element of speed and timing. So, what that means is to set a timer for say, one minute and write down everything that comes to mind during that one minute. You could even use a shorter time frame like 30 seconds. The point is to use speed to your advantage when doing automatic writing so that you don’t second guess or try to “sort out” any intuitive responses. Meditation Another way you can develop Claircognizance is through meditation. It can help you gain clear knowing because you are quieting the mind and then the answers can come through to you a lot quicker and a lot easier. So, I hope this has helped you recognize the sign posts of Claircognizance and given you some food for thought if you have wondered about your intuitive abilities. So, today I want to talk about the Christmas holiday. The period between Thanksgiving and Christmas can bring up a lot of mixed emotions. Some of you are truly looking forward to getting together with friends and family and it brings feelings of love, joy, and happiness. For others, perhaps you are not as excited at the prospect of seeing all those relatives you only see once per year and you might experience some feelings of dread or anxiety. Memories of past unpleasant situations or verbal exchanges can affect your ability to have a positive attitude and outlook this holiday season. Often loved ones pass away during this time of year and it can be a melancholy time of wishing they were still with us. Perhaps someone you really cared for is no longer with you or has recently passed on. The holiday season is also a busy time and it is easy to get overwhelmed. We get so wrapped up in the to-do list that it becomes easy to be short with people. Also, I think we all have a few family members that can push our buttons from time to time. Unresolved Feelings and Old Issues Stress, fear, anxiety, and depression can take their toll on anyone this time of year. Past holiday experiences can bring up unresolved feelings and old issues. Perhaps an expectation you had has been not met or someone disappointed you deeply. A broad range of previously buried or forgotten feelings, like hurt, anger, and pain can creep up during a holiday celebration when you are again faced with seeing the same people. Those feelings are making themselves known for a reason. It is because your soul wants the healing from that issue. Your soul wants the healing to begin. For me personally, the Christmas season falls somewhere in the middle. It is stressful because we have always traveled to my parent’s house for Christmas - for the past 30 years. They own a dairy farm and it is very difficult for them to get away so we always go there. I still love visiting, but there are some things that continually happen or get said that used to drive me crazy. It took a lot of years and a lot of healing to come to appreciate what I do love about my family and be able to overlook some of those things. So, I thought for today’s podcast we could all use a little presence and mindfulness for this holiday season. With so many things to do you can end up feeling overwhelmed. For today’s show I have put together a few tips and ideas to practice mindfulness, overcome holiday stress, and keep your sanity. So, here are a few things to keep in mind as we are already in the middle of the holiday season. Christmas can be a healing holiday if you intend to make it that way. Enjoy and take in as much as you can. January will be here before you know it. Here are a few gentle reminders to bring healing into your upcoming family gatherings during this Christmas season. The first one is to remember to breathe. Remember to Breathe Many times we get stressed out from family, shopping, or extra cooking and forget to pay attention to our breathing. Take a few moments and center your mind on your breath. By going within, you can keep your mind focused on the tasks at hand. Remembering to breathe can also clear your thoughts enough to keep you from saying something you may later regret if tensions within your family are running high. Be Present We have many parts of our holiday gatherings that we love. There may also be parts that we would love to change. Focus on being present with the parts that make you feel good and feel connected. Do you have a favorite activity that you do every year? Rather than just going through the motions, be present with as many aspects as you can and engage yourself. Fully engage yourself. Also stay in the present moment. All too often we start thinking about what happened in a past Christmas or in the past year or about what will change in the future. Looking at the past or future just leads to unnecessary stress. By staying in the present moment you can enjoy your visits and activities a lot more. Noticing If you are visiting a relative’s home, notice and observe. Take in the decorations and find something that you connect to. Is there a decoration you have always admired? Tell them and give them a compliment! Notice how everything feels and the atmosphere of the home. Notice what your body is telling you too during this time. Your body is always giving you feedback. Gift yourself the gift of extra rest. Turn down that party invitation and take a night off instead. Practice Mindfulness Being mindful helps us stay in control when it comes to indulging in food or drink. There always seems to be a lot of extra high sugar and high calorie foods around that tempt us. Enjoy your favorites but allow yourself to pass on some of the extras. Particularly pay attention to what your body is telling you and what you have learned about your body from the past. For example, if dairy products bother you during the year, they will still bother you during the holidays, so you may choose to not have something with dairy products in it. Embracing Holiday Gatherings – Seeing Your Family Through A New Lens Okay, now I want to talk about those holiday gatherings and hopefully seeing your family members and loved ones through a different lens, a new lens. Getting together with family members whom you may see only once or twice a year can bring up emotions that you thought you have gotten past a long time ago. It may seem like you have to put on your suit of armor to go to a family function. So, you of course have a choice to attend or not. You have a choice to invite someone into your home or not. But before you make that choice, I wanted to talk about Unity and how we are all ONE. These days everyone seems on edge with each other particularly with opposing political viewpoints. You know how it goes…you see a family member post something political on Facebook and you can’t believe how they can see things that way. And it goes both ways you know - Democrat or Republican or some other political leaning, it doesn’t really matter. You are going to have conflicts and you are going to have differences of opinion. If the thought of talking about politics or other touchy subjects brings about feelings of dread and anxiety, I invite you to try looking at it from a different lens. Sometimes this isn’t the easiest thing to do especially if we are on edge, but I encourage you to view your family members through the lens of oneness. We are all one. We are all ONE. Can you get past those feelings and to the knowing that we are all on this Earth for the same purpose? Every person is at a different point in their life path, that’s all. Everyone has a different answer to how to fix a problem. Everyone has a different point of view. Everyone has had a different set of circumstances and we will never know the entire story of someone else’s thought process. Again, we are all one in Unity. So, when the same old stories come up, when the same attitudes show up at the dinner table, how can you promote Unity? When the same poor comments on how come you aren’t married yet come up or some other equally obnoxious comment, can you turn down the flames of anger and come to a place of peace inside of you? How can you see the common thread amongst all of us? And you know, this is not just about the holidays. This is every day of the year. Now, you may or may not say anything out loud to anyone else in the room, but I invite you to make peace if only in your mind, with family members whom you don’t agree with and focus on the things you do have in common. Commonality goes a long way in overlooking someone’s political viewpoints, and like I said, this goes both ways. Forgiveness So, now let’s go a step further and talk about forgiveness. You may never agree with what has been said or done in the past, but can you forgive? You don’t need to agree with someone’s point of view or someone’s reason, to forgive them. Forgiveness is for yourself. Forgiveness allows healing for yourself. Forgiveness is not giving somebody a pass on something wrong, or that was perceived as wrong. Forgiveness is healing for you, to just not have it be there for you anymore. To know that you have worked through that and it’s done. Can you finally get past the hurt and emotion and see that person and the role they played in a situation? Can you see them through the eyes of oneness and wholeness? Again, we are all one. When a situation arises that gets your emotions to run wild, practice saying these words: I love you, Please forgive me, I’m Sorry, Thank You. I love you, Please forgive me, I’m Sorry, Thank You. This is a form of Ho’oponopono, a forgiveness meditation and healing technique that, said repeatedly will bring calm and peace to any situation. I invite you to add this to your spiritual toolbox for any situation and for any time of year. I love you, Please forgive me, I’m Sorry, Thank You. The Gift of Holiday Healing You have the full ability to heal from your past. It all starts with a decision and an intention that you want, whatever the issue is, to fade out of your consciousness and become a thing of the past and will not continue to to affect you in your present life. That can be easier said than done, in some cases. The point is to acknowledge that you want to begin the healing process. That is all you need to do for now. Acknowledge that you want to begin the healing process. The rest will come in its due time. Enjoy the Moment and Live in the Present When we think about getting together with family during the holidays, often we take a trip down memory lane to the last unpleasant thing that was said or done. I invite you to take a moment to be present and to savor what you do enjoy, whether it be the holiday lights, the smell of cookies baking or anything that brings a bit of joy to you day. By living in the present, thoughts of the past really can be let go and dissolved. Giving and Receiving Let’s talk a little about giving and receiving. There are so many things you can give to someone else besides a physical present or in addition to a physical gift. Often we feel spiritually depleted but in reality you are perfect, whole, and complete just as you are. You have enough extra in your spiritual well to be able to give. You also have the ability to receive in the same amount. So, here are some things you can both give and receive that won’t cost you an extra cent this holiday season. Give An Extra Hug How about that extra hug? Don’t hold back this time. It is okay to hug! Children need about 12 hugs a day and as adults, I think we still need 12 hugs a day. Reach out and give that relative or friend that you know has been going through some hard times an extra hug when you see them. Let them know that you are really glad to see them again. Show it in your face and show it in your actions. Give An Extra Prayer Something else you can give is an extra prayer. Is someone in your family or circle of friends going through an unpleasant experience? Sit quietly and think about that friend or family member and send them healing thoughts and prayers that they will have the strength to get through their problems of the day. Do not make the problems your own, but show compassion and kindness that you understand their problems. Give An Extra Loving Thought You can also give an extra-loving thought. Catch yourself in mid-thought when you are making a judgement about someone, particularly if a certain scene is replaying itself again this year. Replace it with an extra loving and healing thought about what you do like about that person. Realize that they are a part of lessons you are learning and love them for it. Give the Gift of An Extra Apology You can also give an extra heart-felt apology. Apologize for the things that were said or went unsaid that may have hurt someone else this year. Let go of your ego and making the first move toward healing. By letting go, you can bring healing to another and in return receive healing yourself. Give the Gift of an Extra Phone Call You can also give by taking the time to make that phone call you were thinking about all month. Take an extra 10-15 minutes to call a friend, not just email them, but call a friend that maybe you have fallen out with or someone you know who may be in a nursing home. Talk about the old times and reminisce. A great time to do this is between Christmas and New Years. We have a friend from many years back that we haven’t seen for a long time that always takes the time to call at least once a year and catch up. It is always great to hear his voice when he calls. An Extra Good Deed What about those good deeds? Do the good deeds we didn’t do for each other this year. Whether it is shoveling someone’s driveway, or inviting an elderly neighbor over for dinner or any volunteer work that may come along, take the time and do at least one or two of the thoughts that have crossed your mind recently. You never know who you are going to meet. Gift the Gift of An Extra Happy Person in Your Life You can also give yourself the gift of healing by making sure you find time to be around people who make you happy, especially if your family gatherings are a bit stressful. Seek out at least one happy friend and give them a phone call or arrange to finally get to visit them. So, to wrap everything up what I want you to realize is that we really are all one and we are all part of the whole. What brings healing to another brings healing to ourselves. I also want you to remember you are perfect, whole, and complete, just as you are. Okay, that’s all for today. One of the things I get asked regularly about during a reading is how to determine if you are primarily clairvoyant, clairsentient, clairaudient, or claircognizant. When you work on developing your intuition it can seem a bit confusing so I wanted to share some ways you can recognize your primary intuitive sense. This is the first out of four episodes that I am going to be doing and this one is all about how to develop clairvoyance. So, let’s talk first about what a metaphysical sense is. It is the ability to collect or receive information or data in another way than your five physical senses of sight, sound, taste, touch, and hearing. It is the ability to tap into the unseen or unheard areas that sit there just below the surface. That layer just below the surface is energy. It is perception. It is that intuitive knowing, without anything to support it necessarily. Your metaphysical senses allow you to tap into the unknown and the impressions you cannot perceive with the naked eye. So, this takes practice! You can indeed strengthen your inner senses but it does first help to have some guidelines so you can recognize them and have them become useful to you. One of the things that can cause confusion is often you can use more than one of your metaphysical senses. So, you might be primarily clairvoyant, but also experience clairsentience from time to time. You can strengthen all of these through a variety of methods and I will discuss some of those as we look at each of the senses. Another reason there can be confusion is because you may be trying to strengthen your clairaudience for example, but your guides might actually have an easier time connecting with you through another clair, like clairvoyance. Let’s first start by taking a look at what it means to have Clairvoyance as a primary intuitive sense. This is probably the most well known of the metaphysical senses, or at least maybe the most talked about. It is what most refer to and think of as psychic abilities. It is an ability that is latent in most people and can be developed through practice. Clairvoyance is often referred to as the sixth sense or the “all-seeing eye” or the third eye. Some individuals respond to visual interpretation easier and quicker than auditory, thinking, or feeling senses. If you are primarily clairvoyant you are able to see and perceive images, colors, or shapes, through your third eye, which is located about one inch above your eyebrows near the center of your forehead. Think of this as your spiritual sight or your 6th sense. You may not think you are clairvoyant but if you spend a lot of time daydreaming, imagining, or having vivid dreams like a movie, the chances are clairvoyance is your primary intuitive ability. So, don’t think your daydreaming during the middle of work is all that bad! It can actually be very helpful. Seven Ways To Recognize Clairvoyance So, here are seven ways to recognize clairvoyance. The first way is having an image or vision flash into your mind. It may be a complete image such as a room or a building, but you might not recognize it as something familiar. In some cases that image can show up in the form of a premonition or as a feeling of deja vu. Think of it as a metaphorical image. Also, these images are often random and may just randomly flash before your eyes. You might experience these visions during a particularly vivid dream. You can find yourself having a vivid “movie” playing in your mind. It might be stuck on a continuous loop that keeps repeating and viewing a certain scene. It also might just come across a a still photo, as though it is frozen in time. You may or may not recognize people in that image. The second way to recognize clairvoyance is seeing flashes of colors when you gently close your eyes and tune in or meditate. You might see a flash of red or green, much like a traffic light as an answer to a question you asked from Spirit. Often those colors are only there for a second or two, but they are a quick way to receive an answer to whether or not to move forward. As a side note, flashes of red also can also indicate repressed anger around an issue. It can indicate an issue has more healing needed to be done around a certain situation. Flashes of green can signal love and compassion for a person or a situation. It can also indicate a yes in answer to a question you asked of Spirit. A third way to recognize clairvoyance is by seeing numbers, shapes, or symbols. You might see an image for example of an anchor or bird through your third eye. If you do, tune into what you were thinking about a minute or two earlier. What was the first thing that comes to mind? You can also ask yourself what life area that image connects to. Is it finance? Is it relationships? Is it career? And see what really rings true. Okay, a fourth way to recognize clairvoyance is by reading a persons aura or energy field. You might see colors surrounding a person when you gaze at them. There are also some of you who can see outlines of spirits surrounding a person. A fifth way you might experience clairvoyance is tuning in and actually seeing a specific chakra, either another persons or your own. You might just see the color of the chakra, but this is where practice can be fun. So, I invite you to keep tuning in and see what else you notice about the chakra. Does it appear small or large? Does it seem to grow larger or shrink? Does it appear unbalanced? Is there some cloudiness somewhere within it? A sixth way you might experience clairvoyance is by seeing flashes of light or shadows. This can appear like floating orbs or transparent blobs in the air, either inside or outside. You could also experience flashing lights, glittering lights, or twinkling lights. You might just see these out of the corner of your eye or in your peripheral vision. A seventh way you can experience clairvoyance is through remote viewing. I would put this as an advanced method, but something you can also practice. I would not say I am proficient at remote viewing, but I will share an amazing experience with you. This was back in about 2011 I believe and I was on a personal development website forum and someone wanted to go do a remote viewing exercise so they put up a photo of 5 tarot cards face down. The goal was to guess as many of those tarot cards as possible. I thought it would be fun to try it out. I was at work while I did this, so I wasn’t really concentrating all that hard, but did a very brief meditation and received images of the cards in my mind. It turns out after the answers were revealed that I got 3 out of the 5 cards correct! I was ecstatic to say the least! Now, I haven’t had many other experiences quite to that level, but I will say when those images came through I was in a very light mood and did it really just to see if I could do it. I didn’t have any attachment to the outcome and I think that is something important to note. So, keep things fun when you try some of the exercises I am going to share with you in a few minutes. So, this is something you can definitely have fun with and practice. You can use yourself first as a sample subject and then connect with a like minded friend, with their permission of course, and try it out on each other. Here is an example: Say you had an image of an anchor flash in your mind. Take a few moments of quiet, tune in, and ask your self what life area that anchor applies. Say the answer you received was work. So, seeing an anchor could apply to thinking that you are stuck in your job and won’t get that promotion. Think about the symbolism of the image, an anchor in this example. What does that image represent? An anchor represents stability as in making a ship stable in the water. It indicates stopping something, bringing something to a halt, or slowing down to a crawl. An anchor could also be looked at as a solid foundation, or planting roots by burying something deep in the ground. What I want you to see here is that the symbolism can go in many directions. When you receive an image of some type, do not overthink the image. Tune into your first thought when you receive an image of this type. The first thought is usually correct. How To Develop Clairvoyance So here are a few ways you can work on developing clairvoyance. The first step being setting the intention. Set the Intention So, you are going to be setting the intention. You can develop clairvoyance by telling your Spirit Guides that you wish to develop these skills. This is you setting the intention that you wish to develop your clairvoyant ability to a greater level. If this is not your strongest intuitive modality, it pays to ask your angels and guides for assistance. Work with Visualization Techniques So, you can do this yourself, you don’t need to spend a fortune on a class or workshop unless you want to do so. The easiest way to get started with visualization is to let yourself go into daydream mode and into your imagination. So, now it is time to let your imagination come out to play! Let Your Imagination Out To Play Choose something that you are familiar with or you have already seen pictures of. You could use a beach on a tropical island, or the flashing neon lights of Las Vegas, it really doesn’t matter. Make it something you are very familiar with and know what it looks like. Any place or item will work. You could also tune into a favorite item from childhood, such as a teddy bear. Your Virtual Magnifying Glass Now it is time to get out your virtual magnifying glass. Get the image that you chose firmly anchored in your mind. So, what you are doing is visually pulling up an image in your mind of what that object looks like. It is a familiar object. Now I want you to pull out your magnifying glass and zone in on one particular area or feature. So, this is kind of the deep dive. If you have a scene or a picture, you are going to go deep and pick out one aspect of that and really start looking at it very, very closely using your third eye. Just start going down in deep. What does that look like to you? Use your magnifying glass to bring that feature into focus and then just notice what else you see. This is a good time to journal about what you come up with whether it makes sense or not. Whether it is a color…whether it is a shape that just appears out of somewhere. What are your initial impressions? Once you are done, choose another area, zoom in and repeat the process. What this does is help you tune into the images as they will appear larger than normal and you can therefore focus on them easier. You can also use this virtual magnifying glass method when you are looking at some type of a dream or a recurring image that you might have received. Get that image firmly planted in your mind about what you did see on a physical level and then use that virtual magnifying glass to start going deeper and bringing into focus all of those smaller details. Visualize Numbers This is one type of visualization that you can practice. You can also, once you are a little bit more comfortable try visualizing numbers. This is literally what is sounds like. Say for example, you visualized the number 43. Get a mental picture of the number 43 in your mind. Now, when you think about it everybody is going to have a little bit different version of what the number 43 looks like. What color is it? What font is it in? Serif, san serif or block? Does it look modern or antique? Is it big or is it tiny? And once you gain a sense of that information, just how long can you hold on to the image of the number 43 in your mind? Is it for just a few seconds? If so, try again and attempt to hold the same number longer, like 10-15 seconds. Make a game out of it, keep it light, and see how long you can hold an image in your mind. Visualize Places and Rooms You can take this a step further and expand this practice by choosing different rooms in your house. You can go behind the walls and just tune in to what does that wall in the living room look like behind the drywall? Tune into what is there…to the studs…to the wiring…to whatever else might be hidden behind that wall. Have fun. Pick a different room, go to your bedroom or go to the attic. This is all art of developing clairvoyance. Again having fun with it goes a long way in being able to tune in. You can further expand this by looking at other rooms in your house, looking at your yard, flowers, or even going back to the house you grew up in and take a look around energetically, and see what is there. What have you missed? What has just become commonplace that you don’t acknowledge anymore. Dream Journaling Another way you can develop clairvoyance is through dream journaling. If you are clairvoyant, images and mind movies can come to you through your dreams. This would be looking like keeping a dream journal next to your bed of the intuitive flashes and hits you receive, especially first thing in the morning. So, there is a lot you can do with dream journals. This is one of them - keeping track of intuitive hits when you first wake up. The other thing is writing an intention in your dream journal before you go to sleep and then doing the recording of any images or thoughts or hits that you get when you first wake up. Keeping that next to your bed, if you notice any symbols, try to set aside writing time to discern what those words or metaphorical symbols mean. Try to pay attention to whether it references the past, present, or future? Also, did you recently tell your Guides you needed information on a certain situation in your life? This could be the answer. Sometimes those answers do not come immediately, sometimes they come 24 hours later. A dream journal also lets you look back in time for additional connections that might not have made sense right away. Crystals For Opening Your Third Eye Another way to develop clairvoyance is to use crystals to open your third eye. You can carry them in your pocket or place them directly on your forehead or hold them in your hand, your dominant hand. Two crystals I recommend are lapis lazuli and clear quartz crystal for opening the third eye. Be Open To The Signs You Receive The other piece of developing your clairvoyance is to be open to the clairvoyant signs you receive. Some of them could be as clear as a neon sign, or what you receive could be a metaphorical symbol of something your guides feel you need to be aware of. When you first become aware of a picture in your mind, pay careful attention to what the first thing is that comes up as to what it means. In most cases this is the correct meaning of it, the one that comes through in a split second. When you second guess, that is really your logical mind kicking into gear and you can really start losing pieces of what the message meant. When we let our ego and thinking mind get a hold of something, we generally tend to dismiss the real meaning and make up our own stuff. A lot of time that is directed by fear and what we think we know. So, before I go I want you to know it is okay if you don’t get much information right away. For some of you this might come easily and for others it will take more practice. The point is to let it be a fun experience and not let yourself get stressed out if you don’t feel you are making progress. Also, trust your Guides to send you messages that are uplifting and helpful. Your Guides will not fill you with fear based messages. Also, if you want to go further in developing clairvoyance, The Silva Method is an audio program that I highly recommend. They go into a great amount of detail being able to tune into images, both within your house and also remote images. Their program, The Silva Method is a little bit of remote viewing involved. They have a ton of exercises that can help you increase this ability even further. It’s Thanksgiving time and I am grateful for this opportunity. I am truly grateful to have been working with Barret, for the last year really, maybe a year and a half. I am a student of The Course In Miracles for approximately five or six years and have been working with Barret for the past year, year and a half. Okay, so today those of you listening get kind of a peek into what goes on within one of Barret’s The Witness energy healing sessions. Basically what we are going to be doing is what I call sometimes a sample session or an introductory session. In this case Trish and I know one another, but often times when I work with someone I offer a free 15 minute session over the phone with people to help them tune into what they are going through, see what there blocks might be, and see what of those issues might be ready to shift and heal. So, we are basically going to be doing that kind of format today. As we mentioned, Trish and I have already been working together so I have a lot of the insights and connections about what might be coming up. However, on the call today, I never know what is going to happen. Right? I always turn it over to Spirit within and let Spirit guide us on this journey. So, it could be something completely different or it could be revisiting something that we have been working on in the past. But the purpose of it is always to help it come forward, to bring the shadow into the light, and then to let the light move through and undo. So, these ideas do definitely fit together with the concepts of The Course In Miracles, because as Trish said she is a student of the course and I am also a student and teacher of the course. But it is not required that you are in to the course or even know what that is in order to benefit from this work. It just has a way of flowing in a very natural and inspired way. So, yeah, that is kind of an explanation of what we will be doing and now I think we will just step into actually doing it. That is what I am talking about today and if you’ve seen them frequently, you probably have a lot of questions about why you see them, why they have suddenly become a part of your life and if there is anything you need to do. You might have wondered about what their relevance is for a certain situation in your life. So today what I want to talk about now is understanding the bigger picture around why you see those cryptic repeating number patterns and sequences so you start to understand the messages and more importantly how to use them to create positive changes in all areas of your life. This is one of the most commented topics on my blog and I have received hundreds of visitors to my blog posts on repeating numbers every day for the past seven years, so if you have been seeing repeating numbers for some time this podcast if for you. You are not alone! And just to let you know if you want to know what some of the specific numbers mean like 222 or 444, I do have a free report available on my website at www.intuitivejournal.com. In that report I list out the meanings of each of the top 10 most common repeating numbers like 11:11, 111, 222, 333, and others. Your Guides and Angels Are Trying To Get Your Attention In a nutshell, your guides and angels are trying to get your attention by showing you signs. One of the most common ways in which angels speak to us is by showing us repetitive number sequences. In one aspect, it means you are capable of receiving higher quality vibrational messages. It is a way to get your attention regarding something important in your life, usually a decision of some sort. It could deal with your marriage, relationship, career, or other major life areas. What you need to understand is how to align your choices to the messages presented. Seeing repeating number patterns gives you clues to actions aligned with your soul level self and gifts. So, probably one of the biggest questions I get asked via email or during an intuitive reading is “I see repeating numbers all the time. Is there something I need to do? And the short answer is YES! You do need to be doing something different now that you have noticed them. What Are You Supposed To Do? Most of the bigger questions start after that – Just exactly WHAT am I now supposed to do with this information? It may have started out with you seeing sets of repeating numbers for some time, long enough where you knew it was no longer just a coincidence. You may see many different number patterns repeatedly or just one single number. But whatever pattern you see, it has caused you to begin a search for more information and more than likely why you found one of my website pages or are listening to this podcast. You have probably combed the internet in search of their meanings, especially if you see a less well-known number like 512, 223, or something similar. You might also see a certain person’s birthday number or some other number that just seems to keep showing up. So, you start gathering and collecting information from various sources. Some of it makes sense and some of it might be in direct opposition to each other. It can leave you feeling like you have been left in the dark about a few key points. Are You Receiving Mixed Messages? From my own experience the progression goes something like this: You see one or more repeating number patterns and know it is more frequent than normal, yet at some level you may still just think of it as a neat phenomenon. You may have even discussed it with friends or family and gotten mixed messages. Some of the more logical folks may have told you that you are making it all up in your head or that because you are focusing on it you are just noticing the numbers more frequently. You may have have also run across people that have told you it is a “negative” sign and you had better not be messing around with that type of stuff. Depending on how diverse your friends and family are you may have found one or two other people that see them as well, yet you probably feel like you are now both in the same boat wondering what to do next with the information. Is it just a sign to make a wish to the Universe or something more? Angel Numbers - Is There Something More? You can certainly make a wish whenever you see 11:11, but if you are still searching for answers, you probably have this feeling there is something more to the story. This is a point a lot of people can stay stuck in for a long time; sometimes years. But the numbers don’t disappear, at least in my own experience. In fact, once you recognize one number pattern, such as 11:11, it seems to open you up to seeing more. You can start to see 333, 777, 999 and even other less known single number patterns like 227 or 915. At a soul level, you might have a feeling there is something bigger underneath the surface when it comes to seeing repeating number patterns. At a subconscious level, you may prefer to stay confused and NOT know any more about them. It can be so much easier to just chalk it up to coincidence or happenstance. You might be fearful about the types of changes that following the signs could mean for your life. You can think sometimes that you are better off not knowing. I used to think that way as well, but found It was the beginning of my own spiritual wake-up call.” My Own Journey My own journey into repeating numbers started around 2008. Back then I would have been considered pretty normal by most people's standards, going about my life with little to no spiritual awareness. I was working as an office manager in a financial office and began to feel as if something had gone seriously wrong with my life. I experienced something that I came to find out was referred to a “dark night of the soul” or something close to that. It felt like I was completely off track, but couldn’t seem to put my finger on what I was really supposed to be doing with my life or what contribution I was here to offer the world. It was a particularly tough period of time until I was able to start listening to my Spirit Guides and Angels and learned to trust their messages. Those messages began to come in the form of repeating numbers. It was the beginning of my own spiritual wake-up call. Spiritual Awakening Many people have the impression that you have to be “born psychic” in order to talk to your spirit guides and higher self. It may seem that only a select few are given that ability. My view is that everyone is born possessing these abilities, but for most they have become disconnected and taught not to believe in “all that psychic stuff”. Instilling fear in people can be a great deterrent to reconnecting with your higher self and guides and it took some time to work through those fears. I knew I had a lot to share about my spiritual awakening and launched my blog, Intuitive Journal in November of 2009. I built my website because I wanted to share my journey with others. My Guides Were Trying To Tell Me Something I knew that if I was going through this process; others were too. I kept seeing repeating number patterns, like 333, 444, and 11:11 more and more frequently. My spirit guides were definitely trying to tell me something through those repeating numbers, and I had better sit up and take notice. My guess is if you are here listening to this, you also have an interest in learning how to access your intuition and understand the deeper messages of the repeating numbers that follow you through life. Learning to access your intuition is quite a powerful path to travel, and can lead to less roadblocks in your life and being generally happier as a result. Seeing repeating numbers became a regular occurrence in my daily life. They became particularly strong every time I would think about leaving my financial job. Fast forward to June 2011, when I gave my notice and finally left my day job for good. During the months leading up to that event I saw various repeating numbers anywhere from 20-30 times per day. Even now, many years later, I still see repeating numbers frequently. I now use repeating numbers as my guide to let me know if the next thing I am planning is aligned with my soul level path. A Validation You Are On The Right Path For me, seeing repeating numbers is a validation that I am taking the right next step and that step is aligned with my soul purpose. I have welcomed them into my life and can now use them to put the pieces together and follow their signs. I know that is what you want to. Okay, so the first thing I think is important to understand is that each number resonates to a specific unique vibrational frequency. Whether you realize it or not when you see a number like 333, at that moment or shortly before seeing it you have tapped into the specific energy and frequency of that number. Think of music and notes on a scale. Each note has a specific tone and a specific frequency. Angel numbers do as well. Your personal vibration at any given moment allows you to connect with some numbers more than others. What unfortunately happens is we often get so wrapped up in the search for more information on what one specific number means we fail to see the bigger picture. You might worry whether a certain number is positive or negative or that seeing that number indicates something good or bad will happen for you. That bigger picture includes looking at why you even see the angel numbers at all. So, here are a few reasons why you see repeating numbers pattern or sequences. • It gives you first an indication you have a level of awareness where you can have a larger and deeper connection to Source energy. • It indicates your soul is ready to heal current situations so you can align to your larger purpose. • They indicate you are ready to take new actions toward your dreams, desires, and goals. What Stops You From Hearing The Messages? So, what stops you from listening to the messages within the numbers? Say for example you ask your guides for a sign about leaving your day job. You might see 111 or another repeating number within minutes of asking for a sign. See this as your confirmation and for me it resonates to a yes. The thing is; many people stop right there and then ask the same question the next day or the next week. You can end up in a perpetual cycle of asking questions but failing to see the bigger picture or take any action. You can feel trapped or that you have limited ways to accomplish your new goals. What happens along the way is what we want and where our passions reside get bull-dozed over often due to fear, shame, guilt, and blame. Your belief system may be such that is difficult to believe you can have all that you dream of having. You might end up thinking you have to settle for the life you have created so far. You can think bigger success is only for someone else. We tell ourselves things like that to cover up the wounds, sometimes so much we can believe it for years. Understand by doing that you are putting a mask over your true soul level gifts. When years pass and that mask stays on, it can take deep healing work to peel back all those layers. Think of peeling back the layers of an onion. When I work with clients we look at your soul level gifts and energetic misalignments in your way, which keep you moving forward with your goals. We peel back those layers and begin healing those past and present life situations. Once you have a clear understanding of the energies behind your choices, you can see what you need to do next. We also talk about what those next actions steps might be for you. Angel Numbers:  What Do They Mean For Me? So, the burning question on everyone’s mind is “Repeating numbers: what do they mean for me?” and the answer to this is that they mean something slightly different to everyone. If that isn’t enough to make you crazy! The way repeating numbers in general show up in your life are as an answer to your thoughts and wishes for something better to come into your life. So, that is why they mean something slightly different to each of you. Think of it as a personalized answer from the Universe to your thoughts, wishes, and problems. The reason there are slightly different meanings for the repeating numbers is because numbers have a bigger global vibration and also an individual meaning. So, the bigger global vibration is meant to reach a large amount of people, and of course just like anything, when you reach a large group of people, those definitions and meanings get a bit mainstream. When you look at a number from an individual level, there are subtleties, because you are bringing your own personal experiences into the mix. It is a combination of your personal belief system, experiences, and frame of reference. It is one of the reasons why a number like 444 shows up on the internet in opposing ways. Some people view it as a positive sign and others view it as a not so positive sign. That makes for a lot of apprehension around certain number patterns. So, to answer the question about what do they mean for me; I will give you this to ponder. Have you been considering making a big change in your life lately? These types of number patterns commonly appear when you are thinking about making a major life change like a career, a relationship, or even moving. It is a positive sign that there is a deeper connection to be had and also to allow your intuition to open up and become useful in everyday situations. It really is a form of heartfelt connection with the Divine. Paying Attention and Divine Timing Your spirit and consciousness are growing at an exponential rate at this time on Earth and the numbers are here to guide you with that path. So, one way you can receive a better indication of what repeating numbers mean to you is to be paying attention to what you were thinking about right before you saw the repeating numbers. The numbers are a good indication that your thoughts are on the right path with the next steps you should be taking. It does take some conscious awareness, but you will become quicker at discerning what they mean in relation to your thoughts. The important thing is to be aware of your thoughts right before or when you see a specific number pattern. But of course that is only one way to do it and only part of the story. What I just gave you will work for some of you because some of you are at a point where you have enough of an intention for it to make sense. Most of the questions I have answered via email however; revolve around multiple scenarios and in a lot of cases you are setting multiple intentions in rapid succession. Then when you see the repeating numbers, you can easily become confused as to which situation it applies to. And then the loop and cycle of gathering more information kicks into gear. When that happens it is very difficult to make any progress at all. Deceased Loved Ones Some of you have asked if a specific number like 444 represents confirmation of deceased loved ones around you. They could be and perhaps for some of you that is all the number meant at that moment. However, for others a deceased loved one might be a messenger showing you an alternate path. So, think about what you were asking at the time when you saw a certain repeating number. Were you just asking for confirmation about a dear departed soul or were you asking for help and guidance in some other life area? From my own experience, when I see repeating number patterns and sequences it confirms a choice I was considering was in alignment with my highest path and purpose. I have experienced many points along the way where confirmation came in the form of repeating angel numbers. When I saw them I had a deep inner knowing of the next steps I needed to take. In this introductory episode I wanted to share a little bit about myself and my background and what to expect from my Intuitive Journal podcast in the upcoming shows. So, I have been a professional intuitive for about the past seven years. Over those years I’ve taken a really deep dive within myself and in helping others recognize and break energetic patterns that keep you from being happy and whole. I’ve learned all types of astrology, numerology, Akashic Records reading, energy scanning, and other healing modalities. I have learned about how energy flows, energy frequency, spiritual DNA, and vibration and taken these concepts and sciences - yes they really are sciences, and integrated them to bust through many of my own personal beliefs and patterns. That is what I do when I help my clients as well. I believe we are capable of healing ourselves on all levels; physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional, but sometimes we need an objective eye to see the root of the issue and that is why sometimes we need to get an outside perspective. Since 2009 I’ve written on my blog, IntuitiveJournal.com about developing your intuition, stepping out of the psychic closet, spirituality, and out of all those years of writing came this podcast. I felt the need to get my message out in a different way and I have always loved listening to audio recordings of my mentors. I am mainly clairaudient by nature so for me the spoken and written word are ways I can deeply connect to others. So, I have decided to take the topics I’ve written about over the years and to share them here on this podcast. My views have changed and matured somewhat over the years and I’ve received validation on many things I suspected were false. When I started on this journey it was at a point in my life where I felt completely lost and disconnected from spirit. I felt numb and depressed and couldn’t put my finger on why and I began to wonder what was wrong with me. Many of you listening might have felt like that at some point in your life as well. I began writing my blog with the intention that if I was experiencing all of these feelings, someone else out there is probably experiencing them too. My blog became an open journal of my experience with spiritual awakening. One of the biggest pieces of that spiritual awakening was seeing repeating numbers. You might have heard them called angel numbers. Not everyone who sees repeating number patterns like 11:11, 222, 333, and 444 is looking for Spirit. But many of you are. That’s why I’m here. If you are listening to this podcast, chances are you are seeking Spirit at a deeper level, even if you don’t see it that way right now. One of the biggest things about my spiritual awakening journey is that I felt completely alone and disconnected, even with a supportive husband and child. I felt like there was no one I could talk to about what I was experiencing, particularly when it came to awakening psychic abilities and intuition. I thought I was going crazy at times. I also thought I had to fix everything all by myself. I thought there was no assistance, no help from others and no support from Spirit. If you are still listening right now you might feel the same. This entire spiritual journey or the “dark night of the soul” as some refer to it, is just that, a journey. Some even refer to it as the “heros journey”. But a journey to what? A journey or path to becoming whole. A path of ripping apart what wasn’t real or wasn’t a part of you and putting yourself back together again. It is about breaking everything down, examining the pieces, and putting the pieces back together again, but this time without all the extra stuff that was never a part of who you are at soul level. It is a homecoming of sorts. Coming back home to who you really are. That is why I started this podcast and why I started my blog. I want you to feel like you are no longer alone. I am here for those of you who understand how your spirit connects to your beliefs and how that plays into your life when you have pain and confusion. You already know or believe in the unseen Spirit world. You understand there is more to this Earth and life than what we see in the physical world. You may feel called to step into professional intuitive or healing work. So, throughout this show I refer to Spirit and what I mean by Spirit is Universal energy or Godsource energy. If you don’t care for those words, please feel free to insert, replace, or change it with a term that does fit your beliefs. You may also hear my guests referring to different terms as well. One of the things I have found to be most helpful in my path is being open to expanding my beliefs beyond specific doctrines like Christianity. It is an ongoing process of growth and expansion and I am still researching, learning, and finding new pieces of information all the time. I am connecting the pieces, some of which are long forgotten and have their roots in pre-Christian spirituality. I don’t particularly identify with any one religion or movement at this time and for most of my life prior to starting this blog really considered myself an Athiest. I keep growing and learning and expanding my beliefs and will share some of that in upcoming episodes of this podcast. It really is a continuous journey and it never ends. In upcoming episodes I will talk about different kinds of Divine guidance, life purpose, Spirit Guides, past lives, and ways to develop your intuition. I will talk about karma, negative energy patterns, and belief systems and give you some ways to think about those things in a different light. I will also talk about repeating number patterns like 11:11, 222, 333, 444 and others as I know this is a topic many of you have questions about. So, during this introductory episode I thought I would give you a little background about myself, so you know where I am coming from. I always find that knowing a bit about the background of someone when I listen to a podcast or a teleseminar really helps me to connect with that person better. So, some of you have been with me for quite a while now following my blog posts on IntuitiveJournal.com, my Facebook page, or have listened to me on an interview or webinar. For others, this is the first time you are really connecting with me, so just let me take a few minutes to introduce myself and share a little bit about my background. For many years I struggled to define my life purpose. I tried many different careers and jobs along the way, just never being fully satisfied with what I was doing. Despite having what some would consider a good job as an office manager for a financial advisor, I just couldn’t help but think there was something else I was supposed to be bringing to the world, but I did not have a clear idea about what that was. I got to the point where I was just numb and depressed, and felt like a robot going through the motions with both my career and my life in general. I wondered where my passion and sprit had gone and if it was possible to find it back. I went through a period of soul searching and redefining who I was. It was really a dark night of the soul experience. You might be somewhere in the middle of that experience too. It became apparent that something was going to have to change. It took a while to get my savings in order to make the leap, but I kept at it until the day I finally gave my notice and left my full-time job in 2011. It was one of the scariest and most exhilarating moments of my life. Unbeknownst to me, that was when the real inner work began. I now had the time available to pursue what I really wanted which was energy healing and intuitive work, but then found I needed to work on me and what I had to offer the world. There was no more hiding behind the curtain. It was time to step out and let the world know what I was made of. What made everything change was the day I made the commitment to myself to live each day with passion, love, and inner spirit. What started out as a personal healing journey ended up being the background for the healing work I am doing now. By working on my inner being, I found myself being drawn to Reiki, the Akashic Records, learning all I could about intuition and psychic abilities, and many other alternative healing areas. What finally started making sense to me about my intuitive abilities was that what I thought were just natural traits, were not traits that others had developed to the same degree. I continued down the path of reading everything I could about developing my intuitive abilities and started taking a few professional psychic development courses. Finally one day I knew I needed to speak about all I had learned and I started my website as a means of expressing all of my thoughts and feelings. Fast forward a few years and I now have multiple certifications and trainings with some wonderful teachers regarding learning to use your psychic abilities at a professional level. I have picked up some great techniques and methods along the way for connecting and communicating with my Spirit Guides and also some great ways to recognize intuition when it is smacking you in the face. Through writing, I really rediscovered my passion, my spirit, and my love for life. I feel like I have come around full circle, but now the circle is infinite and expanding. I now offer private intuitive readings and spiritual business mentoring, I find out who you were meant to be at soul level and what is keeping you from expressing that in this lifetime.
