This week sees the blues Ian Mills and Andrew Price kick off the show with their excitement about work finally starting on developing the new stadium at Bramley Moor, and what that could mean for the club going forward. Talk moves on to the recent 1-0 pre season victory with Moise Kean on the score sheet before looking at the likelihood of going into the season without James Rodriguez. The reds, Phil Roberts and Gary Murray, come in here to talk over the return of Gomez and Van Dijk in their recent 4-3 defeat to Hertha Berlin, as well as the enigma that is Naby Keita looking good in these pre season fixtures. The reds move to look at a Jordan Henderson’s contract talks stalling and the potential of the captain leaving the club. This week in history is next with the blues looking back at Romelu Lukaku signing for the club and the impact he had. The reds look more recently, at the signing of Adrian in 2019 which turned out to be a master stroke as he started the premier league campaign which Liverpool were eventual winners, winning every game as well as the UEFA super cup and club World Cup. ATP Pre Season Episode 2 - Season 2021/22

In an ATP Extra that is definitely for both sets of fans from either side of the park, Terry McGivern & Ian Mills are joined by ex Liverpool & Everton player, Don Hutchison. Don starts off with his Liverpool days, telling the lads about how as a young 18 year old from Hartlepool, he initially thought he was being 'pranked' when Kenny Dalglish called him to tell him of Liverpool's interest, before revealing how the wow factor of Anfield on his first day really gripped him. From the inside, he says how it felt to see Kenny leave and be replaced by Graeme Souness, and the changes that came with it. Don explains the pressure that young Liverpool side felt, as some of the more successful old guard were moved on, and how the performances in the league, and league finishes fell short of expectations. His admitted disappointment in some of his own conduct as a Liverpool player is spoken about in brutal honesty, and he reveals he still to this day, looks back and wishes he would been able to stay at Anfield. Before we move on to Don's Everton career, he gives us an exclusive, on Gerard Houllier actually wanting him to re-join Liverpool in 2000! His Everton career starts with how his love for Howard Kendall was the pull in returning to Merseyside in blue, before becoming part of a team that went into the last game of the 97-98 season fighting for survival, and just why that day is not only the worst he's ever felt on a football pitch, but also his proudest '60 seconds' in football. His battles for the shirt with John Collins & Olivier Dacourt are discussed, his battle to stay at the club in 1998, how he became friends with Duncan Ferguson and bonded in a night club with Mitch Ward(!) and his love for Kevin Campbell are all discussed in detail, before Don reveals just how much pride he still has today, being Everton captain in the win at Anfield in 1999. Finally, Don reveals just what happened at Bellefield in February 2000, when he was stripped of the club captaincy and transfer listed, in what he describes as being 'absolutely gutting'. There are stories for both sides that are insightful, and hilarious throughout in a fantastic ATP Extra for all.

The first of the 2021/22 pre-season shows sees the blues, Ian mills and Andrew Price, joined by reds, Gary Murray and Terry McGivern, get things underway discussing their feeling towards Rafa Benitez being Everton’s new manager. A discussion of both club's recent pre-season activity and news follows, with incoming and outgoing transfers covered, whilst the red also talk about the possibility of being without VVD and Gomez to begin the season. There are a number of social media/website questions from listeners including; questions about Naby Keita's chances at the club, Mo Salah not being granted leave for the Olympics, Andre Gomes’ importance to Everton and an interactive task of creating a combined attribute "super player" being for each club, which listeners to get involved in. This week in history returns, with the signing of Gini Wijnaldum for Liverpool back in 2016 and Everton’s signing of Tim Cahill from the summer of 2004. Pre-Season 1 - Season 2021/22

On this episode of ATP Extra, Ian Mills & Gary Judge are joined by Everton legend, Andy Gray to discuss his Everton career timeline. We start in 1983, with tales of meeting Howard Kendall, arriving at the club and a hilarious story of just how he got his medical records to Everton!  From the inside, we hear how he felt when Howard was under pressure, his thoughts on just what turned in 1984 and of course, the magic of winning the FA Cup in 1984. The magical 1984-1985 season is discussed in great detail. From persuading Graeme Sharpe to not hand in a transfer request after being dropped at Newcastle, to claiming the number 10 as his own, memories from the goals he scored, his thoughts on just how good Neville Southall was, and of course, Bayern Munich! The end of the season in which the league title and European Cup Winners Cup were clinched is discussed, with tales from the dressing room and beyond, as Andy tells us just how close that team were as a group of friends. Andy tells us just what still ‘winds him up’ from the end of that 84/85 season before emotionally telling us just how he left Everton, the story behind it and honestly revealing he regrets that decision. We wind up with talking about his impact on the game from the studio, as in 1992 Sky Sports coverage of football with him at the forefront changed how we viewed football, and then tells us just what happened in 1997, when he interviewed for the vacant managers job & subsequently stayed at Sky Sports. This is a bumper episode, with tales that will make you laugh, and smile all throughout!

In the second of our off season episodes, blue Gary Judge and red Terry McGivern, discuss the latest goings on for both clubs including Rafael Benitez' Everton press conference, where his backroom team were confirmed, Liverpool's pre-season camp in Austria, which sees the return of key players from injury, as well some discussion of England's Euro 2021 final defeat to Italy. Also covered is some early gossip on some possible incomings and outgoings at both clubs, with Everton links to defenders and Liverpool link to a host of midfielders. 

ATP Summer Session 2 - 2020/21

Red panelist Phil sits down with former Liverpool man John Welsh (over Zoom) to discuss John's career, focusing mainly on his time at his boyhood club Liverpool FC. Obsessed with football from an early age John was picked up by Liverpool at 8 years old and if not for the intervention of a scout and good friend, John's dream was nearly cut short before it began. A powerhouse of a midfielder, strong in the tackle and classy on the ball, John soon rose through the ranks, always playing a couple of age groups above. During this fascinating interview John details some of the key moments at the club including captaining the reserves, debuts for the first team, Champions League appearances and his eventual decision to leave under a bit of a cloud, after some cold treatment from Rafa Benitez. John gives great insight into what was happening at the club in what was a pretty successful era and tells us just how good the likes of Steven Gerrard, Alonso, Torres and others were, with some hilarious anecdotes from training ground. Moving on from Liverpool John briefly touches on his successful stints at Hull, Tranmere and Preston, before outlining some of his hopes and plans for the future.

ATP Extra Episode 49 - John Welsh

Judgy and Pricey caught up, over zoom, with former Scottish international, Chelsea, Everton and Tranmere winger Pat Nevin. Pat took us through his football career starting with how he came into the game at a young age but was torn in his early years between enjoying his life and progressing his studies alongside football or going Pro. He did, of course, eventually take the plunge and didn't look back. After moving down to London with Chelsea and being voted their player of the year in 1987/88, Pat was eventually signed by Colin Harvey for Everton where he enjoyed 4 seasons under Colin and later under the returning Howard Kendall. Pat talks us through the good and bad times he had at the club, playing with an "exceptionally talented group of players", who, for many reasons, never hit the heights of their predecessors. Pat talks at length about the transition that Colin Harvey has attempting to orchestrate and gives his opinions on where it went wrong. Pat also recalls the incredibly difficult period of the Hillsborough disaster and the "impossible" final which followed it. Pat also opens up on his relationship with the late Howard Kendall and how from day 1, he could tell that Howard "didn't fancy him" as a player.  We also hear about the great years that Pat had at Tranmere where Pat felt he played some of his best football. Really interesting chat with an incredibly honest and articulate man!

ATP's Phil Roberts and Gary Murray sit down to talk with local lad and lifelong red George, about his time working at the club, including the different relationships he's had with the various managers and dressing rooms throughout his time at the club, his experience travelling with the great Liverpool teams of the 80's and the friendships he built and still has with some of the club legends, such as Sir Kenny Dalglish. He also gives us some insight into the day job, with insights into how he picks the music to be played on matchdays at Anfield, as well as his passion for giving new local bands a platform, to have their music heard by fans at the game. With his instantly recognisable voice, great memory for past events and clear passion for Liverpool football club on display, this is a great listen for reds of all ages.

Tranmere Rovers fan and media presenter Matt Jones joins Ian Mills to look back at the 20/21 season as Across The Park goes on it's annual trip 'Across The Mersey'. Matt talks about a season that seen Tranmere change managers on two occasions as well as adapt to behind closed doors football and how both had a big impact on Tranmere's failure to gain promotion back into league one. Highs, lows, plans for next season as well just who will be around next season as a list of players are out of contract. Season Review - Season 2020/21

The final show of the season begins with the reds, Terry McGivern and Gary Murray, discussing the final two games of the season where Liverpool secured 3rd place and champions league football for next to season with two victories over Burnley at Turf Moor and Crystal Palace at an Anfield containing ten thousand supporters. They share their thoughts on the departing Gini Wijnaldum and weather he leaves a Liverpool legend. Next, the blues, Ian Mills and Gary Judge, start with their victory last week over Wolves where they could see the foundations of how Everton and Ancelotti are trying to approach games. We also have a special report from Goodison on Wednesday, as Millsy was one of the 6.5k who attended. The lads then share their thoughts and frustrations at another dismal performance on the final day against Man City, where the toffees got dismantled 5-0. There was an influx of disgruntled evertonians messaging after the season ended which Millsy and Judgy work their way through. This weeks “week in history” sees the blue half look back at Summer 2006, when Everton signed Andrew Johnson and what he brought to the club including his goals on Everton 3-0 derby victory over Liverpool. The reds this week, look back at and obvious choice.. the heroics of Istanbul back in 2005 where Liverpool came back from 3-0 down any half time to claim their 5th European cup. The show ends this week with “Who am I?”, hosted by Gary Judge, with one red option and one blue.
