Stepping into Bengaluru’s early morning chill in late August, I wondered why the crisp, rain-starved breeze felt more like November than the southwest monsoon. A look at seasonal data revealed that without persistent rain and dampness, August temperatures naturally mimic October and feel deceptively wintry. The debate was settled when September brought heavy downpours just before Ganapati Visarjan, reminding me that my seasonal clock had simply jumped ahead. Why August in Bengaluru feels like October this year

A chance sighting of an active-duty soldier sporting an Operation Sindoor badge outside a bank in Sahakar Nagar prompts an introspective look at the cultural differences in expressing gratitude toward the armed forces. While spontaneously offering a quiet "Thank you for your service" is commonplace in the United States, appreciation in Bharat is more frequently reserved for ceremonial parades and national commemorations rather than direct, personal encounters. Recalling an earlier instinct to thank volunteers during the 2025 Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, the narrative examines why genuine respect is so often muted by hesitation and polite convenience. The piece ultimately serves as a candid reminder to step past overthinking and voice heartfelt appreciation to those who serve with quiet dedication, ensuring gratitude is delivered with the volume turned up.

The Unspoken Thank You for Your service

When my friend grumbled about a difficult supplier, I suggested a simple cup of tea — and he replied, "I thought you were on my side!" In this episode, I remember my mother, the world's unpaid advocate, who always argued for the person not in the room, and how her lessons — returning five rupees of extra change, helping a neighbour drill on a Sunday, reading case studies that felt oddly familiar — taught me that seeing another perspective is not agreement; it is a better way to respond. A reflection on perspective, downstream consequences, and remembering our parents during Shraddha Paksha by carrying forward what they taught us.

Lord Brahma's Boon | Shatabdi

UnThe distinct sound of a beating of a heart. The beating of a heart of a child who is yet to be born. As a podcaster, I had heard voices of all sorts of kinds. People laughing, animals praying in delight, dogs barking, music, raindrops, sounds of delight, anger, fear, frustration, suspense, drama. Every conceivable emotion I probably had heard and heard it several times. But this one distinct sound was something I was least expecting to affect me the way it did. It triggered a series of emotions within me. My first thought was, this is the sweetest sound I have heard. next i began to think what was each of this beat trying to tell me or trying to tell the whole world was this little one trying to scream in their own way and tell oh what an awesome mother that I have Fantastic lady Or maybe the child thought Hey, my father isn't too bad at all. Yeah, he may be not what I expected, but it's okay. The emotions probably were somewhere in between. The sound that I heard for the first time The heartbeat When our child who was yet to be born Was hardly seven weeks old It was a heart that would stop beating abruptly A few weeks later The heartbeat The sound still resonates in my head The emotions still pour out every time I listen to that 12-second audio. It was a sound that will remain just what it was. An audio file sitting somewhere in my computer. Five Minutes - Late Bloomers Sample 2

5 minutes. That was probably the sum total of the amount of time for which I held him in my hands. They say that when a parent holds their child for the first time in their arms, the maternal instinct definitely kicks in for mothers, but even for those who think that they are probably the least equipped father in the world to hold their child, the paternal instinct does kick in. It certainly did for me, for those five minutes. Holding that infant wrapped in blue sheets in my arms, 5 minutes is all the time I could hold him I should have been screaming from the top of my voice standing up on the roof of the hospital and yelling out to the whole world I am a dad Except I was not in the hospital. I was at the crematorium. And a few minutes later, the newborn was buried deep into the ground. 5 minutes My journey as a father began and ended in those 5 minutes. This story is written and narrated by Amar Vyas. ब्रह्मा जी का वरदान

Kampu is an old desktop computer that has been forgotten in a dusty storage box for years after the death of its owner. When young Veena discovers it, she and her sister Bina clean it, upgrade its ageing hardware and give it a new lease of life. But Kampu’s real transformation begins when Veena decides to donate it to an old-age home, where it helps residents reconnect with their families, explore the digital world and discover new ways of sharing their stories. What follows is an unexpected journey of technology, memories and human connection, as an old hard drive helps rediscover the poems of Veena’s late grandfather and Kampu becomes the centre of a growing collection of stories, experiences and voices from the residents. The story is a gentle reminder that an ageing device—or an overlooked idea—can find a completely new purpose with a little care, imagination and inspiration. Black Paws Rescued - The Adventures of Buddy

A heartwarming moment unfolded this afternoon when a Zepto delivery person, after delivering dog food, expressed gratitude for a simple act of kindness. After offering him water, he shook my hand and said, "You are a wonderful Humanity." This small gesture was a reflection of the values instilled by my late mother, who taught me to treat every visitor as a guest and at least offer them water. My spouse, who shares these values, had done the same for census workers just days before. This encounter was a reminder of how small acts of kindness can leave a lasting impact. Many of you might have heard of the Pareto Principle, commonly known as the 80:20 rule. Simply put ..for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.” In my experience, 20% of work takes up 80% of your time in India. Pareto principle therefore should be referred to as the OTERAP principle (that’s Pareto spelled in reverse).
