It’s a late night recording for Andrew and Johnny, as they take a look at perfect goddess Rose Byrne’s career, and discuss Hugh Dancy’s Will Graham performance. There’s tangents aplenty in reminiscing about 2000s twinkly indie music, space room decorations and Peter Gallagher’s eyebrows (OH MAN).

Rayna’s celebrating 10 years of being part of The Grand Ole Opry with a concert, whilst Layla and Jeff plan Layla Grant’s next career move, Scarlett goes on a Doctor Date and, hey, why don’t Avery and Gunnar spend an episode thinking of band names? Don’t fret, Andrew regails us with memories of his friendship with Colton ‘Colt’ Wheeler, a young man Andrew has had the pleasure of witnessing at the breakfast table wearing a baseball cap. Andrew dives deep into his own bad-time-at-a-job experiences, and Johnny runs through so many different storylines in this packed episode about a packed episode.

BATB 060 - I'm Lost Between Right And Wrong

Well, look, we’re embarrassed. We were certain that covering Roar instead of Raw was a one-off, and we were gonna watch the Palme D’or winning Titane this week, but… Disney+ didn’t have it, I was misled, and so we watch Don Bluth’s mega-flop 2D-3D hybrid space animation. In our defense, it has a gender-fluid lead, a bunch of crazy people together believing this person to be someone they aren’t and a prologue with childhood trauma, so it’s basically the same film as Titane, ok?

As 2021 closes up, Andrew and Johnny look back at the year’s episodes, the good, the bad and the forgotten entirely. It’s a chill overview of year 5 of the podcast, a good way to get settled in to the next run of the show if you’re wanting an entry point.

Ok, so, there was a bit of a mistake, this was meant to be us watching Julia Ducournau’s Raw in the build-up to us covering Titane next year, but it seems we got the wrong disk in so here’s us watching a movie about living with lions and tigers and hairy men, oh my! Andrew discusses seeing this film in a packed cinema, and Johnny rates animals based on how he’d most be comfortable living with them.

Deacon needs a new liver, so Scarlett calls her mother in, maybe fills a bathtub full of ice and preps a rusty knife just for her own sense of vengeance. Johnny runs through the compelling nature of Maddie Conrad being considered a potential next Taylor Swift in the eyes of Harvard’s pre-eminent beancounter Jeff Fordham, and Andrew firmly embraces a new form of sexuality through Blue Sky thinking.

It’s time to take a trip back to the mid-noughties and one of those TV-show-movie-spin-offs that is full of big cameos, big laughs, and weirdly unknown beyond those that are aware of the original show, or the Quibi reboot from 2020. It’s the first in-person recording since March 2020, and Andrew has made Johnny a red velvet cake, they taste it on-air! Johnny rates the Venom Burger from a promo event, whilst Andrew demonstrates a pitch-perfect Kristen Stewart As Princess Diana impression.

Layna/Ruke is no more, and it’s Wheels Up on Luke’s party-time angerfest, but more importantly Jeff Fordham, the bean counter from Harvard, is dealing with covering up an attempted suicide and a party gone wrong, whilst Will Lexington has to play the gay card on his recently-drowning wife to get the most sympathy from her on the hospital bed. That’s Johnny’s favourite character, and now we know why…
