Let’s have a quick one today as we continue talking about Legacy. We all want to be remembered for something when we leave this world. It is our desire that people will mention our names for what we’d have achieved even after we’re long gone; that others may even write about us. I am almost certain that must be a very good feeling. We are often advised to make the most of our youthful years and do as much as we can to be the best versions of ourselves. As much as being young is not an easy road, we can achieve this by doing a few things. Not necessarily like a road map but maybe a guideline on what we can do to leave a legacy. Read your BibleIt sounds very simple yet it requires a lot of discipline and commitment. Commit yourself to reading your Bible every day, not because it’s a ‘rule’ but for the desire to hear from God. To earn from His scriptures which are so refreshing. The living waters. This will surely please God and you will have lived a life that will set a good example for those coming after you. Pray Everyday Spend time with God; spare sometime amidst your busy schedule to have a quiet time with God and talk with Him. Prayer has a way of relieving us when stressed and worried, keeps us closer to God and is a great channel to build and grow a relationship with God. Pray Until Something Happens, just do not cease praying. Fellowship Interacting with people with whom we share certain values and interests keeps us on check and we keep growing. If you want to leave a legacy, learn to interact with people whereby you’re either the one learning from them, you’re all on the same level or you’re the one teaching them. This is very important because shared knowledge has no expiry date and what you know and can achieve keeps moving. You’ll always be remembered for the things you did and the way you treated those around you. Be a good friendShow up for your friends and family and be a good one. Whether it’s in the good times or the bad, work hard to be a really good friend. Friendships are important in life and whether they’re good or bad, they make a huge difference in the quality of lives we lead. Rev. Legacy

Do not allow other people to define you because it isn’t really who you actually are. People always have opinions of who they think we are and more often than not, they aren’t always right. It is inevitable to talk about self esteem without thinking about our identity where we have great insights as shared in IdentityA story is told of a very beautiful princess who was good at so many things but did not even realize her worth and value. Everyone around her was awed by her beauty and her great talents and gifts. She had the most beautiful voice and when she sang, everyone sat and listened to her. They enjoyed being around her because of her gracious nature and her gentle spirit. However, when she was all alone in her room, she would be filled with sadness and feel very lonely. Nothing she owned or did would convince her of her beauty. She had it in her already that she was ugly and did not like anything about her life. This is evidence of someone who does not understand how God sees them. We are who God says we are; who He sees us to be. His definition of us is our identity, it is who we are. First of all, we are His children and this is even more valuable than anything we can ever own or have. Knowing and understanding this helps us value ourselves as important, valued and cherished. For we are loved, and this should boost our self-esteem. God’s children have not been given the spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind. What other people think and say about us greatly affects what we think of ourselves. Hearing people’s opinions of us plays a huge role on what we define ourselves as. Unfortunately, we choose to stick with the negative comments and opinions. Just because naughty classmates from Pre-school called you ‘fat ‘and ‘ugly’, you choose to have this inscribed in your heart and you let yourself feel ugly when indeed you have been beautifully and wonderfully made. I obviously have so much to say about raising your self-esteem, but why not listen to Willy Kinyanjui who has even better insights. Self-Esteem

Being young is a mixture of so many experiences all in one. It is intriguing on one end then overwhelming on the other; scary yet the adventure is so worth it. Every step taken is one to learn from and we don’t quite have a manual on how to handle all these experiences. We are expected however, to be the best versions of ourselves and to achieve as much as we can because we have the potential to do so.  Mission impossible? No, totally doable. And how can we leave a legacy? First, by standing with the truth and hiding God’s word in our hearts and living according to its precepts. Allowing the Holy Spirit to mold us and work through us to fulfill our destinies enables us to achieve great things even beyond our age! Today, do not let your age make you feel any less valuable, you are meant for greatness and can totally achieve it if you allow God to guide you through your purpose. It may seem scary at first but in the end, He will reveal it to you and lives could even be transformed through you. So keep soaring and reaching out for the sky, you are not limited, you are chosen!

Legacy of my Youth

What is the scariest thing about having done anything that you are well aware you probably should not be doing? For most of us, it would have to be admitting that we did it. The shame, the judgement and of course the consequences, they are all really scary to imagine going through. From an early age, most of us learn to come up with loopholes to get ourselves out of trouble, including lying and blaming others for things we know all too well were our fault, to begin with. Remember Adam and Eve, when they ate the forbidden fruit, they decided to hide from God, because they were ashamed and on top of that, each of them had someone to blame for their disobedience. Sin always has a grip on us, not because we are powerless against it, but because we are overcome by guilt and condemnation. It deceives us that we can only survive if we try to hide, run away, do good things in order to make up for the bad and a host of other coping mechanisms. At the end of the day, all you actually have is a pile of dirty, stinking and disgusting self-hatred, and hopelessness. In truth, you are the one standing in your own way. So how do you get out of your own way?Let go! It’s that simple. The first step is to admit your wrongs to yourself. When you can finally admit that no matter how hard you try, you cannot do it on your own, you begin your first step into the journey of freedom. Next, admit it to God. Are you aware that as much as He is all-powerful and great, He is interested in every little detail of your life? However, He can never force Himself on you. Until you wholeheartedly let Him into those deep dark corners of yourself, you cannot experience the depth of the freedom that He has to offer. He gives us the free gift of His Son and an overflow of grace.Lastly, which is usually the hardest, share it with another individual. It is possible to find someone who will walk with you every step of the way. Every time you get tempted to get back to an old habit, this is the person who will help you to remember that you have power through Jesus Christ to overcome it. Someone who will support you and cheer you through every milestone. Our focus will then shift from ‘my mistakes’ to ‘Grace found me and now I’m free. I don’t know whether I am there yet, but I know I’m getting there, day after day. From grace to grace.’ So don’t get stuck in what you feel, say Jesus take the wheel. “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16“And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Rev 12:11 Using her testimony for God’s glory Ms. Nashami Wangara, the beautiful woman of God declares that though she believed in her heart that she did not deserve it, Grace found her when she least expected it. With a testimony so powerful, it has helped so many people find the freedom that they had never believed possible, she shows us that it doesn't matter what you have done.
