The second reviews options for students suffering from depression. The final story is about the threat of gun violence in schools and universities, and ways to confront that threat.

College Challenges

Three stories discuss the impact on WSU students of the Trump Administration's discontinuation of the DACA program.

WSU students impacted by the pending elimination of DACA

This program begins with a story from the Spokane Figure Skating Sectionals and a preview of the Winter Olympics. The controversies surrounding WSU Athletics funding, and WSU funding cuts are the topics of the next two stories. Finally, we speak with two reporters who helped cover a national story about the the WSU football coach's reported meeting with the University of Tennessee's former athletic director.

WA Sports

This episode includes four news stories about WA transportation. The first two stories discuss recent efforts to improve Washington State Route 26 following fatal accidents involving WSU students. The first year of the state Distracted Driving law is reviewed in the next story. The last story is about WSU's tests of new form of jet fuel that is derived from plants.

This episode reviews cases in which civil liberties are under attack in the state. The first chronicles news organizations' fight to make the WA Legislature follow the state's open records laws.
