Willo Hayden, has recently  signed with Queensberry Promotions. The Irish prospect has a mysterious following and has won gold at the 2016 European Championships. Hayden has over 300 amateur fights and is undefeated in 45 championship fights in Ireland. Hayden says that he would have loved to go to the senior level and the World Championships but waiting wouldn’t have been optimal for his ultimate goals at the professional levels.Frank Warren said on signing Hayden;“I am both delighted and excited to be adding Willo to our ranks. To breaking their body and mind over and over again in the chase of becoming the best.  Maureen Shea epitomises all that. She fought battles outside the ring just to be able to do all of the above. She suffered in ways that not many recover from  and she joins us on this episode to tell it all,With a record of 29-2 (13KO), Maureen was born and raised in the Bronx, New York to an Irish father, ( NYPD detective and Mexican Mum.As a pro she first trained with Luigi Olcese, she was eventually brought to Gleasons to train with well respected trainer Hector Roca and went on to hold the WBC interim female featherweight title,  the IFBA super bantamweight title and challenged once for the WBA female super featherweight title in 2009 shes also won the NABA Featherweight title and IFBA Junior Featherweight title. Maureen is currently ranked number 2 by the WBA.

Both have gone on to carve out their own paths in the sport and, 20 years on, Al speaks to Irish News journalist and boxing expert Neil Loughran on his memories. Boxing took centre stage at the weekend again with shows in UK, US and Australia. Closer to home it was the Copperbox and Matchroom as Shannon Courtenay had decided to become the righteous, defender of the sport of boxing as she repeatedly attempted to criticise and chastise her Australian opponent Ebanie Bridges for using her &apos;assets&apos; to sell the fight. The irony of this hypocrisy wasn&apos;t lost on  most fans, with some suggesting maybe Shannon was upset at being upstaged. How and ever - the fight was a cracker and set the bar forConor Benn as he followed with a stunning first round KO over much travelled and highly experienced Samuel Vargas. But the main event for all boxing fans last weekend was the rescheduled WBO Light Heavyweight title showdown in Oklahoma between fan favourite &apos;Irish Bomber&apos; Joe Smith jr and Maxim Vlasov who had previously beaten Isaac Chilemba and only lost to Gilberto Ramirez and Krzysztof Glowacki. It didn&apos;t disappoint - on the contrary - it stole the weekend and is leading the chase for fight of the year.
