 I've just completed rebuilding my personal CV (academic resume, or Curriculum Vitae).  Curriculum Vitae (CV) is a Latin phrase meaning "Course of Life."  It refers to the document people in certain professions create to demonstrate their career-long growth in expertise, experience, and education.  CVs are unlike resumes.  The word "resume" is a 19th century French word meaning "to sum up," meaning that a resume is only supposed to 'summarize' one's life work in the most abbreviated fashion possible, typically a page or two.  In the case of higher education and some other fields, CVs are expected to be substantial and detailed.  They are supposed to document claims to expertise, experience, and education, providing the reader with proof of each.  For this reason, CV's/Expanded Resumes are substantial and usually quite long documents.
