It's Nebraska Week, and we're here to help with your holiday traveling: It's Erin Sorensen (@erinsorensen), our most-of-the-time friend from Hail Varsity, to discuss Rivalry Week from the perspective of that team out west.  I'd say that this is about the game, but it's really not.  It's about Nebraska football at a macro level, and how the reality of a program scrambling to avoid three straight losing seasons goes to war with the "Look At Our National Championships" fan base that supports it.  I love pretty much all of our podcasts, but I really love this one.  I hope you will, too.

Minnesota is 9-0 and coming to Kinnick Saturday.  This is not a drill.  We man the battle stations and talk with Gopher expert JD (@jdmill) of Taken All Wrong, a Minnesota sports podcast.  JD also writes a bit about the Gophers over at Still Got Hope.  We discuss the usual: Fleck, quarterbacks, Minnesota's plagiarism of early-aughts Iowa, and the current structure of the Minnesota Pyramid of Hate.  It is civil, nearly friendly, like John Wick sharing a drink with that guy who's trying to kill John Wick.

It's Wisconsin Week, which usually means we talk to the long-winded but informative Jake Kocorowski (@jakekoco) from Bucky's 5th Quarter.  Jake is with Badger Blitz (@Badger_Blitz), the Wisconsin Rivals site, now, but he's still our guy in Cheeseland and has put a bit of a governor on the answers.  We hope you enjoy this look at a football game that promises to resemble trench warfare.

Sometimes it's really tough to come up with an idea for a Total Detest Live song.  Sometimes there just isn't anything that comes to mind that is applicable, or it's something too obscure to be available in an instrumental track, or covering something like "It's the End of the World as We Know It" becomes impossible because there simply aren't enough relevant jokes. And then there are times when you're playing just Northwestern and you have all that recent history of cosmic ineptitude by Iowa, and there's a readily-available song about someone who keeps screwing everything up with a perfect name. And so, for Total Detest Live, Northwestern week, we present: "Just" by Radiohead.

It's the last weekend of October, which brings the dreaded Northwestern Wildcats and their particular brand of Ferentz-bustin'.  We talk about how Iowa is going to blow yet another game against Chicago's Big Ten Team with Noah Coffman (@coffman_noah) of Inside NU (@InsideNU), the SB Nation Northwestern site.  And then we fret for a few minutes.  We'll be fretting until Saturday afternoon, to be honest.  This game is fretful.  It's full of fret.

Here to strike fear into us this week is an old friend, Ben Jones (@Ben_Jones88) from StateCollege.com.  We had Ben on back when the podcast was more whiskey-fueled, and if it wasn't already pretty sober before he started talking about the Nittany Lions' pass rush, it certainly got sober after it. Afterwards, Adam and Pat lamented what could be an abrupt end to the days of wine and roses (and the start of the season of Outbacks).

The fact that Crash Test Dummies got to the top of the charts with a song that is literally called "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm" is just about the most 1993 thing ever.  But when you have to write a song about Michigan, a school that frequently calls itself simply "M", what better starting point than a song with the most Ms per capita of any song ever recorded AND a song that was still sorta popular the last time Michigan was relevant after October 1?

It's Michigan Week, and in the aftermath of their mollywhopping at Wisconsin and bounce-back shutout of Rutgers, there's a lot to discuss.  Is Jim Harbaugh actually in trouble?  Can Big Blue run the offense its coaches want to run?  How is it they looked so small on the defensive line in Madison?  And what might happen when Iowa comes to the Big House this weekend? Here to answer all of that for us and more is Ace Anbender (@AceAnbender), one of the resident Michigan Men from mGoBlog.  Adam and Pat discuss what the next couple of weeks mean for 2019 Iowa writ large for about 15 minutes at the end. It's a good, informative listen, and we hope you'll join us.

Not gonna lie: We don't have much to say on Middle Tennessee State, so we kind of looked back from it and past it at the same time.  We start with a discussion of the Hawkeye Marching Band fiasco/scandal/issue with a former HMB member, to get a view into the psychology of the Band and discuss how this happened, how the rest of it played out, and how it might look in the future.  Then Pat and Adam discuss MTSU, which is to say that they discuss Michigan and give Iowa the Big Ten West championship on the spot.

It's probably the biggest Cy-Hawk Week ever, and yet nobody really knows what to think of the Cyclones.  So we turn to a man who knows them best of all the people who haven't yet blocked us on Twitter: The Gazette's Mike Hlas.  Not only does Mike cover ISU, but he also has his own podcast: The aptly-named Mike Hlas Podcast, where Hlastradamus picks all the winners from the week's coming games.  I tried to make a Bob Loblaw Law Blog joke.  It didn't go well.

I mean, this is a horrible idea... We're going to mock every Iowa opponent worth mocking in parody song for the 2019 season. We start with Rutgers, which means we start with either Bon Jovi or Springsteen.  We went with the latter.  We're not savages.
