Gods Word Community Church Following Him to Calvary The God Who Chases Us!The last Gospel written, John's Gospel, writes the story no one else had written about why Jesus made his very last trip to Jerusalem. Friends living close to Jerusalem sent Jesus a message that a good friend, Lazarus, their brother, was dying of an illness. Jesus performs one of his greatest miracles in raising Lazarus from the dead, but the miracle provokes the religious leaders, and they make plans to execute him. When Jesus comes to Jerusalem from Lazarus's home, the people lay palm branches in front of him as he enters the city: "Hosanna!,' they say. They think he is their Messiah against the Romans, but his goal is higher: He has come to save all mankind from our sins. Jesus warns his disciples what is coming, that he is going to die, and it is the greatest thing for all mankind, but they resist him. The Apostle appeals to the church members that are not working, causing scandals and living off of other members of the church. It appears the Thessalonians originally thought Jesus was coming back so soon they saw no reason to keep their jobs. The Apostle Paul lived very differently among them, working hard and providing for his own needs. Both Jesus and the man of sin are said to be coming. Both have a gospel and both say that they alone should be worshiped.
