Pool Fun

I hate the dentist, the chair, the dental assistant, the shots, and especially the drill. But there's one thing that keeps me going back to the dentist, the desire to have good breath, and the desire to have a good smile. Well maybe that's two things but either way I know that even in the midst of all the drilling and numbness, the final outcome will leave me with a smile and breath that'll leave me looking like a smiley happy camper You know this life has a lot of crazy things that we have to endure. We endure pains, hurts, losses, and sometimes have to make decisions that honestly we just don't want to make. but we must understand even in the midst of our trials, God has a plan where His final outcome is that our joy will be fulfilled. 1 Peter 1:6 says Be truly glad There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. So let me encourage you, even though this life may be drilling on you, just know that there is great joy ahead that much like the dentist visit, will leave you smiling from ear to ear. It’s that time: holiday cheer, the sound of sleigh bells, and buy buy buy our way into happiness. Yes Thanksgiving is a day to remember the many blessings that have been given to us; our life, family, our jobs, and our eternal salvation hidden in Jesus. We have so much to be thankful for, yet as thanksgiving presents itself, many homes are planning how they can chime in on the holiday sales, beating others to the stores, gaining the best bargains on that new TV, or gathering all the videos they can at that all time low price, and the attitude that fills the malls; well its an attitude that’s everything but an attitude of thankfulness. Honking horns and cursing can be heard in the shopping mall parking lots, cutting in line, shoving and pushing is found on the inside of the stores across the nation, and the thankfulness found on that day; well I guess it only lasts until the turkey has begun to digest. We find people uptight, and stressed, neglecting to take a moment to remember what the Lord has done in their lives. Listen scripture says in the book of Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said; “never will I leave you never will I forsake you. So we can say with confidence, the Lord is my helper, I can not be afraid what can man do to me? I encourage you; take your time remembering what the Lord has done for you this year. The year may have presented its trials, you may have had to endure some tribulations, but be encouraged by the fact that God, the God who created you, loves you, and will never leave you abandoned. Camp Monkeys

 Have you ever heard a traffic news update that reported everything but the traffic? More than likely not. These reporters have one job when they step into the cockpit of that chopper and that is to report the traffic, if they did anything else we’d be a little upset wouldn’t we? We want them to do their job of telling us the best roads to travel that will get us to our destination without any accidents or detours. Because when they do their job we get to plan our lives more effectively. In a like manner there are many Christians who have failed to do their jobs as Christians, and no I’m not saying that we need to get into a helicopter and report the good news of Jesus; however that wouldn’t be a bad idea. However we are instructed to lead people off of the road that leads to hell, and give them the news that will lead them towards the paths of righteousness, and eternity in Heaven. Scripture tells us “to go into the entire world and preach the gospel, make disciples”. But many Christians have just sat back and enjoyed the scenery of the world, fixing their focus on the things of the world, and failing to do as we are instructed to do. I encourage you to set your sights on what God has called us to do. Let’s begin reporting the good news of Jesus to the world. News Helicopter

We’ve all heard the commercials on the radio. Some person is acting as if the car, grill, microwave, or well you fill in the blank. They act as if this item is the best thing that has ever happened to them. Boasting about how it’s changed their life, when in reality, it’s just another object. These commercials are designed to entice us so that we’d think “Hey I want to be as happy as those people are, maybe I need what they have.” When in reality, you and I need nothing more than what God has given to us, our life. This world will try to entice us to chase everything it has to offer, but we should remind ourselves that scripture tells us not to store up these earthly treasures where someone can break in and steal them, but store up treasures in heaven. I want to challenge you to not only strive after living your life with one purpose which is to love the Lord with your life, but I challenge you to speak as loudly as these commercials do about how satisfied you are living your life for the Lord. Tell others that Jesus is the only way to true happiness. You’ll see that just as much as some people run out to buy the next car as a result of these false commercials, somebody may very well ask you how they can get a hold of a relationship with God because of your truth filled witness. Well, I’ve been to some flea markets myself, and I have purchased my share of useless stuff. In fact many of us have. That’s what garage sales are for right? Getting rid of all those things that we purchased on a whim? Well let me ask you, are you wondering around the world as if it were your flea market, doing whatever you want to do with your life? Have you been living contrary to the way God would want you to live, in search for that temporal pleasure, in search of that worldly lifestyle? If so then I think you should realize that this pursuit will not go without consequence. As we look into the book of Genesis we see that Adam and eve were given the best of the best. The best fruits, the best vegetables, and even the best life. They were free to do what they desired, but God gave them one condition, telling them to stay away from one tree, and  one piece of Fruit. We know the story, Eve was tempted by the devil, and she took a bite. And rather than tasting the taste of wonderful fruit, she tasted disobedience to God, She tasted separation from God, and as a result she and Adam were banished from the garden. This is a story that all of us have heard and read in our Bibles on many occasions, but let me ask you, are you living your life in the same way? You see this life gives us plenty of opportunity to gather the things of the world. The lust for power, money, and riches are things that all of us have been tempted to chase at one time or another; but let me warn you; stay away… This world is not your flea market. We cannot just live any way we want or feel like. God desires that we would live with the mindset of pleasing Him, and Him alone. So if you have developed a mindset to please yourself without considering the consequences, I encourage you to stop. Turn your eyes to the Lord, and chase him and him alone. Not only will you enjoy your life, but you won’t be kicked out of heaven, in fact you’ll be able to confidently say that you’ve got a place reserved for you in kingdom of God.
