La'Javier Turner Graduated in 2015, played Running Back and Linebacker for Gadsden County HS under coach Antonio Carter and for Corey Fuller, recorded 25 tackles, three tackles for loss and 580 yards rushing with three touchdowns in his senior season to earn All-Big Bend honorable mention, posted 60 tackles and eight tackles for loss in his junior campaign, adding three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and four sacks to go with 560 rushing yards and 25 receptions for 230 receiving yards to earn All-County honors, posted 104 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss as a sophomore, recording six sacks, four forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries to earn All-County honors, ran for 215 yards as a freshman. Born in Tallahassee to son of Aquiania Dalapierre and Wayne Turner he has a brother, De’Anthony, and a sister, A’lexus plans on majoring in economics and communication. In this episode of the Life and Football Podcast our special guest was Jeff Eaton. Jeff Eaton is Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach @ Oregon. This was a great interview.  Eaton was Assistant Director of Football Strength & Conditioning @ Purdue. At UNLV he was responsible for the implementation and instruction of the softball strength & conditioning program in 2016-17. He also assisted with the Runnin’ Rebels’ football strength & conditioning program. Prior to UNLV, Eaton spent two seasons (2014-15) at Morgan State, first as a graduate assistant before moving to assistant strength & conditioning coach. He worked directly with the men’s basketball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, women’s volleyball, and spirit squad strength & conditioning programs, while assisting with the football program. Eaton got his start in coaching as an intern at Penn State with the 2006 Orange Bowl team, under coach John Thomas. In 2009, Eaton interned at San Diego State under the direction of Aaron Wellman and served as an athletic performance intern at Baylor in 2011 under the direction of Kaz Kazadi. Highlights from his time with the Bears included working with Heisman Trophy winner and National Football League first-round draft pick Robert Griffin III and first-round draft pick Kendall Wright. Eaton was responsible for the implementation and instruction of Baylor’s spirit squad athletic performance program, while assisting with football. Eaton earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation management from Lock Haven University in 2009 and a master’s degree in higher education from UNLV in 2017. He holds a certification through the CSCCa (Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Association) and is a certified Level I Performance Coach through the USAW. Eaton and his wife, Beth, have a daughter, Eva, and a son, Titus. Jeff Eaton Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach @ Oregon

In this episode of the Life and Football Podcast our special guest was Drew Davis. Drew Davis is the Director of Player Development UCLA. This was an amazing interview! His outstanding character epitomized by him receiving the 16th annual Watkins Memorial Award as the nation’s top African American male high school scholar athlete. He played college football for the University of Oregon. The Falcons signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2011. Davis signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent on July 26, 2011.He was released on September 3 for final roster cuts before the start of the 2011 season. The next day, he was added to the team's practice squad. Davis was released again on August 31, 2012 for final roster cuts for the 2012 season and signed to practice squad the next day. On September 8, he was promoted to the active 53-man roster. He made his NFL debut in the Week 1 win against the Kansas City Chiefs. In week 8, Davis scored his first touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles on a 15-yard pass by Matt Ryan. Drew Davis Director of Player Development for UCLA Football

In this episode of the Life and Football Podcast our special guest was Andrea Perry. Andrea Perry is the Director of Football Operations for StetsonUniversityHatters. This was a great interview, that all will enjoy. Perry worked at North Carolina Central University from August 2018 until March 2020, serving as the Assistant Director of Football Operations at her alma mater for two seasons. From August of 2019 to March of 2020, Perry also served as the Director of On-Campus Recruiting/Assistant Personnel Director where she assisted the recruiting coordinator in all aspects of recruiting procedures. Following her stint at North Carolina Central, Perry served as the Athletic Travel Coordinator at Fresno State from March 2020 until January 2021. In her role at Fresno State, Perry provided administrative and financial support to the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Business Operations, specifically assisting coaches with coordinating team travel for their respective programs. Perry earned a B.S. in Kinesiology and Recreation from North Carolina Central in May of 2019 before earning a Master of Science in Athletic Administration in May of 2021. Andrea Perry - Director of Football Operations for Stetso University Hatters

In this episode of the Life and Football Podcast our special guest was Leigh Anne Tuohy. Leigh Anne Tuohy is a motivational speaker, businesswoman, interior designer, NY Times best selling author, mom, wife & TV personality. This was a great and fun interview. She is best known for being the adoptive mother of Michael Oher. Their story was featured in the 2006 book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game and its 2009 feature film adaptation The Blind Side. In the film, Tuohy was portrayed by Sandra Bullock, who won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for her performance. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Mrs. and Mr. Roberts, a U.S. air marshal. Growing up, she was close to her grandmother, who lived with her family. She graduated from Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, Tennessee. In the early 1980s, she graduated from University of Mississippi, where she became a member of the Kappa Delta sorority, was a cheerleader, and met her future husband, Sean Tuohy, a basketball player for the Ole Miss Rebels. Tuohy and her husband own more than 85 fast food franchises. They have 3 kids. And Their Son SJ is now in an administrative position for the University of Central Florida Football. This was a great interview with great insight into the Life and Football of a Director of Football Operations. Lynn Mentzer joined the Missouri State staff as director of football operations in January 2018 She came to Springfield from Coastal Carolina University where she has served in a similar capacity for the Coastal football program since 2005. Mentzer was a student office assistant when the Coastal Carolina program began in 2002 and its first season of competition in 2003. She was also a part of the program’s transition from FCS to FBS competition in 2016 after a successful run of seven Big South Conference championships, six FCS playoff appearances and 10 weeks ranked No. 1.  She was awarded the game ball for a win 2011 after taking over the equipment manager responsibilities for the last week of the season.  The native of Kenton, Ohio earned her degree in business management from Coastal Carolina in 2005. Lynn Mentzer - Director of Football Operations

Nolan Turner - Former Alabama State Full Back and Tight End

In this episode of the Life and Football Podcast our special guest was Drew Engels. Drew Engels is the offensive line coach, run-game coordinator, and recruiting coordinator for the Flying Fleet of Erskine College. Engels was the offensive line coach and run game coordinator for the Fire at Southeastern University. He spent three seasons as the offensive line coach, assistant head coach, and recruiting coordinator at Warner University. There, he tutored two-time AFCA All-American tackle Dajshon Oliver. Under the tutelage of Engels, the Royals’ offensive line went from giving up nearly three sacks per game to 1.3. During the 2014 season, Engels was a graduate assistant for Chuck Martin at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, working with the Redhawks’ offensive line. He also spent two seasons working at Western Michigan University under coaches Bill Cubit and P.J. Fleck. Engels has also coached at Hope College, where he graduated from, as well as Grand Valley State University, helping the Lakers reach the NCAA Division II Championship, and Grandville High School. Defensive Backs Coach Keelon Brookins enters his third season at UNI as a defensive backs assistant coach in the fall of 2021. Brookins helped coach All-conference DB Omar Brown. Brown and Xavior Williams earned All-Conference honors during the 2019 season and helped UNI finish third in the FCS and first in the MVFC in interceptions. Brookins came to UNI from Central Missouri where he was a graduate assistant, but he is not unfamiliar with the Panthers. He spent the 2017 season as a graduate transfer when he recorded two interceptions and four sacks. He is a native of the Twin Cities. In this episode of the Life and Football Podcast our special guest was DOMINIQUE BOWMAN. Dominique Bowman is currently the cornerback coach for Marshall. A native of Memphis, Bowman played college football at Lambuth University under current Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze where he earned all-conference honors as both a junior and senior. He graduated from Lambuth in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree. Bowman came to Marshall from UT Martin where he was co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. He had previously served as assistant head coach and defensive backs coach for the Skyhawks during the 2017-18 seasons. He spent parts of two seasons at Ohio Valley Conference rival Austin Peay from 2019-20. While with the Governors, he served as the program’s co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach during its championship campaign in 2019 and through the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign. Before UT Martin, Bowman served as the defensive backs coach at the University of Arkansas at Monticello for the 2016 season. While leading the secondary unit, the Weevils tallied 11 interceptions on the year along with 34 pass breakups. Bowman coached Highschool Football in Memphis. DOMINIQUE BOWMAN - Conerback Coach at Marshall

In this episode of the Life and Football Podcast our special guest was Eric Mele. Eric Mele is the Running Backs Coach at Mississippi State University. This was a great interview and Coach Mele gives great insight into his Life and Football Journey! Mele was a three-year starter at strong safety and outside linebacker at William Paterson, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology and criminal justice in 2002. He earned his master’s degree in sports management from the American Military University in 2007. He and his wife, Melissa, have four daughters, Samantha, Jordan, Taylor and Madison. He worked the 2005 season as the co-defensive coordinator/special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach at Marist High School (N.J.), helping it to the program’s first playoff berth in 12 seasons. Mele also worked two seasons as the special teams coordinator/defensive backs coach at William Paterson University (N.J.). Prior to Wingate, Mele spent the 2006 season as the wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator at Saint Peter’s College (N.J.). Mele spent five seasons as the special teams coordinator/running backs coach at Wingate University (2007-11).  Mele spent the previous nine seasons at Washington State (2012-19), including his final two seasons as running backs coach. Eric Mele was named MSU’s running backs coach on February 4, 2020.
