Today our coast faces serious environmental challenges, and in the final episode of the season, the citizens who helped craft the FRA reflect on the successes and shortcomings of the law and the current state of North Carolina's marine resources. This special 3-episode Lo & Behold season chronicles the story of the 1997 Fisheries Reform Act (FRA), a bill that dramatically changed the way North Carolina's coast was fished and regulated. Three years prior to the law, the state’s legislature forced a moratorium on the sale of commercial fishing licenses and creation of new fishery policy.
