Well, that's it folks. We're ending Men Like That much like we began it (the first time, before Brandon!); with a complicated plot line involving time-travel and silly magic and stuff. Even Jeff is here, too, for all you OGs. We're all really glad you actual strangers listened to the show. It means a lot to us that we made something that ya'll regularly downloaded and tuned into on a weekly basis. So, the truth is we're not ending the show because we feel like we failed (even though we are, as individuals, failures) but instead because we want to continue to put our effort, time, and energy into something we could better explain to a newcomer. We decided we want to work on something that folks couldn't possibly ever mistake for an actual advice show, or something tailed specifically for men [vomit sounds here]. "Men Like That" was inspired by a line from The Room; it was never meant to imply we're creating content specifically for the boys! So ... our upcoming podcast Podford University promises to be as ludicrous and irreverent as MLT ever was, if not moreso, while offering an easier and more unique pitch to newcomers. Can you believe it? 50 beautiful episodes, we've really made it. You know, in dog podcasts we'd have about 350 episodes by now. Isn't that amazing? 350 episodes if we were three stupid dogs making a podcasts about dog trash. We'd probably bark up a storm and talk about how good it is to eat grass, chew on bones, and chase those cats around the neighborhood. It's fun to imagine what our podcasts would be like if we were three big beautiful dogs. A few old friends come by this episode to celebrate with us too! All of your old favorites swinging by to help us answer some of your questions. It's truly amazing all of the friends we've made along the way while recording this podcast. It really makes you wonder what kind of guests we would've had stop by if we were three big dogs recording a podcast instead of humans...

The size of one of our backyards is called into question on this episode. Maybe the size of someone's backyard shouldn't even be brought up on a podcast, maybe that's something personal that should be between a person and their loved ones who share the backyard with them. But the fact of the matter is it happened and it can't be taken back now, this is something that will live on forever on the internet. One of us will die with that shame now. Now maybe the size of someone's backyard shouldn't matter, maybe it's what you can do with it that counts... maybe it's the memories you make with that backyard that matter. The point is it should've never been brought up and now we might have to end the podcast. It shouldn't have to come to this, but hey that's where we are. Hope you enjoy the episode...

Men Like That - Episode XLIX: Kubb-y Dooby Where Are You?

What's your favorite part of the pickle? The crunch? The sour? The color green? Maybe you don't like pickled cucumbers though, maybe you prefer picked radishes or onions. Maybe you don't like pickles at all, perhaps when it comes to vegetables you're a "fresh is best" kind of person. That's fine! We're not judging anyone based on their pickle preferences... well, one of us is, but that's up to you to figure out. We're a pro-pickle podcast and we're not just saying that because we love alliteration. No, we love pickles here. In fact we've completely stopped eating foods that aren't pickled because it just makes more sense to us. Pickled foods last longer, they have a bunch of juice in them you can drink, AND once the apocalypse is fully underway we can all but guarantee that pickles will become a staple in bartering for goods and services. So grab a jar of your favorite Vlasics and dig into this new fresh episode before we decide to pickle it.

Wow, we did it. We made it to San Diego Comic-Con and they let us do some talking. Comic-Con is the time of year where people talk about their favorite superheroes and sometimes they also talk about Sonic the Hedgehog. We were there to talk about the former, and boy oh boy did we have a heck of a time. Because of the state of the world Comic-Con was completely digital this year so we streamed on their official Twitch channel and waxed poetically about very strong people with powers. If you didn't get a chance to watch our stream we're giving you a wonderful chance to listen to it in the form of a podcast episode! Maybe you did get a chance to watch the stream, but our dumb faces were so distracting you barely understood what we were talking about, well you're in luck! So sit back, relax, and listen to us talk about comics or whatever.

For the past few years people have been going crazy about cell phones. They're the phones you can bring every where, you can talk to anyone you want no matter where you are. We don't know about the rest of you, but here at Men Like That HQ, well we think that's pretty neat! We think it's great that if you're out grocery shopping you can still have a friend call to say "hello" because a good "hello" from a great friend is one of life's simple pleasures, there's no denying that. We can't wait to share some good cell phone stories with all of you. We also dive into that age old question of "how do you get bugs out of your body or out of pipes?" There's a lot of takes on the internet about what you should do in this situation, so we're going to give you our very own spicy take, just like you always want. Keep some ice on hand before you listen to this episode, because we're coming in hot.

The internet is absolutely going wild right now because no matter what someone cuts into it always turns out to be cake. This is the future we live in. We are in an absolutely terrible dystopia and the only ounce of pleasure we can seem to get is seeing a disembodied hand cut into a toilet roll or a box of Kix only to find out that both items were just chocolate cake all along. This is our reward for living through a pandemic. You know what though? The cake content is nice and its comforting and no one will remember it in two weeks. What will replace the cake content? Maybe every time someone sits on a couch it's really just a bunch of hams? Maybe every time you listen to this podcast it turns out to be a Stephen King audiobook, guess you won't know unless you listen.

We hope you're excited for a lot of Flintstones talk because we've got that modern stone age family on the brain. There's nothing we love more than really digging into some Flintstones science and trying to figure out how that beautiful family of freaks lived. What is your favorite live-action Flintstones film? Is it the first one with Rosie O'Donnell as Betty Rubble? OR is it the second one where they go to Rock Vegas and Stephen Baldwin plays Barney Rubble? There is only one correct answer, and if this helps, only one of them has Alan Cumming playing one of the greatest Flintstones characters. The character I'm obviously talking about is the Great Gazoo, the alien that only Fred and Barney can see that calls them "dumb dumbs." So grab your favorite slab of old dinosaur meat and listen to a nice new episode.

We know we’re a little late, but in honor of Father’s Day we’ve got some good dad talk in this episode. We like to pride ourselves here in knowing what dad’s love. Dads love Gone in 60 Seconds and it just so happens this month marks the 20th anniversary of the theatrical release of that dad-pleaser. Nothing gets a dad’s gears going like watching Nicolas Cage go fast, oh boy. Just thinking about how happy all of those cars make our dads brings a big tear to our eyes. So grab your dad and maybe listen to this episode with him and in the immortal words of Nicolas Cage in Gone in 60 Seconds: “you better not leave me alone with a cool red car because it will be gone in 60 seconds.”

Did you know that as of the week of this release Best Buy’s Geek Squad is 26 years old? It feels like only yesterday those goofballs were helping us fix our dad’s chunky PCs because we kept trying to mod the copies of Leisure Suit Larry we weren’t supposed to have in the first place! But Geek Squad was there for us, they got rid of the viruses and most importantly they didn’t tell our dads about Larry. It might be hard to find the right way to say thank you for all the Geeks have done for us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t try. Hopefully we’ll be able to help you out with that and maybe, just maybe, we can finally give something back to those lovable Geeks.
