"These kids smoke better dope than I do." We watched Friday the 13th Part 2 with our friends Jackson Cooper and Pickens Barringer and the body count continues! Clocking in at a brisk 87 minutes (shorter than the length of this episode!) this quickie sequel cranks up the scares, the gore and the casual nudity - not to mention the wall-to-wall cute boys.  Pretty-boy Scott (Russel Todd), sensitive Mark (Tom McBride), oversexed Jeff (Bill Randolph), even prankster Ted (Stuart Charno) can all hit it six ways to Sunday.  Even square head-counselor Paul (John Furey) is serving up major 80's hottie vibes.  At the end of the day, final-girl Ginny played by Amy Steel is the real MVP of this one.  Donning full Mrs. Voorhees drag, she goops and gags Jason to take the crown and make it out of Camp Crystal Lake alive... barely. "I'm gonna get my Liberace records!"  We watched Misery (1990) and we still feel all oogie.  From master horror author Stephen King, Misery give us absolute lunatic Annie Wilkes brought to us in an Academy Award winning performance by Kathy Bates.  The ultimate super-fan, Wilkes takes obsession to new heights when she holds romance novelist Paul Sheldon (James Caan) hostage after a near fatal car accident. This movie is so well acted we even buy Sonny Corleone as a romance novelist! Do we all have a little Annie Wilkes in us? Hopefully not too much.  But I'll be damned if I'm watching a movie with a less than cohesive plot and I want to just scream... HE DIDN'T GET OUT OF THE COCK - A - DOODIE CAR! How’s your head?  We watched Sleepy Hollow (1999) with our friend and MTMUG Superstar Billy Roach and tonight the horseman comes for you!  This movie is peak Tim Burton - we’re talking dramatic American-Gothic scenery, Johnny Depp putting on a silly voice, and Lisa Marie scaring the ever loving heck out of us.  Not to mention Miranda Richardson in a drag-worthy dual role and Christina Ricci looking like a living Margaret Keen painting.  It’s funny, scary, definitely campy and at times a straight up gore-fest.  Do yourself a favor and revisit Sleepy Hollow. "Donnie Darko. What the hell kind of name is that? It's like some sort of superhero or something." We watched Donnie Darko with MTMUG Superstar Michael Morgan and we have serious doubts about your commitment to Sparkle Motion! It's our first Jake Gyllenhaal review and this movie does not disappoint.  Remember when the gays would constantly claim Jake as one of our own?  We just couldn't resist that doe-eyed stare. Donnie Darko really put Jake on the mainstream radar.  First of all can we talk about this cast?  Drew Barrymore's Flower Films production company went to bat to get this movie made and and Drew herself plays Donnie's too-cool English teacher.  America's hipster girlfriend and Jakes real-life sister Maggie Gyllenhaal, absolute icon Patrick Swayze and the Legendary Beth Grant, to name a few, round out this stellar ensemble.  Is there really an answer to what this movie is actually about? Maybe not - but we try to get to the bottom of it.  We'll leave you with this... The last of the Disney Classic fairy tales - until The Little Mermaid was released 30 years later. Nothing comes close to Eleanor Audley's ICONIC performance as Maleficent. We all can agree the Mistress of Evil has got some style! I mean who hasn't let their petty side come out after realizing you weren't invited to the party? Throw in the DREAMY Prince Eric and the Drag Queen Ursula and you have one heck of a homosexual experience.  Do you remember where you were when you first realized the Disney animators actually and truly used Divine as visual inspiration for one of the best Disney villains (fight me)?  Now SING! "You ruined my new jacket! Kill him A LOT!" We watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) with our friend Jacob Carrillo and we still just want to marry Christian Slater and die. Back before Sarah Michelle Gellar and the "Scooby gang" were galavanting around Sunnydale trying to close the Hellmouth, there was the Buffy movie with Kristy Swanson and the oh-so-dreamy Luke Perry.  Serving as a jumping-off point for the TV series, the movie itself is super charming with its uber 90's cast, wardrobe and overall aesthetic.  Luke Perry in a Caesar cut and soul patch? “I want brain parasites.” We watched Fight Club (1999) with our friend Drew Stanley and we want you to hit us as hard as you can.  It’s our TENTH movie from 1999 which just proves it really was the best movie year ever.  Not to worry - we don’t go too hard on the forensic analysis of this often misunderstood movie.  We do however touch on themes of toxic masculinity, hyper violence and the acid-goth-rave wardrobe of Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter.  Director David Fincher’s ahead of their time visuals were immediately ripped off, firmly  placing the visual style of the movie into pop culture history. Ok we get it - how could a movie about a group of shirtless men meeting in a dark basement to pound the living hell out each other possibly have gay undertones?  Oh wait. “The biggest problem in the universe is that nobody helps each other.” We watched Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace with Star Wars superfan Nikolas Romero and we have a bad feeling about this.  It’s a tale as old as time… taxation of trade routes, arguments on the senate floor, you know - kid stuff.  The script may have it’s problems but we have a special place in our hearts for this endearing, while flawed, scifi classic. Maybe the political intrigue goes on a bit too long but this movie did bestow onto the world Natalie Portman’s Queen Amidala and her killer wardrobe, super-dreamy Ewan McGregor as young Obi-Wan Kenobi and Liam Neeson serving in that lace-front as grizzled Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn.  Do we have an extensive Star Wars memorabilia collection? Yes.   Is part of that collection numerous Queen Amidala Fashion dolls? Absolutely.  Do we agree on who exactly is the Phantom Menace? Not at all. 114. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace with special guest Nikolas Romero

“Well, darlin’, look out, cause my hair is comin’ down!” We watched Thelma & Louise (1991) with our friend and special Oscars correspondent Joshua Clement and we’d risk it all for a night with early 90’s Brad Pitt any day.  We really get into the lore behind the making of this quintessentially American movie.  From on-set spontaneous country line-dancing, to the long road to casting Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis.  Ultimately it had to be those two - but could you see Meryl and Goldie hitting the road and raising hell? Susan and Geena went on to receive dual Academy Award nominations for Best Actress but it was another Southern spitfire who took the gold that year… but that conversation is for another episode (perhaps over some fava beans).  Oscar wins or no, Thelma & Louise will be remembered for stunning lead performances, a controversial ending and bestowing Brad Pitt’s 8 pack abs unto humanity. Do you dot your "I"'s with little hearts? Thats so cute. We watched View From the Top (2003) with our friend Brad Liberti and we’re ready to fly the friendly skies.  This light hearted comedy about a brassy gal who makes her way out of a tacky commuter airline and into the big leagues had a few stumbles on its way to First Class, International.  It’s Christmas 2001 release was put on hold after 9/11 and its subsequent re-writes and edits hurt the overall tone.  It wants to be wackier than it is and other times the wackiness is out of place (Mike Myers' wandering eye!). And let’s not forget - no one screams small-town trailer park gal more than Gwyneth Paltrow. The cast is really giving it their all and overall the movie is charming. But we’re still trying to imagine the world in which a former flight attendant can become so famous as to become a mogul on the level of Oprah or Martha Stewart. “He’s so handsome, just like his rewards posters.” We watched Robin Hood with the insightful Matt Baume (Matt Baume’s Culture Cruise) and oo-de-lally that sly fox had us feeling some type of way. For a family animated film this movie had gay culture down to a science; a thin and boyishly handsome scamp spends his days with his large bear companion dabbling in cross dressing and social justice.  The effeminate Prince John and his lisping consort Sir Hiss are the template for the queer coded Disney villain trope (oh we get into it). And let’s face it - the busty Lady Cluck is a drag queen.  This one was a lot of fun to break down, but we came to a consensus; If having a crush on an anthropomorphic fox is wrong - we don’t wanna be right. 111. Robin Hood with special guest Matt Baume

She's got exactly four days to break up a wedding and steal the brides fella. We watched My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) with our friend Blake Knight and we suddenly have the urge to spontaneously break out into song.  Hot off the heals of a gothic retread of "Frankenstein from the maid's point of view" and that musical Woody Allen movie, America's sweetheart Julia Roberts needed a hit - and boy did this movie deliver.  On paper Julia is clearly the villain but she's just so stinkin' cute we give her a pass. Dermot Mulroney is adorable as the titular best friend and our girl Cammie Diaz just steals our hearts as the flighty fiancé we know we should root against, but we can't help but fall in love with.  Rupert Everett rounds out the cast as the GBF (long before the term was ever coined).  The first in a string of late 90's hits for Julia.  If you haven't seen it yet - check out this charming rom-com. I’m a little black woman, in a big silver box! We watched Jumpin’ Jack Flash (1986) with our friend Ben Cheaves and we still can’t understand a thing Mick Jagger is singing.  Whoopi Goldberg as Terry Doolittle is iconic.  Her apartment, her workspace and her wardrobe are all #GOALS.  Suffice it to say - we still want to be Terry when we grow up.  She hates her boss, she’s quick with a comeback and she can hold her own against KGB goons - she’s just like us!  Now we just need to perfect our Diana Ross lip sync for our lives. The Cold War era espionage and pre-AIM instant messaging may date the movie but we don’t care! After all the cloak and dagger shenanigans is Jonathan Pryce a bit of a boobie prize? It’s like Spice World for the Village People. We watched Can’t Stop the Music (1980) with our friend Jackson Cooper and we want to stay at the YMCA! Producer Allan Carr was at the top of his game after the success of Grease (1978) and the next story bursting forth was the pseudo-biography of disco’s greatest novelty act - the Village People.  This movie takes place in a theme park version of Manhattan where go-go boys roam the streets in a full Native American headdress, a man can roller skate down 5th avenue without being actively murdered and a leatherman can belt out “Danny Boy” standing on a piano and not be the weirdest thing in the room.  The filmmakers missed the mark when they predicted disco to be the sound the 80’s would be remembered for, but they wisely called multi-million dollar marketing campaigns backed by big-milk. Can’t Stop the Music tops our list of “best worst movies” for its utter watchability - not to mention he full frontal male nudity in a PG movie. Come for Steve Guttenberg looking like a whole a$s snack, stay for the Village People serving the whole meal!
