Ep. 26 - Grapefruit Crust

We got so entangled in discussing human psychology, body functions, and society this week that we barely talked about How to Keep a Mummy, Episode 2, “Toyed With and Chased Around, Being Small is Hard”. Rather than unwinding the anime’s reality, we basically unwound our own. Addison developed a new field of Freudian thought where your id is a jealous baby, and Laurel poorly attempted to explain why we have the impulse to crush cute things. This episode is all over the damn place, which might have to do with our multi-genre fare for the week: Magical Girl Ore, Episode 4, “Magical Girl - Versus Cyborg”. Inspired by this anime of many hats, we composed some self-insert Hades fanfic and created a new field of scholarship: Dinosaur Mythology. Given that this week’s anime, Captain Earth, Episode 9, “Magical Girl Akari-chan”, seems to have borrowed Pokémon character designs for its cast, we created our own line of Pokémon critters to match. However, our “fuzz friends” engage in debate rather than physical battle and sparked a discussion on the deeper ethics of Pokémon in general.
