Schemes: Expose the Enemy Scheme 2: Deception Job 1:6-7, Genesis 4:1-12, & John 8:42-47   How do we deal with Satan’s scheme of deception?   1)   Start with reality.  (Job 1:6-7) a.    Is the Devil real? Yes!  “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”  Ephesians 6:12 b.   Why is this important to know?  Because the most dangerous enemy is one that you don’t know is there.   2)   Ask yourself, “What does God want me to do?”  (Genesis 4:1-12) a.    Be aware. (vs. 6) b.   Make the right choice. (vs. 7a) c.    Listen, focus, and resist sin! (vs. 7b)   3)   Know who and whose you are. (John 8:42-47) So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.  Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy.  Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. James 4:7-10   Final Thought:  Don’t be deceived.  Listen to the Lord, focus on Christ, and be obedient to the Holy Spirit.

Schemes: Expose the Enemy Scheme 1: Question Genesis 3 “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:11 NIV Question: If the devil can get you to ask the wrong questions, he can ensnare you. Question #1: Question GOD’S WORD Genesis 3:1 Isaiah 55:3, “Come to me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life.” Proverbs 23:7, “For as he thinks within himself, so he is.” Question #2: Question GOD’S GOODNESS Genesis 3:5 Matthew 7:11, “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.” James 1:17, “Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father…” Romans 8:32, “Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?” Question #3: Question GOD’S TRUTH Genesis 3:6 Question #4: Question GOD’S PRESENCE Genesis 3:8 Isaiah 1:18, “‘Come now, let’s settle this,’ says the LORD. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.’”    Micah 6:8, “The Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”

Start Growing More Matthew 4:1-11   Because Jesus was tempted by Satan there are three things we can expect in life that will lead to growth. ·     Jesus was STRETCHED… We Will Be STRETCHED. Matthew 4:1-4 ·     Jesus was TESTED… We Will Be TESTED. Matthew 4:5-7 ·     Jesus was HUMBLE… We Need To Be HUMBLE. Matthew 4:8-11   Final Thought: Draw near to God when you are being stretched, tested, or humbled because maybe God doesn’t want you to be comfortable, MAYBE HE WANTS YOU TO GROW MORE!

Start Giving More Mark 12:41-44 Purpose: Three things according to Jesus that you and I need to understand about Giving 1.    Our Giving it’s Watched - Mark 12:41a 2.    Our Giving should Honor God - Mark 12:41b-43 3.    Jesus Commends Sacrificial Giving - Mark 12:44  Final Thought: “Believers should give generously because Christ generously gave His life for us and the Investment of the Kingdom is worth it.”

Start Serving More Mark 10:41-45 “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another." 1 Peter 4:10  “Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone…” Galatians 6:10 “The greatest among you must be a servant.” Matthew 23:11 What Does Serving Require? 1.    Know WHO you are… v43, “But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant…” 1 Peter 2:9, “But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”   2.    Know WHY you are…here v44, “…whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else.” Matthew 23:11-12, Jesus said, “The greatest among you must be a servant. But those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”   3.    Know WHAT you are…to do v45, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.”   “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24

Serve More (9/12/21)

Start Connecting More Matthew 26:36-38   Sometimes God “sits us down” in order to “lift us up”   Connection Matters: Ecclesiastes 4:9a, “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other…” Galatians 6:2, “Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.” James 5:16, “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”   Intentional Connection Live on Purpose Jesus purposefully invites Peter, James and John to be with Him.   Live with Purpose Jesus purposefully prepares Peter, James and John for their own dark nights. Live for a Purpose Jesus connected then, so that we might connect now.   “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message.” John 17:20   “LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered— how fleeting my life is.” Psalm 39:4

Connecting More (9/5/21)

Start Gathering More Revelation 21:1-7, Luke 4:16, Hebrews 10:23-25, Acts 2:1, Psalm 92:12-15   Faithful church attendance matters because: (Revelation 21:1-7) ·     It is increasingly counter-cultural. ·     The church gathered is the highest expression of community. ·     It holds a mirror up to the condition of your heart. ·     The resurrection matters.   You can increase your faithfulness in gathering by: 1.    Following the example of Christ. (Luke 4:16) Jesus faithfully attended the gathering of God’s people. 2.    Hiding scripture in your heart. (Hebrews 10:23-25) The biblical picture of the church gathered will pull you into gathering when hurt, fear, apathy, or fatigue push you out. 3.    Living out the biblical purpose of the church gathered. (Acts 2:1) Don’t miss out on the blessing of the work of the Spirit among His people. 4.    Celebrating the result of the church gathered. (Psalm 92:12-15) Individual spiritual growth, local church growth, and kingdom growth.   Final Thought:  What is your next step toward a faithfulness goal?

Together: Love One Another Bless the Children Mark 10:13-16   Two Ways Jesus Blessed the Children? 1.   He Touched Them 2.   He Blessed Them   What our responsibility is and Why? 1.    Meet the needs of Children around us   “According to the 2019 Census” 70,000 people live in Christian County 25,000 of those are Children (18 and below) 5,000 Children living below the poverty line Why should we meet the needs of Children around us that live in poverty … because when we do Jesus gives us credit like we did it for Him!! Final Thought – “Hey Dude, Jesus Blessed the Children and so should you.”

Today we welcome Pastor Montel Richardson to the pulpit. Pastor Montel is a personal friend of Kevin Lee.  Montel has served at Herndon Brounaugh Chapel Baptist Church, and associate at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  Since 2017, Rev. Richardson has served as pastor of the historic First Baptist Church of Campbellsville, Kentucky. His ministry there has birthed H.O.P.E. Project: a multi-service, non-profit helping people daily through empowerment, education and enrichment.  Pastor Montel is married to Etosha Cruite-Richardson; and is the proud Father of Montel II, Trinity, Ethan, and Gabrielle Elise.

Together What Does It Take? STAY  John 14:15-21   Together Key: Stay Proverbs 18:24b, “…a real friend sticks closer than a brother.”   What does it take to Stay? 1. Pick your PLACE See John 14:15-16. Matthew 18:20, “For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them.”   2. Show some GRACE 1 Peter 4:8, “Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.” See John 14:18, “I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.   3. Match the PACE See John 14:20. “When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.” Psalms 133, “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!”  Philippians 2:2, “Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.” See John 14:16, “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.” PARAKLETOS – “called alongside”. 1 John 2:1, “My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.”   The sermon will conclude with the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. If you belong to the Lord, you belong at His Supper. You are invited to examine yourself and participate.

The way Jesus served ·      Jesus knew His ROLE. verse 1-3           - Romans 12:6-8 ·      Jesus was FLEXIBLE. verse 3-5           - Galatians 5:13 ·      Jesus UNITED the team. verse 6-10a           - 1 Corinthians 12:25-27 ·      Jesus kept a POSITIVE ATTITUDE. verse 10b-11           - Colossians 3:23-24 ·      Jesus took RESPONSIBILITY for His ACTIONS. verse 12-16           - Romans 12:9-11 ·      Jesus was COMMITTED to The Body. verse 17           - Matthew 28:18-20   Believers should prioritize serving the Church. ·      Serving imitates Christ. Ephesians 5:1 ·      Serving uplifts God’s Kingdom. 1 Peter 4:10-11 ·      Serving blesses the believer. John 13:17   God is already moving…How can you join God in what he is already doing?

Together: Gratitude Jesus and the Ten Lepers Luke 17:11-19  1)   Being thankful is important. 2)   Being thankful is good for you.
