We want to welcome everyone this morning to Whipple Park! Thank you for joining us as we celebrate the Kingdom of God through singing, a message, and baptism. “Jesus, Son of David” Is a title you may not be familiar with but it is used many times in the New Testament. Today we will explore the meaning and hope behind this title.

(6) Jesus - Son of David

Shepherd, gifted musician, dynastic king, warrior, inspired poet, and man of God—King David is THE biblical example of a “renaissance man.” More important than David the remarkable man, however, is the biblical record of his life and what it can teach us about God and His Kingdom. Today we focus on David’s struggles leading his family. Relationships are hard but provide great joy and peace when we navigate them well. Loving and sacrificing for one another just as Jesus did for us.

Shepherd, gifted musician, dynastic king, warrior, inspired poet, and man of God—King David is THE biblical example of a “renaissance man.” Even though God gifted David with all these things he still needed others. We were created for relationship. We weren’t created to do life alone. We need each other. We need friends. True Friends. We are glad you have joined us today as we learn from David’s life valuable wisdom concerning friendship.

For all have sinned the Bible reveals to us. No one is good… not one. But do we really believe this? Do we live our lives as if this is true? Why not? What are we to do? Even King David, a man after God’s own heart, struggled with this reality. We are glad you have joined us today as we learn from David how to surrender our failures to God.

In this series on the life of David, we will see how this powerful, yet very human, Biblical figure points us toward Jesus Christ and His Everlasting Kingdom.

God holds the key to all your longings: provision, belonging, compassion, forgiveness. And He wants to provide them for you…you just need to ask. He strengthens and encourages you and your family through your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer is the power source from which that faith derives its life.
