Goodbye Friends

This week on the show we talked about where to find the deer when they are not where you expected them to be.  We talk about common mistakes hunters make when planning where to hunt. We specifically discuss hunting old sign that was made during a different time of year.  We also discussed how using summer sightings to determine fall/winter deer stands can often lead to frustration.  Another factor that can cause you to not see deer on a stand that is otherwise good is too much human pressure from other hunters or yourself. Ohio Huntsman is Powered by Simplecast

Where Are The Deer?

This week on the Ohio Huntsman Podcast we discuss the recent changes related to the artwork for the federal duck stamp.  The federal duck stamp has provided an enormous amount of conservation dollars for waterfowl habitat and the bulk of that money comes from waterfowl hunters.  In order to show appreciation for that contribution, there was a requirement added to the artwork competition.  The artwork for the stamp for 2021 had to include a hunting aspect in order to be chosen.  This requirement was removed after this year, so we discussed what we thought about the change and also what precedence a change like this could set for future decisions being made.  We also discussed if we felt like this was an attempt to further separate hunters from the millions of conservation dollars they raise. Ohio Huntsman is powered by Simple Cast.

All Good Things Come To An End

What To Do If You Get Lost In Ohio

Ohio B.S. Session

This week on the show we discuss a new program being offered by the ODNR to provide access to private lands that have been enrolled in the program.  The Ohio Landowner/Hunter Access Partnership program (OLHAP) is being funded through Federal monies awarded to the state through the 2018 Farm Bill.  Landowners are compensated based on average enrolled and also the type of land (agriculture vs forest).  Landowners are encouraged to contact the ODNR through their website for more information regarding the program.  We also give our personal options on the program and if we think it will ultimately be positive or negative for the state's outdoorsman.  Ohio Huntsman is Powered by Simplecast

Hunter Access Partnership Program

This week on the Ohio Huntsman Podcast we discuss a variety of Ohio outdoors news items as well as some discussion on the Arizona trail camera ban.  We discuss the recently announced Ohio lottery hunt opportunities and where to find more information on those.  We talk about the unknown bird disease that seems to be impacting songbirds in the area.  We also discuss how the ODNR is asking for the public's help in gathering information on turkey and ruffed grouse numbers throughout the state.  They are asking us all to report turkey and ruffed grouse sightings through the months of July and August.  And we even discuss a 28 year old bald eagle the was recently rehabilitated after sustaining some injuries and released back into the wild here in Ohio!  This is a wide-ranging episode so there is bound to be something in here that you'll find interesting! Ohio Huntsman is Powered by Simplecast
