Born and raised in Mokambo, Zambia, Mumba Yachi is a folk singer from Zambia. He grew up around several musical influences. His mother sang in church while his father was a fan of various African artists such as Franco Luambo, Makaidi and Fela Kuti and also listened to reggae legend Peter Tosh. Early 2010, Zambia started to witness the birth of new artists who came up with different music styles. Artists like Runell, JK, T sean, T bwoy ,Dambisa, DJ Cosmo, King Kayo, General Ozzy, OC, Ruff Kid, Afunika and Davaos introduced styles like ZedHipHop, Zed Dancehall, Dunkadunka, ZedMusic which are now popularly known as "Zed Beats" and are receiving good reception in Zambia. Also African music promoter DJ Erycom, contributed a lot to the rise of Zambian Music by playing it in clubs, distributing it online and promoting Zambian music outside Zambia. However, the not very clever usage of drum computers in most of these productions makes them sound too much the same, but the message in the songs makes them carry different flavors.
