This week we are looking at one final way God reveals himself to us. God is a Shepherd at heart, and he has given us the Holy Spirit to shepherd the church today by being with us, helping us, and guiding us. We can live in with peace in our troubled world because our Shepherd is with us.

Shepherd (John 10 and 14)

God&#039;s instinct is to save us! As our redeemer, God buys our freedom from sin and death with his life, and he also brings good out of the bad situations in our lives.

Redeemer (Hebrews 9:15 and John 8:31-36)

Jesus is our priest. He is just like us and shares in every bit of our humanity, he he is also nothing like us because he is perfect. In this way we have direct access to God through Jesus.

God reveals himself to us throughout Scripture as a Judge. The Bible shows us that God is a judge who understands us perfectly, is passionate about justice, and is full of compassion and mercy.

After 245 years without a king, we in the American church have forgotten how to relate to a God who is King. The Bible shows us a God who has all glory and authority in the universe, but who also laid it all down to come and save us.

King (1 Chronicles 29 and Philippians 2)

In this new series, we are exploring the different roles in which God reveals himself to us so we can know him. We begin with Creator. Our God is an all-powerful Creator who hand made each of us with a unique design and specific purpose.

Creator (Genesis 1 and Psalm 139)

Staying put and planting yourself in a community can be hard, but Jesus modeled staying put for us when he came to earth and lived and died as one of us. The prophet Jeremiah gives us good directions for how to stay put and love our communities like Jesus loved us.

Staying Put (John 12:24 and Jeremiah 29:4-9)

In life and ministry, what we have at our disposal is never enough to meet the needs around us. But when we bring what little we have to Jesus, he multiplies it and gives it back to us to share with the world.

Loaves and Fish (Matthew 14:13-21)

The local church is supposed to function as a family, but sometimes that family becomes dysfunctional. Paul shows us how to maintain healthy family relationships by pursuing peace, worshiping Jesus together, and giving thanks for each other.

The Family Room, Pt 1 (Colossians 3:15-17)

A major mark of Christian maturity is the ability to forgive others from the heart, as Christ has forgiven us. Forgiveness is never easy, but the cross reminds us that Jesus died for all of us while we were still sinners so we could sit together at his table.

At the Same Table (Colossians 3:12-14)

A big part of spiritual maturity is found by putting off the old, sinful self and clothing ourselves in Jesus. Colossians 3 teaches us what our new wardrobe looks like and how to put it on.

New Wardrobe (Colossians 3:1-14)

Even after we receive forgiveness for sin, we can be robbed of our freedom by the false expectations of others and of the law. A huge part of spiritual maturity is avoiding the traps of legalism.

Finding Freedom (Colossians 2:16-23)

As we continue our study on maturity, we need a blueprint to show us what a fully mature Christian looks like. Paul gives us those plans in this passage, as well as warning us about how deceptive ideas will stunt our growth.

Building Plans (Colossians 2:1-12)

Growing up in Jesus means sharing in his suffering and in his glory. This is the foundation on which you build a mature faith life. Sharing in his suffering and in his glory helps us to build our identity on Jesus in the best and worst times of life.

The Suffering and the Glory (Colossians 1:24-29)

Just as Jesus&#039; followers were not expecting him to be alive on Easter morning, many times we don&#039;t expect his resurrection life to be at work in us. Living in light of the resurrection means believing that Jesus brings us to life right now!
