Across Nova Scotia Municipalities are preparing for Municipal Elections. With this process there are lots of candidates, ideas and visions for the future of our communities. The Town of Yarmouth is no exception; many candidates are running with similar campaign slogans about “Opening Doors”. With so many people talking about the future, the Planning Advisory Committee would like to take the time to step back and talk about the next four years for the Town; what is working and where they would like to see changes. As part of this episode, the Town of Yarmouth will also provide all the information you need to get to the polls and vote on the big day such as who is running in our area, how to vote and when to vote.

The Future: Planning for Open Doors

The Planning Advisory Committee is going to take a summer break! In the mean time, here are some important updates from the planning department. The PAC will be back in September with more Planning on the Edge Episodes. The PAC is inviting listeners to submit questions and episode ideas. Welcome to the Town of Yarmouth Municipal Planning Strategy Review. We’re inviting residents to join us in developing a plan to shape the future of the Town of Yarmouth. We are on the edge of a new plan for growth, prosperity and a better place for people to live. As part of the Municipal Planning Strategy Review eight areas of interest were identified that require special planning policies to support their direct needs. Each area of interest has a statement of interest; new development in these areas may be streamlined through the site approval process.
