Ano passado não enxuguei, a Ana levou um escorregão e levou um tombo violento. Aí então é a vez de trocar os lençóis– os antigos estão com cheiro de mofo. Precisam ser lavados. Depois vou colocá-los para pegar um solzinho. E agora só falta tirar o pó dos móveis – coisa fácil de fazer agora que a gente tem o aspirador de pó. Eu estava dirigindo na minha quando de repente um jegue atravessou meu caminho na estrada. Eu tive de dar uma freada brusca, para não atropelar o animal, e quando dei fé já era tarde demais. O carro que vinha atrás se chocou na minha traseira. Respirei fundo. Estava fazendo uma viagem interestadual. Não queria que meu carro fosse guinchado nem que eu precisasse parar ali. Desci do carro na maior calma, para ver o estrago. O motorista do outro carro não tinha saído. Quando ele saiu, vi que era ela. Pensei: Só podia ser. Mulher no volante, perigo constante. Ela estava um pouco aturdidada batida, mas não parecia estar machucada. “Você tá bem?” perguntei. Ela fez que sim com a cabeça e então pegou o celular. Ainda se tremia um pouco. “Vou acionar a seguradora”, ela disse, e eu a interrompi. “O triângulo, moça. Tem que botar o triângulo primeiro.” Claro, ela respondeu e sinalizamos o lugar com o triângulo e com o pisca-alerta dos carros. Tirei umas fotos da colisão– a traseira do meu carro tinha amassado, mas não era nada que não pudesse ser consertado – e ela estava ligando para a seguradora dela, eu acho. Que bom que ela ia assumir a culpa. “Quê, eu? Eu não sou a culpada. Foi você quem freou com tudo. Não tive como parar.” “Mas tinha um jumento na minha frente!” “O único jumento que estou vendo aqui saiu daquele carro.” Eu estava de cabeça quente, mas me segurei. Eu estava com a razão e não tinha por que me preocupar. Eu disse: “Pois vamos fazer assim. Eu tiro minhas fotos, você tira as suas, e a gente vai registrar o B.O.Depois a gente acerta isso.” Aí ela colocou a mão na perna e disse: “acho que me machuquei.” Era claro que era fingimento. Na hora pensei isso, e foi o que ela me contou alguns anos mais tarde. Pouco depois daquele acidente, a gente acabou se encontrando e saindo, e agora estamos casados. Até quis morar sozinha, mas não deu certo. Além de tudo aqui estar pela hora da morte, ainda não conseguia lidar com tudo e ainda cuidar da minha alimentação. Na época que morava sozinha, eu ia pelo menos três vezes por semana no shopping, comer porcaria. Era hambúrguer e batata frita, sorvete e, depois que inventaram essa moda de rede de fast-food de sanduíche natural, só comia sanduíches naturais. De natural ele só tinha o nome. Mas pelo menos tinha um sabor muito agradável, era bastante salgado, mas pelo menos era temperado. Mas quando comecei a morar com minha amiga... as coisas mudaram, e não tenho certeza se para melhor. Ela bateu o olho naquele negócio de MasterChef e tratou de cozinhar para a gente. Primeiro, ela fez um bife à milanesa que faltou mugir quando dei uma garfada, de tão cruque estava. Aí outro dia ela cozinhou demais o arroz – que ela chamava de risoto de camarão. O negócio ficou empapado, com gosto de nada, completamente insípido. E ainda tinha camarão! E por último ela tentou fazer um mingau vegano, fosse lá o que isso fosse. Não é querendo ser chata, mas de mingau eu entendo – era só o que fazia logo quando saí de casa. Tem que mexer o mingau, senão ele empelota. O mingau vegano de minha amiga ficou parecendo areia com leite – mas ela disse que era assim mesmo que a textura devia ficar. E por incrível que parecesse, o sabor, que devia ser levemente adocicado – tinha até canela – era azedocomo limão e amargava no final. Bom... até pensei em dar uns toques a ela, mas sabe, antes dela vir eu comia porcaria e pagava por isso. Agora eu como porcaria de graça. Quem não tem cão, caça com gato. Naquela época, ele era um garanhão. Conquistava o coração de todas as mocinhas, recebia recadinhosna hora do intervalo... era o maioral. E no final do ensino médio, ele ficou caidinho por uma moça chamada Ariadne. Eles até ficaramdurante um tempo. E o namoro parecia que ia engatar, mas o Juvenal pisou na bola com a Ariadne e eles terminaram. Pouco tempo depois, ela se juntou com outro cara. Ô. O Juvenal ficou na fossa e até deu para beber. A gente dizia para ele desencanar, sair dessa – principalmente porque ele não queria mais participar das nossas peladas de fim de semana. A gente precisava de um jogador. Mas não teve jeito. O Juvenal ficou no fundo do poço por muito tempo. Mas o tempo passa e cura tudo. Quase dez anos depois, ele estava ficando com uma mulher chamada Cecília quando foi trabalhar numa nova empresa. Lá nessa empresa, o Juvenal reencontrou a Ariadne. Ela tinha acabado de se divorciar e estava de novo disponível. Numa conversa comigo, o Juvenal ainda disse que a Ariadne continuava ‘um pedaço de mau caminho’. Já vi no que ia dar. O Juvenal se engraçou com ela de novo, a conversa circulou de boca em boca, Cecília ficou sabendo e, quando Juvenal pediu a Cecília em namoro, levou um fora bem grande – e quando Ariadne soube que ele estava comprometido com outra mulher, Ariadne mandou Juvenal ir pastar, e agora Juvenal voltou a beber. Passei quase um ano à míngua depois que perdi o emprego. Mandava currículo para várias empresas, mas nenhuma me chamava. Não foi fácil. Mas ao cabo de um ano, fui convidado para uma entrevista numa empresa da área de transportes, que era o ramono qual eu tinha experiência. Fiquei muito feliz. Convidei uns amigos e a gente foi encher a cara no domingo. Minha esposa me perguntou qual era o motivo da alegria. Ih. Se eu dissesse que estava comemorando uma entrevista, a coisa pegava fogo. Ela já estava achando que eu era alcoólatra. Mas se eu contasse uma mentirinha boba, ainda assim estaria mentindo. Bom, eu já manjava daquela área profissional, então a vaga estava no papo. Eu não estava mentindo. Estava “antecipando” a verdade. Disse a ela que tinha conseguido um emprego. “Sério? Que maravilha, meu amor!” Fiquei com um peso na consciência, mas logo a sensação passou. Peguei pesado na bebida e no dia seguinte – o dia da entrevista – fiquei com uma ressaca infeliz. Como a entrevista era de tarde, quis dormir de manhã, mas fiquei com aquela frase na cabeça: mentira tem perna curta. E tem mesmo: a empresa telefonou cedinho desmarcando a entrevista daquele dia, porque o entrevistador estava doente. “Será que eu podia ir outro dia?” “Claro.” Mas teve um problema. Minha esposa ouviu tudo. Então ela me encostou na parede e eu abri o jogo. Então ela disse: “eu já sabia. Algo não me cheirava bem. Quando a gente se casou, ela era muito mais comedida. Ela gostava de pintar, de cozinhar e de fazer crochê. Crochê, meu deus! Coisa de vovozinha. Mas dentro daquela senhorinha pacata morava – e ainda mora – uma leoa. Por que digo isso? Pois bem, te conto é agora. Ontem completei vinte e dois anos de casa numa empresa de logística. Pode parecer muito, mas vinte e dois anos passam num pulo. Hoje você se deita com vinte anos de idade e amanhã já se acorda com sessenta e se pergunta: o que aconteceu? Então, como disse, gosto da minha empresa – a comida é boa, o trabalho é pouco e a gente é tanto faz, tanto fez. Tem um ou outro que eu nãoconsigo engolir, mas é só baixar a cabeça e seguir em frente. Mas nem sempre foi assim. Quando comecei a trabalhar, vi uma possibilidade boa de subir na vida. Fazia uns cinco anos que eu trabalhava lá quando recebi uma proposta da gerência – quer investir na empresa? Eu era jovem, a empresa também, e tanto ela como eu estávamos mal das pernas. Mas a empresa queria correr riscos e precisava de capital. Se desse certo, maravilha, todo mundo ganhava, mas se não desse certo, todo mundo ia entrar pelo cano. Conversei com a minha esposa na época, em busca de algum direcionamento. Eu devia ter ficado calado – a mulher era porra-louca. Ela queria que eu pegasse o dinheiro da minha poupança, o dinheiro dela e ainda pegasse a reserva que tínhamos para pagar a casa... queria que eu pegasse toda essa dinheiramae investisse tudo na empresa. Ela disse que era uma manobra arriscada, mas mais arrojada e ousada. Para mim, isso era agir de maneira irrefletida e infantil. No fim das contas, ganhei eu a briga e não investimos. Então, com um golpe de sorte e muita ousadia, a empresa cresceu, cresceu e cresceu, bomboumesmo, e quem investiu naquela época, ficou montado na grana. E quem amarelou e não investiu... ficou a ver navios. Agora minha esposa veio com outra história. Ela ouviu falar de um negócio de Bitcoin e disse que essa é a bola da vez. Não quero nada com isso. A Cláudia nasceu com a bunda virada para a lua – a gente recebeu doação de meio mundo de gente, que ficou com pena da gente porque eu perdi o emprego na pandemia e minha esposa precisou largar o trampo dela. Mas com a ajuda dos outros a gente conseguiu se manter de pé. Para mim, toda ajuda é bem-vinda, mas às vezes aceitar ajuda sem ter outra opção é cair numa arapuca. Dona Conceição, minha sogra, acha que a gente não consegue dar conta do recado. Ela diz que a gente é pai de primeira viagem, então com certeza contar com uma pessoa experiente já é meio caminho andado. Minha mãe concorda que seja necessária a orientação de uma pessoa experiente, mas se a experiência se resumir a parir um menino atrás do outro e criar os filhos ao deus-dará, é melhor pensar duas vezes. Mas isso são palavras da minha mãe, não minhas. Quando minha esposa vai amamentar a Cláudia, minha mãe diz que ela não leva muito jeito para segurar a menina. Já minha sogra diz que minha esposa está fazendo tudo certo. Daí, minha mãe comprou uma mamadeira (que eu guardei) e fica sempre em cima para ver se a Flávia faz a Claudinha arrotar. Na hora de colocar a bebê no carrinho é uma briga. A mãe da Flávia diz que não se faz isso com criança de colo, que a gente que tem braço forte que carregue a filha. E para botar para nanar, as duas ficam sempre querendo ver quem é mais eficiente. Eu acho legal e bem-vinda toda essa preocupação. Deixar. Our Language As It Is

Won't you be my neighbor? https://social.portuguesewitheli.com/meetngreet Meetings don't always take time because they're ineffective meetings. Meetings are what they are - the person organizing them is effective... or not! Today, we're going to look at two people who conduct meetings...and how to describe those people. And here's the monologue for your benefit: Na primeira empresa onde trabalhei, o chefe tinha uma tal de uma reunião de equipe antes da gente pegar no batente. A gente era trabalhador braçal e só precisava cumprir ordens, erguer peso, organizar o estoque e pronto. Mas como o chefe andava às voltas com esse negócio de autoajuda, enfiou na cabeça que era para fazer uma palestra motivacional. Se a reunião tinha pauta? Ele não organizava pauta nem que a vaca tossisse. Ele só chegava e mandava ver. Falava pelos cotovelos e dava voltas e mais voltas. E ficava uma arara quando alguém o interrompia ou – Deus me livre! – dizia que já sabia do que ele estava falando. Se alguém fizesse pouco do discurso dele, o chefe levava logo para o lado pessoal e, acabada a reunião, ficava no pé do funcionário até ele pedir arrego. Hoje já não trabalho mais naquela empresinha enfadonha– ufa! Agora nas reuniões de professores, nossa coordenadora é o diabo de saia. Primeiro, toda reunião que ela preside tem uma pauta inequívoca: primeiro isso, depois aquilo. O tempo reservado para cada item da pauta é controlado com mão de ferro. Uma vez, uma professora completamente sem noção quis continuar falando depois que seu tempo tinha acabado. A coordenadora só faltou destroçar a coitada. Deu uma bronca nela e disse que, se quisesse falar livremente, que fosse protestar na praça pública, porque ali era uma escola e na escola as pessoas trabalhavam. A coitada da professora se encolheu toda e nunca mais deu um pio. Antes que todo mundo chegasse, me enfiei na sala em que ela tinha aula e dei uma espiada na lista de chamada. Lá tinha o nome de vinte e tantas pessoas. Tirei uma foto e escapuli da sala antes que alguém me pegasse no flagra. Depois, passei todos os nomes um a um. Excluí os nomes masculinos – porque estava na cara que ela não era um homem – e depois joguei o nome das mulheres no buscador do Face. Foi mamão com açúcar. Já no terceiro nome vi o perfil dela. Janaína... o nome não batia com a cara dela, mas as pessoas das redes sociais sempre são diferentes do que vemos no mundo real. Depois fui vendo o que ela andava compartilhando. Ela postavabastante. Aqui, ela estava tomando umas com as amigas. Aqui, ela mostrava a carteira de motorista. Uma pessoa deixe seus dados pessoais na internet dando sopa assim, só pode ser uma pessoa que não bate bem da bola. E agora que encontrei o perfil... me ocorreu uma coisa... será que... vamos ver.
