With the pandemic meaning our offices were closed and mental health wellbeing declining across every sector, age group, and demographic across Scotland, our employee wellbeing team took extra steps to ensure staff at RoS had a safe space to look after their mental health at work. This Mental Health Awareness Week our host Roman Smith sits down with Carol Duffin, Colleague Experience Manager and Isla Cameron, Corporate Communications Assistant to talk all things mental health awareness, employee wellbeing, and how nature plays a big part in keeping us all feeling good when times are hard. From the app on your smartphone to the GPS in your car and the well-thumbed, dog-eared road atlas on your bookshelf, maps are a critical part of life. For hundreds of years, the organisation that’s been at the heart of mapping in Great Britain is Ordnance Survey. Registers of Scotland is responsible for maintaining the legal registers relating to land and property in Scotland, but to do this effectively we work with a number of other organisations. OS is one of the most critical of these, providing the base map upon which we register property titles. 6: Digital products with Companies House

In our fifth podcast we hear from Registers of Scotland’s Clare Barnett, User Experience Lead, Hilary Brownlie, Head of Service Design and Innovation and the Service Design Lead at the [Scottish Government](https://www.gov.scot/), Anna Henderson on how to design services for the public sector. Did you know that there’s evidence of service design in our Land Registers as far back as 1807? Thomas Thomson wanted to improve what was at that time a rather busy and hard to decipher Register; pages and pages of tightly covered entries in small cramped writing with no space between them. Enter Thomas who introduced limited number of words per page, added margins and search aids. This meant searching became more efficient and it reduced time and cost for Registers of Scotland. So basically he was improving the search for data, and making it easier to digest by being a content producer, creating style guideline version 1 for Registers of Scotland and creating a single source of truth.
