SCAC Talks - Episode Sixteen - February 26, 2019

In front of this year's SCAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament, Associate Commissioner Russell Kramer and Commissioner Hanberry take a stroll down memory lane with former DePauw University student-athlete Austin Brown, who hit what most would consider the most famous shot in the 16-year history of the tournament. The then junior nailed a 61-foot shot off glass at the buzzer to lift the Tigers to a 64-61 victory over Centre College in the 2006 championship game. In the days that ensued, video of the shot is selected as ESPN's "Play of the Day”, and the cable television sports network airs a clip of the fantastic finish -- complete with commentary by WGRE's Wes Anderson and Steve Powell -- on SportsCenter. Kramer and Hanberry reminisce with Brown about the shot and his time at DePauw, and also discuss his current role as the Co-Head of Basketball Talent at Creative Artists Agency in Chicago.

On this episode, Associate Commissioner Russell Kramer and Commissioner Hanberry take to the skies and bring you the first-ever Division III podcast from 37,000 feet, or at the least the first of which we are aware. En route back to conference headquarters in Atlanta, Ga., the sleep-deprived duo recap the just completed SCAC Swimming and Diving Championships, a strange occurrence on their final night at the San Antonio Airbnb, and provide a final update on the Commissioner's Valentine's Day saga.

Among the topics covered is a recap of the NCAA Convention, a quick review of the group's Airbnb choice as well as an airing of a few grievances which includes a big Valentine's Day failure by the Commissioner.

Kramer caught up with Gumbs after the Flames' 62-41 victory over Kennesaw State. This week's episode also includes a segment where Kramer and Hanberry discuss various professional New Year's resolutions as well as the upcoming NCAA Convention in Orlando, Florida.

Lundquist, a graduate of current SCAC member Texas Lutheran University (class of 1962), talks about his time at TLU and shares many stories about his time behind the microphone.
