Oh boy, not too awful much to say here. A short special report recording on the way to and from an early (like silly early) excursion to The Vinyl Underground at 7th Heaven for drop 2 of Record Store Day 2021. So, long story short, Record Store Day came about in 2007 when a group of independent record stores got together to promote the sale of vinyl. By then, streaming had overcome CDs for the preferred music format and records were a thing of the past. Personally, I'd converted over to CDs way back when and slowly moved over to mp3s and later streaming for everything also. Then, about 2.5 years ago, my son and I were cleaning up downstairs and he came across my original copy of Dead Kennedys - Frankenchrist. After making sure his fragile young eyes didn't take in the included poster (yep, I have the entire original thing with the order form inside for merch and music from Tentacle Records as well), I found my Sony turntable nearby and we hooked it up. I had like 4 records or so at that point. Today? 298. It's an illness. Anyways, I talk a little bit about some things I'm interested in before going in and then I end up kinda going against my original thoughts and going all in. Now, I am the proud owner of the G Collection (Box set of all studio albums from Gorillaz) and a pretty great Czarface album as well. While I skipped out on the Dee Gees and a couple others I discuss, I'm happy to be one of the 980 folks who scored the entire Gorillaz studio catalog in one buy. Episode 099 - Lend a Flipping Hand Already!

I mean, is it though? We're gonna find out within the next month or so. After the break, I discuss a few different things including us recently having watched the second Kingsman film. I am a little more "meh" on this one personally. The first one was completely over the top and ridiculous. This one makes that look totally plausible. Too much guys. Seriously. Started up The IT Crowd with my wife. We'd watched all the way through Toast of London twice and she loves Matt Berry as do I. I figured she's got to see him in all his glory in this earlier show. It's been fun revisiting these characters and the insanity for sure. Heck, I even have one of Matt Berry's records. Good stuff actually. Blasted through that second season of Love Death + Robots also (trailer is NSFW). Go, now, and watch...with an open mind. It's amazing. Finished the audiobook for the first High Republic Star Wars book. Pretty great actually. I anxiously await the second one. Stephen King's Later is awaiting my reading as well. I know I will love it. Comics are just more of the same. The new trailer for Sweet Tooth is exciting though. I can't wait to watch this. It's gonna be great. For music, my recent acquisition of Ravel's Bolero is beautiful sounding indeed. Recent Spins and more are right here. Episode 098 - Is the Truth Out There?

Wow! So, in supporting a black-owned business online, yours truly learned a little about how intolerant and uptight we are in the Midwest about race. Granted, I already knew this somewhat, but not to the extent I witnessed. After the break, I come in hard about some new vinyl I've acquired starting with the latest Greta Van Fleet album The Battle at Garden's Gate that I picked up as my first of their records. I like it...a lot. I have heard them prior to now and I've even seen them perform live on SNL, but I wasn't too awful into it. I will say, though, I think they're a pretty solid group instrumentally and his voice is even growing on me some. This is my fave tune and the album opener. It's interesting watching "kids" rock in a 60s-70s style in 2021. I guess the real point is that I just need to "STFU Boomer" and enjoy some good modern rock. There's pretty much zero denying the fact that these fellas are super talented. In addition, I picked up a couple of classics. First up, Rage Against the Machine's self-titled debut. Personally, I think this to be one of the more important records from the whole time I was in college (yes, I'm dating myself there). There's so much about this record's sound and feel that still applies right now. Maybe even moreso. How big is/was it? Just give this Wikipedia entry a read. Finally, I picked up the second major release from Jane's Addiction called Ritual de lo Habitual. I don't go for imports too often for a number of reasons. They tend to be poorly pressed, they're more expensive for no reason, and I guess I just like buying originals. I made an exception here as I have had a tough time finding it. I'm glad I did. It's outstanding just as I recall it. Watched the first Kingsman film the other night with my wife. We loved it. I snagged a double boxset of the two films on 4K Blu-Ray for...get this...$5. So happy at this. The digital codes even still work. Anyway, we're on board with Eggsy and the gang big time and looking forward to the second film and eventually the third (which is a prequel I hear). Good silly action seemingly created for me. Not a surprise as I'm a Mark Millar fan big time and I may have to check out his original comic version. Of course, the wife was entirely on board when she saw Colin Firth on the cover. I've watched a few other new things I talk about. On the reading front, I'm super excited about my new Stephen King book from the "Hard Case Crime" publisher. I like these pulp fiction novels he's written. I read Joyland and The Colorado Kid and now it's time for Later. Wait, what? That's the title. Anyway, he does a great job on these of writing some crime fiction with just a dash of Stephen King weirdness thrown in. Can't get enough. Episode 097 - You Don't Have to be Black to Support Black People

Yeah, seriously people. Aisles at stores are made for two carts side by side going in different directions. Not morons taking up the whole aisle. Not grocery pickers working at the store. Move!!! I've been watching the second season of Shudder's Creepshow series and I have to say, it's great. If you don't know much about Creepshow's origin, it's derived from comics that Stephen King and George Romero loved as kids called EC Comics. Pretty great stuff. Still watching and loving Kim's Convenience as well. Give it a shot. Went through watching some other trailers for series the other night. Did watch an episode of Disjointed and one of Real Rob also. Might have to give #blackAF a look here soon. I think I'm gonna make me some of these record dividers. I just can't see ponying up for these. No way. Gotta get that stuff in order as it will soon be Record Store Day! No new records spinning here lately, but scoping out some Queensryche and Marillion records in the new future. I can't wait for the Sweet Tooth adaptation on Netflix. As you all know...I love that comic. That Star Wars Skywalker - A Family at War is pretty damned solid. Can't wait to dig in even more on it. Episode 096 - GTFO of the Way

Enough with this hating of/rage towards those that are different in skin tone/sexuality/religion/anything at all than you. I'm telling ya. Amazing stuff with lots of extras including the new mixes from the original master tapes, the original demos for the record, photos, a poster, and on and on. Great stuff. Episode 095 - We ARE All the Same

I know, another special report. I think it's totally fitting in this situation though. In reality, nobody won on this deal. Chauvin, though a bad guy, has kids and a family and now he'll be away from them for the foreseeable future. That stinks. George Floyd's gone forever though. I'm just glad the right decision was made here. I'm into a lot of stuff really, now that I take a good look at it. On the music front...I came dangerously close to buying the BabyMetal album. Yeah, I know. I did pick up a few gems for sure though. You can check out what's been spinning right here. Stuff I'm watching is as diverse and crazy as ever. We really love the film Nobody (trailer is NSFW). The new Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings looks really solid later this year. The HBOMax docuseries Q: Into the Storm is something else. It's weird watching millions be duped by loons. It happened though. Reading got pretty interesting this week. Looking forward to the rest of the book Star Wars: The High Republic - Light of the Jedi personally. It took a real turn in my listen this week and I kinda straight up love it now. Report Especial 016 - Tequila Taste Test Tres

This one starts out with me talking about an awkward convo with my teenage daughter. Having a daughter has opened my eyes, personally, when it comes to sexism and chauvinist behavior. No more from this end. I'm not talking about just stopping either. I stopped it years ago. I'm talking about calling folks out of it from now on. After the break, I talk some about the current stuff I'm into. The documentary on HBO Max called Tina is pretty incredible. It actually helped influence what's bugging me this week. It's a well-made piece of documentary filmmaking and I highly suggest you watch this woman's battle with those around her that didn't believe in her... all the way up until that Private Dancer album dropped in the early 80s. It's a must-see in my opinion. Godzilla Vs. Kong...well it's just that. Nothing more and nothing less. I love those two kaiju in particular, but don't go in expecting fine acting and a deep and believable plotline. Kath and Kim still rule our world as far as tv shows. I've also started the Q-Anon documentary on HBO Max and watched the White Boy doc on Netflix. Yeah, I like docs. Definitely enjoying the latest from Sturgill Simpson. This guy, I'm telling ya. Picked up What's Going On by Marvin Gaye on vinyl too finally. What a classic. The novel American Dirt is pretty solid. I'm getting into it and I expect it's gonna be pretty amazing throughout. The latest issues of CrossOver and The High Republic are set to be read by me this week as well. How about them R'alls?!?!?!? Wow! 25 runs scored in their first two games. Can't wait to see what the boys in blue pull off this season. Much better than people think I believe. I mean, what else can you say? It's insane the crap I've heard in suspicion of the COVID vaccine. Interesting to me that people who read and listen to bullshit made up stories by morons via their own media consumption devices made by science...well, they refuse to believe in science. How crazy is that? Well, it's Jewish Space Laser crazy is the answer. My wife and I got our first shots of the Pfizer vaccine this afternoon and it's all good to go. Quick and relatively painless. #GETVACCINATED So excited for baseball season. I know Keith Beard and I have discussed a lot with it and I'm loving MLB.TV this year. Can't wait until tomorrow. Took the family out to dinner and to see "Nobody" at the theatre last Friday. It was fun as anything. We all loved it. Big dumb action fun by a few of the people who brought us John Wick.
