This week's show is dedicated to the families of the victims of the Oxford High School Shooting that took place on Nov 30th. Hanna St. Julianne, Justin Shilling, Tate Myre, & Madisyn Baldwin were gunned down at the hands of deranged teenager Ethan Crumbley, and several others were wounded and countless others traumitized by what took place that fateful day. Our throughts and prayers are with the familes of the victims and the students of ths school as they try to sort out the details of what happened and try to put the pieces of their lives and their school back together. We decided to dedicate this week's entire show to discuss not just what happened that fateful day on November 30th, but to talk about the events leading up to that day and where do we go from here? We believe that we need to be proactive instead of reactive in situations like this, and we can defintiely learn from the mistakes and missteps that were made as we endeavor to move forward and to try to find ways to heal and prevent this type of tragic event from happening again.  PLUS, we have another dynamic Thought of the Week that I believe is directly in line with the topic for this week's show. We put our minister's hat on this week and share an excerpt of a powerful message that we delivered entitled, "He's Still The One," In a world where it seems we have more questions than answers, we must remember that Jesus Christ is still the one. In this week's Thanksigiving Edition of the podcast we are talking with a good friend and special guest Journalist, Speaker, Advocate & Minister Jakkar Aimery. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in journalism and sociology from Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. During his time at MSU, Jakkar worked as an undergraduate researcher where he explored and identified existing barriers to student success and establish policies, procedures, and practices to mitigate the existing opportunity gaps between white and minoritized student populations. MSU vs OSU takes place in just a few hours in Ohio, and the stakes couldn't be higher, and we have a special show to kick off all of the festivities. Our special guest on this week's edition of the podcast is MSU Star Running Back Elijah Collins. Elijah is a two-year letterwinner has seen action in 23 career games, including 12 starts, and has rushed for 1,086 yards on 265 carries in his career, becoming 46th Spartan player with 1,000 career rushing yards. He is a personable young man with a good head on his shoulders, and continues to credit his team and his coaches for much of his success as a Michigan State University Football Player. Elijah speaks very highly of his Coach Mel Tucker, who he big reason why the Spartan Football team has a winning record this season. In this week's "Living While Black" edition, we discuss two very important trials that are taking place right now; the Ahmaud Arbery trilal and the Kyle Rittenhouse trial, and how both of these cases are ultimately going to impact the Black Community. Ahmaud Arbery was the young black jogger who was cut down by three white men who claimed they were taking the law in their own hands. And, Kyle Rittenhouse is a young 18yr old white teenager who is charged with killing two people and wounding another during a Kenosha, Wisconsin demonstration taking place in the aftermath of the death of Jacob Blake. Jacob Blake is the young black man who was shot in the back seven times by a white police officer in front of his three sons. We alsof plan to talk about former Chicago Bulls Forward Scottie Pippen's new book "Unguarded" and his beef with Michael Jordan.  PLUS, we've got a dynamic Thought of the Week just for you entitled "On the Bright Side." This is a powerful message expecially for those who seem to be focused on the negative things that might be happening to them. "Leading With Excellence" feat. Superintendent & Educator De'Angelo Alexander

This week we plan to tackle what we believe to be very important issues that we also believe are directly related. The question of this week's show is one i'm sure you've heard before. "Are we beating a dead horse?" We not only discuss the identity or the subject matter of this proverbial dead horse, but also the issues that we believe to be directly related. Firstly, the atrocities taking place at the Mexican border related to the Haitian refugees coming to this country escaping the terror and turmoil happening in their own country. And, the inept and vicious response that they recieved from our goverment; border patrol agents photographed on horseback whipping the Haitian immigrants as if they were chattel slaves. Deplorable!  We also discuss another emerging problem within our community of missing persons and the disparity that exists between the media attention that White missing person's recieve versus their Black counterparts. All of this seemed to have sprung out of the high profile missing person case of the Gabby Petito; young white woman traveling with her fiancee that mysterially dissappeared, but later was found dead. Her financee is still at large. This case recieved quite a bit of media attention which some in the Black Community believe lead to the quick discovery of her remains. Whlle, Black graduate Jelani Day and others like him, go mssing for months and some for even longer than that with barely any media coverage at all. We discuss this as well as the underlying thread that seems to join this two very different issues together.  PLUS, we have a dynamic Thought of the Week in store for you. We share a very powerful poem from one of Black History's greatest Poet Laureate Langston Hughes entitled, "Let America Be America Again!" A poem that we believe fits very appropriately with the theme of this week's show. We also talk a little Spartan Football as well,

Envy by JGivens and through competing at “The Rap Showcase” held at Legacy Conference in Chicago, IL.  Her music began to receive attention from platforms such as Trackstarz, Rapzilla, Forth District, and more. In 2017 she created a stage for women through Legacy Fest titled She's Next, as a way to shed light on the under-representation of women in the Christian Hip Hop Community, and more recently won the Jackson Pollock challenge held by Andy Mineo! This was such an empowering and informative event, and in part two we shift our discussion toward events that are transpiring in the State of Florida with Gov. Ron Desantis and the School Districts there, as well what are some of the specific CDC Guidelines that have been laid for our students return to in-person learning. If you enjoyed Pt.1 then you are definitely going to enjoy Pt. 2. PLUS, we will be sharing with you another show milestone that we are very proud of an excited about. Also, as we prepare for our students first day back in the classrooms across the country, we thought it would be fitting to share a speech we gave at our own graduation from Michigan State University back in December of 1998. The speech is enttied, "Write The Vision" This is a poweful message that i'm sure will inspire and motivate our young people to do the same. This week's show is definitely appointment listening. Back To School Community Forum Recap Pt. 2

This week we share Pt.1 of our recap of our impactful and insightful Back-To-School Virtual Community Forum, where we hosted a panel of educators and administrators discussing students in the Detroit Metropolitan Area's return to in-person learning. During this LIVE event that was streamed over our Thinking Out Loud Radio & TV Show Facebook Fan Page (http://www.facebook.com/thinkinguutloudhq), educators shared the preparations and plans that are being made for our students to return to a safe, and healthy educational environment. Especially, in the midst of the rise of the COVID-19 Delta Variant, we wanted to provide parents with an opportunity to hear directly from the educators who are on the front line everyday making sure that our students are protected and safe from this dangerous and deadly virus. This was a worthwhile event, and there was definitely a tremendous amount of valuable information diseminated. PLUS, we also shared some of the sights and sounds of the collective voices of speakers and activists who spoke at the 58th Anniversary of the March on Washington, where the focus of this year's march was for voting rights. Speakers from both generations articulated the fierce urgency of now, and the importance of putting pressure on the powers that be, that we are going to keep marching, and keep fighting until victory is won.  We hope you enjoy this week's show. Back To School Community Forum Recap Pt. 1

We are back after taking a few weeks off  because of work obligations, as well as getting some rest and recuperation, which is always in order. But, we are back with another brand new episode and with a lot to talk about. We plan to talk about the newly FDA Approved Pfizer Vaccine and is that enougth for more people to now get vaccinated? In addition, students across the country are now returing to in-person learning, and it looks like the State of Florida is a house divided. Gov. Ron Desantis has signed an executive order not requireing or manddating mask, but public schools in the state are requiring students to wear masks. Gov. Desantis is threatening to cut off the funding of these schools, becasue they are in violation of his exeutive order and the Parents Bill of Rights. Do you agree or disagree? And, finally, we ae talking Sportmanship & Competition, particularity amongst our Black Athletes. There are several stories surrounding our Black Athletes we plan to address in this week's edition of the Thinking Out Loud Radio Show.  PLUS, we got a dynamic Thought of the Week entitled, "God's Masterpeiece" that is sure to bless you, that we wiill be sharing at the end of this week's show.
