August 1969, a 20 year old woman Lucille Butterworth disappears from a bus stop in Hobart. Police believe she is a runaway who will return and fail to respond adequately for weeks. Eventually, a suspect is identified but he is not charged and no trace of Lucille is ever found. July 2015. Amid news of a breakthrough in the case, an excavation begins on a site where Lucille's remains are alleged to have been dumped. Questions are asked when it's discovered that police have known of the location since 1976. The investigation is becoming a damning indictment of police ineptitude. 4. The Dig

Tasmania's Director of Public Prosecutions must decide whether to put Geoff Hunt before the Supreme Court for Lucille's murder. A coronial inquiry has blown Hunt's anonymity in a quiet country village amid fears he is a risk to other women. We go in search of the suspect. Lucille’s brother Jimmy learns he has terminal cancer and travels to confront his sister’s alleged killer Geoffrey Charles Hunt once and for all. Having learned that Tasmania Police have shelved Lucille’s case, Adam returns to Tasmania to explore new leads, including an alternative murder scene that has never been searched.
