What cryptocurrency is the best store of value? Murad is 50/50 holding Bitcoin and Decred for the long-term. The Anxiety Reduction Theory of Money: The coins that are going to win are the ones which reduce your anxiety and stress the most and allow you to sleep best. Decred: “I consider Decred to be the 2nd best store of value candidate.” “Decred is the real silver to Bitcoin’s gold, not Litecoin. “Decred is very intelligently differentiating itself from Bitcoin. The 3 or 4 ways it differentiates itself, are the things that Bitcoin will never add, which are the treasury, the governance, and the hybrid proof of work/proof of stake.” Litecoin: “Litecoin is massively overhyped and overvalued. It offers no differentiation to Bitcoin at all that is important. There is nothing that Litecoin does that Bitcoin doesn’t do. It doesn’t differentiate itself in any way.” Monero/Zcash: “If you list the top 20 things that are most important for a store of value, then yes, Monero and Zcash are superior to Bitcoin is one of those 20, which is fungibility/privacy, but Bitcoin is so much further ahead in the remaining 19 out of 20 things… Liquidity, development pool, infrastructure, financialization, security, tooling, etc. etc.” Why is Monero the third best store of value? From Murad: Privacy by default. Privacy that is being used. It’s the longest running privacy coin. They have a very well-respected developer team. It has a very passionate, religious, zealous community. “Bitcoin + privacy is not enough to compete.” Tezos: “Tezos has good pumpamentals. I think it will perform quite well in the next cycle becaus frankly speaking, it’s in a lot of crypto investors’ portfolios, and at the risk of sounding crude, they will essentially shill it to the all of the incoming quasi big, smart money coming into the space in the next few years. It will probably perform well but I’m not sure it’s the best way to build a foundation for a good store of value.” Ethereum: If you look at Ethereum vs Bitcoin side by side, Bitcoin gives you peace of mind much more so than Ethereum (as a store of value). They’re building an entirely new chain which is 3 times out. For Ethereum to ‘win’, it needs to get a store of value monetary premium, and fundamentally from a monetary policy perspective, it doesn’t lend itself to assurances as much as Bitcoin.
