Annie's War Story

We begin with my personal war story. The story that began years ago with parents who had undiagnosed mental health problems and attempted to make the best of their lives, as well as their children's lives. Although, they had little to model their lives after, it became a constant cycle abuse, chaos, disconnection, and ultimately, the downfall of a family unit. This is a very difficult story to share, but important nonetheless because it allows the listener to hear how even through the most traumatic of times, hope and a willingness to change is always possible.

All of us have a story to share. A story or a grouping of stories we think defines us. I call these our War Stories, a series of events we didn’t ask for. This shared “story” is what binds us together as human beings, but also gives us the opportunity to move past the story in order to move on with our lives. We have the ability to either remain where we are or make the oftentimes difficult and uncomfortable decision to move forward. What is your war story?
