Dreia has the worst story this week and will be telling us the tale of John Edward Jones who went to explore the Nutty Putty Cave in Utah and unfortunately did not make it out. Maggie’s up next with the story of Khutulun – a Mongolian woman who refused to marry unless her betrothed could beat her in a wrestling match. We love Khutulun.

Hello and welcome to another episode of We Are the Worst – the podcast where we aren’t entirely sure what cottagecore is, but we might also be living it? Don’t worry, while Maggie’s kitchen looks like a crime scene, Dreia is going to talk about an actual crime scene that happened in Florida a few years back. That’s right folks, she’s going for the bath salts murders – otherwise known as the story of Austin Harrouff, so get ready to be sad. After that, Maggie gets her crime scene kitchen in order just in time to bring up the mood with the story of Dr. Mary Edwards Walker – the badass Civil War surgeon who refused to conform to society’s expectations, was a staunch feminist, and was the only female recipient of the Medal of Honor. Maggie’s story starts off pretty sad but has a happy ending – she’s going to tell you about Madame C.J. Walker and how she was born into poverty but became the first black female millionaire in US history. We’re pretty into her.

This week we’re talking boob tattoos, matching kinks, and helpful sea turtles. Also, we’re going to tell you some stories – Maggie is covering the serial killer Jerry Brudos and Dreia will tell us the creepy story of the Seguin Lighthouse and how you really should learn more than one song on the piano if you’re going to be cooped up in a lighthouse with your husband for years.

A Human Backpack

So, we’ve got a depressing story and a fun story for you again this week. Are you ready? Dreia is responsible this week for completely ruining the mood with her story of William Suff. Suff murdered his infant child and was sent to prison for 70 years but only served 10 years of that sentence. His early release provided him with the opportunity to murder so many sex workers throughout the course of the 80s. To this day, he is in prison, on death row, and is a great cook. Maggie’s story is just a bunch of weirdness in the form of a mermaid story from Germany. Yes, we know that mermaids probably don’t exist, but just in case, don’t promise to give them anything. Now, this particular story involves a mermaid, the definition of a cooper, some shapeshifting, a princess, and a dragon. Things are going to get a little bit silly, so buckle up. Give Me the Happiness

Hey Friends! We hope you didn’t miss us too much while we were gone. We certainly missed you! We’ve got good news and some not so good stories for you because WE ARE BACK! So, lets dive in, shall we? In our new format, we’ve decided to tell one huge bummer story first and then follow it up with less of a bummer – this way, we’re not ruining your life too much. How does that sound? Good? GREAT! Maggie is up first with this week’s big bummer and (we think) the truly important story of the murder of Fred Hampton. Hampton was a rising star in the Black Panther Party in Chicago in the late 60s until he crossed J. Edgar Hoover’s radar. You see, Hoover was not a fan of the Black Panthers or Martin Luther King Jr. or the civil rights movement in general and he launched a subversive campaign designed to discredit leaders within the civil rights movement and, ultimately, sow violence throughout their groups. Hoover launched an assault on the Black Panther Party in Chicago and on December 4, 1969, Hampton was murdered by the FBI in cold blood. Dreia would like to tell you all about the Forbidden Experiment. This experiment has been tested out at least four times in recorded history with the same gruesome results, and yet, people keep wanting to try it out. The idea behind the experiment is that at one point, all of humanity spoke the same language, so these “scientists” decided that the universal language could actually be determined by raising babies without human interaction. Little Sprinkles of Positivity

Hello Friends! As we are sure you're aware, we are in the middle of a global pandemic. While we are sheltering in place and taking precautions to remain physically healthy, the current situation has taken a pretty big toll on our mental health and we have made the difficult decision to put the podcast on hiatus for a month.
