Probably the third saddest episode of Merlin ever, where basically everyone fails to make friends with the people they should make friends with. Cue discussion of the morality of uprisings, how much Morgana is responsible, and Gaius being The Worst.

S2E12: The Fires of Idirsholas

Morgana and Mordred are reunited and it goes as well as you'd expect. We talk about different kinds of activism and continue to believe that Arthur Knows. (He KNOWS)

S2E11:p The Witch's Quickening

Merlin meets A Midsummer Night's Dream and is funny and then kinda sad just like the play. YUP it's another Arthur and a magical romance ep and it's a guddun. Mostly.

S2E10: Sweet Dreams

Wahey, it's the second-most heartbreaking episode of Merlin! We discuss Freya's (arguably disproportionate)impact on fandom, different kinds of magic, and our love for crying Colin.

S2E9: The Lady of the Lake

A MYSTERIOUS KNIGHT is a WOMAN, which rocks everybody's world more than any of this magic nonsense. Everyone is pretty sexist about it and we deduct points from everyone except for Morgana. Arthur's mummy issues break our collective hearts, everybody's pretty sad, and it's Freya next week. Wow. Remember when Angharad said this season was fun?

S2E8: The Sins of the Father

It's the childcatcher episode! We discuss the wholesale robbery of imagery from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, what medieval witch hunting was actually like, and all the horrific implied torture in the background. Lads, let's be real, the nightmare began a long time ago. But the Merlin writers have finally got with the picture, and so we have an episode title that really chimes perfectly with all this stuff going on right now in the world. Escapism? What escapism? Everybody makes some terrible decisions and we talk about a bunch of other miserable media content (Mindhunter! Jane Eyre!)

S2E2: The Once and Future Queen

YOOO WE'RE BACK!! At the end of last season Angharad mistakenly said that S2 was a little lighter on the tragedy. They were wrong. Very wrong. So we start as we mean to go on, with revenge plots, vague non-apologies for genocide, and sacrifice.
