WR 05: Kirsten Aune - Textile Artist Turned Urban Homesteader Turned Textile Artist

In this episode Kris Miller shares with us how she “tracks aliveness” & uses herbs in her therapy sessions with clients. She studied plant spirit medicine with Pam Montgomery, herbal medicine with Rosemary Gladstar and is a co-director at Heartstone Herbal School with Tammi Sweet from episode 2. They have developed a brand new course at their school called Journey of the Heart that brings students through a whole year of transformation through the seasons. At the time of this recording it was a year away and now at the time of this release it is half way through the first year and it is going amazingly well. Kris is one of my teachers, mentors, and is just so so wonderful. WR 04: Kris Miller - Using Plants in a Therapy Practice

Tammi Sweet feels like a tree amongst the flowers. Twenty years ago a friend brought her to the Northeast Women’s Herbal Gathering and it was there she found her community of people who love plants. In this interview she shares her journey as a seeker of spirit which first brought her into devout catholicism, but when she stopped seeing god in the church she left into the pine barrens and moved closer to the plant world. WR 02: Tammi Sweet – A Search for God Led Her to Plants

Kara Timmons decided college wasn’t for her at 19 and left to see the country. In the national forest in New Mexico she found a flier for 7 Songs program (from Episode 1) that brought her into her herbal journey. That journey ended up spanning the whole breadth of North America. Once she hung her shingle as an herbalist she realized that she wanted to know more so she headed back to school to become a PA. For Kara, herbal medicine and allopathic medicine are not at odds. WR 03: Kara Timmons – Physicians Assistant & Clinical Herbalist?

7 Song is the teacher and director of the NE School of Botanical Medicine. In 1981 he hitch hiked to Santa Cruise to attend his first herb class at the Platonic Herbal Academy. He kept hitch hiking for a few more years then settled in at the California School of Herbal Studies in 1983. He studied hard for 10 years, living in a P.O.S. before he got serious and spent a few years with Michael Moore. He’s been teaching here in Ithaca since the early 90’s. This is a great interview. We talk all about the young 7 Song and how he came into herbalism, opened his school in Ithaca NY and what he’s learned as an herbal teacher over the following 25 years. For 7 Song his desire to know the names of things sparked his interest in botany. He is skilled in botany and herbal first aid. He also gives away most of his medicine for free.
