Interview with Dr. Willie Jolley

In this episode, Dr. AZ offered the four elements of topdog psychology. The underdogs turned topdogs were fearless, the didn&apos;t get scared of the giants in their field. They didn&apos;t put their heroes and heroines on a pedestal. They honored and sought their advice, and mentoring but they believed that they too were special and can become great in their own unique ways. They tapped into a higher power. They didn&apos;t depend on their physical and intellectual capacity, and resources and networks within their backyards alone. They also were players. Even if they knew that the system was rigged against them, the playing field wasn&apos;t labeled, the game and its rules weren&apos;t fair, they rolled their sleeves up and played with the belief that if they work harder and go the extra mile they could win and also influence the system and create a labeled field if not for them for future generations of underdogs. The 4 Stages of Greatness

Dr. AZ recapped the main discussion point of Episode 14 (What is & isn&apos;t Greatness), which focused on demystifying misunderstandings around the concept of greatness and redefined true greatness. In that episode, he also pointed out that while the world has been rattled by the COVID19 pandemic and mourning the loss of lives and destruction of careers and businesses, we were greeted with the nonsense brutal murder of an unarmed already cuffed man in daylight by a brutal law enforcement official. Dr. AZ noted that this unfortunate incident on the soil of America- a country that supposed to be a symbol of freedom and justice around the world, brought diverse people worldwide to demand justice, equality, institutional reforms, and policy changes. Nonetheless, Dr. AZ emphasized in the last episode that such changes take years and sometimes even decades that while all of us playing our part in institutional reforms and policy changes collectively without losing sight to work on ourselves to earn respect, for which we have absolute control. By the way, that is why he decided to produce a series of episodes to empower underdogs to transform their lives into great during their lifetime, to become topdogs in the field of their choice. In Episode 15 (Destroying Victim Mentality), he used contemporary great ones such as Obama, Oprah, and Les Brown to show how these underdogs overcame and finally became topdogs in their respective industries regardless of the existence of victimizing people and systems because they had destroyed victim mentality. He also shared his recent victim mentality and how he finally destroyed it when he increased his awareness, changed his thoughts, and took actions. He also shared how victim mentality is formed, and the approaches one can use to destroy victim mentality. Destroying Victim Mentality

Dr. AZ began this episode by recognizing the two major crises we are facing right now: a global pandemic caused by COVID19 and a national crisis following the brutal murder of George Floyd. He emphasized that all of us should play our part in institutional reforms and policy changes collectively. Nonetheless, he also stressed that such changes take time. Thus, in the meantime, Dr. AZ encouraged each one of us to work on ourselves for which we have control without waiting for anyone. We can begin working on ourselves right away without waiting days, weeks, months, years, and until institutions and policies to change. We can begin earning respect individually while demanding fairness and equality collectively. We can start today to transform ourselves from underdogs to great; from underdogs to top dogs in the area of our passion. However, he acknowledged that there are many misunderstandings and myths that prevent many from believing that they are greatness material. In this episode, he answered the questions of what is and isn&apos;t greatness. He clarified some misunderstandings that have kept many from claiming their birthright of greatness. By giving some examples, he showed some of the faulty beliefs that have kept people from embracing the concept of greatness. He also defined what true greatness means.
