We All Deserve To Thrive: How to Balance Entrepreneurship and Motherhood

In honor of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, I'm sharing my cancer journey to remind everyone to put your health first. Bringing awareness to colon cancer is of the utmost importance to me. As some of you may already know, I was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in 2015.  In this episode, I give you the backstory and context as to why I let my symptoms go for so long, why I was misdiagnosed, and how I ultimately was presented with the diagnosis. As a busy mom, I was very quick to self-diagnose things as my health started to deteriorate. Even though I was tired all the time and had brain fog, I figured it was just the rigors of being a mom and balancing three kids. In 2009, my stomach pains had gotten intolerable to the point I passed out in front of my children. One of the most important things I have learned through my cancer journey is, putting yourself last is not putting anybody first. Please take care of your health, schedule that doctor visit, and if you have a history of colon cancer in your family like I do, get your screening sooner. We don't come out of a battle the same person as we went in, but I'm a much better person for it, and I'm grateful.  Show Notes

Through coaching, she discovered that many of her clients had the same issue; they felt like they had a curse. A curse where they run into the same repetitive dating problems over and over again. What would create specific patterns in people that keeps them from genuinely finding love and keeping love? The ego. Jess's 3rd book, "Cursed? Why You Still Don't Have the Relationship You Want and the Five Cures that Can Transform Your Love Life," explains the 5 different ways that the ego manifests in people and how to eliminate the curse on your own. In This Episode, you will hear: Both Jess and Barbara worked in sales while in their 20's, gaining a valuable set of skills in future job positions and in life.  Jess always had this idea in the back of her head to write a book drawing parallels between relationships and sales.  She connected with Good Morning America in 2008 by befriending the gatekeeper who answers the phone. She asked the woman who answers the phone if she was in a relationship. Her first book gives people a strategy of how not to get rejected.
