“God will give you whatever you want” -  UnBiblical Things that Christians Believe: Captivated For Christ Episode 13 God will give you whatever you want right? After all, doesn’t the Bible say that God will give you the desires of your heart? Actually, although that’s what the Psalmist said in Psalm 37:4, that’s not what the author of the Psalm meant. When you look at the entire scope of the Bible and know about God’s character, you can clearly see that God doesn’t just give you whatever you want all the time. He does however answer prayer, because Jesus promises, “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24). While it sounds nice, the phrase is actually very untrue! Not only is this phrase found absolutely nowhere in the Bible, it also doesn’t reflect the character of God! So if this phrase isn’t true, what happens when God actually does close doors for us? After all, when we do our part, shouldn't God do his? While it is true that when we are working with God and we do our part, God will still do his, that doesn't mean that God only helps those who help themselves. You see, God wants to help us and he wants what is best for us, but that doesn't mean that he only helps those who help themselves. He always wants to helps us, but it doesn't always mean that if we do everything ourselves that he will. "God won't give you anything that you can't handle yourself" - UnBiblical Things That Christians Believe: Captivated For Christ Episode 9 In my walk with God, I have heard many people talk about the struggles that they are going through, and whenever I hear about their struggles I usually try to comfort them and be their for them. After they have heard this, most people respond with saying things like, "It's okay", or "Thank you for your concern". However, a new response has started to arise within the church, and it is the phrase,"It's okay, God won't give me anything I can't handle myself". The idea that God won't give you anything that you can't handle sounds nice when said or hear, however this idea is very unbiblical and not true at all. Still, the fact remains that many people say this phrase thinking that it's the truth about when really Jesus has never ever said this thing. So what is the biblical truth? "God won't give you anything that you can't handle yourself" - UnBiblical Things That Christians Believe: Captivated For Christ Episode 9 In my walk with God, I have heard many people talk about the struggles that they are going through, and whenever I hear about their struggles I usually try to comfort them and be their for them. After they have heard this, most people respond with saying things like, "It's okay", or "Thank you for your concern". However, a new response has started to arise within the church, and it is the phrase,"It's okay, God won't give me anything I can't handle myself". The idea that God won't give you anything that you can't handle sounds nice when said or hear, however this idea is very unbiblical and not true at all. Still, the fact remains that many people say this phrase thinking that it's the truth about when really Jesus has never ever said this thing. So what is the biblical truth? "We're All Part of God's Family"- UnBiblical Things That Christians Believe: Captivated For Christ Episode 8Every single person is created by God and he loves everyone! Well since he loves everyone and God is the creator of every human, along with the fact that he is our Heavenly Father, that must mean that every person is a child of God! Actually, well every person is created by God, not every person is a child of God. You see, we become children of God when we choose to follow Jesus for it is written in John 1:12,"Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (NIV). God is LORD over everything, so that must mean that he is the cause for everything that happens right? Well actually, this saying is very unbiblical. Although God is in control of everything and LORD over all, that doesn't mean he is not the cause of literally every single thing that happens. After all, we as humans do things that God never wanted us to do and never even approved of (It's called sin). So if God doesn't cause everything to happen, then what are the reasons that bad things happen in the world and do our actions have consequences?
