Understanding Anxiety in our Children and Adolescents

  Talking about stress management, self-care and mental health in the workplace can reduce the stigma associated with mental illness. Today, we sit down with Independent Health and Horizon to further discuss what the two organizations have developed to assist employers on how to provide resources and education to their employees. The partnership will achieve this through a training program by connecting employers with resources to identify mental health conditions and also assist employees through what can be a sensitive conversation with their teams. Experts are predicting that the need for mental healthcare services will continue to escalate as the corona virus pandemic continues and being able to recognize the symptoms of mental health conditions and continue conversations is vital for maintaining a healthy workplace. Employers Need to Talk About Mental Health in the Workplace

We sit down with Sean Cuddihy from Room 9 to discuss his experience while going through treatment, his journey with recovery and his focus on collaborating to end the stigma around mental health and substance use. Sean founded Room 9 in 2018 when he was at Horizon Village for heroin use. He titled it Room 9 because 9 was his room number.  Colleen Babcock connected with Horizon when her son started to come to us for support and treatment. She set up a meeting with Horizon’s CEO and proposed her position of Parent and Family Support Coordinator. After experiencing the treatment system as a parent, she felt like it was vital to have a person on staff who solely works with parents, families, friends and community members who are navigating the treatment system and trying to educate themselves on next steps. Colleen meets and speaks with families and loved ones of patients who are in different stages of navigating treatment. She provides education, awareness and support around substance use. A Resource for Families
