Alan Moy- Viet Nom Nom

In this episode we will discuss the Foundation’s mission, its role during the pandemic and its vision for the future. Foundation65 is an independent grantmaking organization that invests in educator-led initiatives to support educational equity through literacy and arts in a child’s foundational years.Alecia brings more than 20 years of experience working to transform the lives of children through advocacy, education, and engagement. She has worked in youth development, as a legal aid attorney representing women and children, and in higher education supporting gender equity and racial justice.  She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, her EdM from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, and her JD from the University of Wisconsin. Alecia is also a former all-American swimmer for the University of Michigan. Michael Edgar from GWDC/SelectChicago®

This week on Inside the Skev, we are joined by Dr. Devon Horton, Superintendent of Evanston/Skokie School District 65, and Joseph Hailpern, District 65 Board Member. Dr. Horton joined the District 65 team in 2020. We will discuss how the district has responded to the pandemic, instituted social equity, and is preparing for the future.Prior to joining the District 65 team, Dr. Horton served as the Chief of Schools for the Jefferson County Public School System in Louisville, KY. He began his career in Chicago Public Schools, where he was a middle school teacher for 10 years before moving into building administration.
