What is a biblical view of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and this election year? I did a short talk for my church in regards to these two topics in the hope of anchoring our community in God's word.

A Donkey and An Elephant Walk Into A Room…

Is it our reasonable scientific thinking about our faith and the world around us? Or is it our message of “Jesus makes everyone happy”? Or is it the abuse of the term ‘spiritual warfare’ saying there’s demons in our flat tires? I’m not sure what the reason is but we have fallen asleep in the midst of a battle. Satan is here working overtime to deceive, lie, kill and destroy us and many of us couldn’t be bothered with it. It’s a war that’s waging and somehow we’ve forgotten about it. Yet when pausing we might realize we are in a battle but we’re numbing ourselves to the defeat we feel with self pity, self loathing, self medicating, staying busy and always distracting ourselves.  It’s time to wake up! It’s time to rise up and tell the enemy he’s already lost and begin walking in the victory Christ has provided for us at the cross. This series is entitled “The Forgotten War: Waking Up To The Spiritual Battle You’re Already In”. My prayer for our you is that you would be equipped by this series to rise up as a prophetic warrior and take your place of victory in the battle field. That you would learn to walk in Christ’s victory in your heart, mind and soul and fight for those around you!For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.2 Corinthians 10:4

The most common questions we hear asked are, “What is happening to the Church in America?” followed by, “Is the Church going away?”. In the last few weeks alone influential Christian leaders have publicly renounced Christianity and encouraged people to see there is not just one version of God. While this may appear as discouraging, let us be mindful that this is nothing in comparison to what God’s bride has faced before.Hardship is the crucible for beauty and we believe we are on the cusp of a more vibrant and alive American church than ever before. Yet we have to weather the storm while remaining a FAITHFUL PRESENCE in the world. Over the next 6 weekends, we’ll be looking at 6 defining habits of the Church that have always enabled her to stand the test of time! Our hope is as the bride of Christ we can revive these habits today and appear in our community, empowered by the Holy Spirit, as a felt expression of the love of Jesus.
