The disciples walked with Jesus for three years, and it seems that Scripture indicates they weren’t always sure if He was the Christ. However, in this passage, we read of a clear and specific moment where Jesus asked His disciples who they believed that He was. Peter declared, “You are the Christ!” Why did it take them so long to declare exactly who Jesus was? When referring to a person, the word faithful means that someone is “true to their word, fulfills their vow and keeps their promise.” If I were to say “that person is faithful,” I would mean that they are trustworthy, reliable, dependable, and devoted. Now we all want to have this quality in our lives, but we certainly know that God is the absolute example of what faithfulness means and looks like.
