There are some areas in our life where we deserve to be undeniably selfish. We talk about some areas where I believe it is most important. There are much more than the ones that I talk about, but I believe these are important areas where I may face judgment from other people.

Being Undeniably Selfish

In what areas in our lives do we find ourselves reacting too quickly? I know in my experience I have had numerous occasions where I reacted way too quickly to certain conversations, actions and definitely feedback. By no means is this an episode on never being angry, but more so an in-depth look at what triggers us in these circumstances and how can we react in an analyzed and more effective way.   

How Quickly do we React to Things?

How do we stay motivated to do better in our everyday life? Everything that goes on in our life, sometimes we can feel defeated, lazy, or unmotivated to get anything done or to achieve our personal goals. How can we attack this challenge and find our motivation? I find my motivation by using two things: 1) Self-Reflection and 2) setting goals. 

Staying Motivated

Self-Reflection to me is such an important skill for personal growth. It allows us to be more in tune with who we are as a person, our emotions and how we respond to different circumstances/events. It's something that we don't learn overnight, but something we work at, every... single... day. 

Self-Reflection

When we get a new job or a new class schedule, it can be tough to reorganize how our day looks. We might have to change our morning and night routine, sacrifice the gym, eat out because we can't cook and many other things. This episode, we'll take a look at how we can reincorporate our hobbies, our routines, and our rituals back into our life when we are adjusting to a new opportunity. 

Readjusting your Daily Routine to a New Experience

Whatever journey we're on: school, work, personal goals, and passions, it is important to celebrate the wins and goals we achieve through the process. Often times, we overlook the small goals and the small wins; we only celebrate the end goal, the end of our journey. By giving the same amount of attention to the goals throughout our process, we learn to love the journey. With the right mindset, we can turn the loses into growing and learning opportunities, which in turn, develop into small wins for ourselves.

"Surround yourself with people who will help you become better." This phrase has been written and said in various ways at some point in our life. I didn't really grasp the concept until my college years. Maybe that reflects where my maturity level was at the time... BUT I think I'm starting to have a better understanding of what the phrase means. I hope you all enjoy this episode and what it means to have good company within your circle that allows for growth and support.

Surrounding Yourself with Good Company

Social media is something that we use on a daily basis. For some of us, its the first thing we do when we wake up... or the last thing we do before we go to sleep. Why do we use it? Do we actually want to know what our friends, peers, family members are doing? Are we wondering what our favorite celebrity or influencer is doing today? Or really... are we just trying to kill some time? Today's episode dives into the way we feel when we use social media. Are we comparing our lives to those that we see on a post? And if we are, why do we feel that way? We'll also talk about some practical things to do that can potentially reduce our screen time and/or reliance on social media. 

How do we feel when we use social media?

What we accomplish in our lives or what we strive to accomplish in our lives, often comes with expectations, a timetable, peer pressure, etc.. As an individual, we might feel pressured to finish things within a certain time because we see someone finish college in four years on social media or we hear a friend get a promotion at work in such little time. We all have our own journey and hurdles to overcome. It's okay to take longer than others, as long as we don't create excuses for ourselves. We have to look within ourselves to keep us accountable and be true to one's self. Own your time and be confident with your own timetable. At the end of the day, it's your life; you live it on your own accord...

Owning Your Time

This is a short introduction to my first podcast! On Your Own Time. We can be so focused on work, school, relationships, family and often times we forget to take care of ourselves. I hope with this podcast, we can cover numerous topics that we care about and learn something about ourselves that can help us be better. Develop a better understanding of our thoughts, emotions, reactions, etc... We need to remind ourselves that this our life to live and it is up to us to establish what our goals and passions are; we need to remind ourselves that we can accomplish our dreams... on our own accord... on our own time.
