Parent-led kids devotion focusing on Grass. In this devo, we learn from Psalm 23: 1-3 that God is our Shepherd. As we walk outside with our kids in this devo, we walk down a path to find a nice path of grass, a garden or a pasture. Walk along a path of hard ground or rocks and compare it to walking on soft grass. Lie down on hard ground and compare it to lying down on soft grass. God leads us down paths toward comfortable, safe, soft places. Talk about how we care for stuffed animals and pets and how a parent cares for their child. God cares for us and wants us to walk with him.

Parent-led kids devotion focusing on Rocks. In this devo, we learn from 1 Samuel 2:2 that God is holy and Perfect. We talk about our priorities in life and how they need to be in line behind God! As we walk outside with our kids in this devo, we will find, collect and stack rocks to build a tower. Next to that tower, we will build a tower of leaves or flowers. Which one is stronger? God is like the strong rock tower. He alone if perfect and to be praised. All other entities will fade away and fall like this tower of leaves or flowers. All good things in our life are from God and nothing should be put before him!

ROCKS devo | God is Perfect

Parent-led kids devotion focusing on Shade and our Protector God. In this devo, we walk outside on a sunny or hot day and feel the difference between playing in the sun & heat to sitting in the shade and relaxing. For a nighttime activity, we sit outside after sunset, sitting a few inches or a foot away from our kids and then move closer and cuddle for comfort. Read Psalm 121: 5-6 and talk about God who comforts and protects us. He never slumbers or sleeps so we can go to him at any time of day or night!

SHADE devo | God is Our Protector

Parent-led kids devotion focusing on Rain. In this devo, we learn from Zechariah 10:1 that God is the Provider. We walk outside this week and watch the dry earth or thirsty plants soak up rain or water from a watering can. As we watch the effects of the rain or water, talk about our verse and how God gives us rain for the physical, literal benefit and that we can see the earth and plants get revived. He also provides for our emotional and spiritual needs, to ultimately revive our spirits. And just as our verse says this week, we can pray for "rain" and ask for God's provision in our lives. He is ready to give and provide!

Parent-led kids devotion focusing on Light. In this devo, we learn from Genesis 1:3-5 that God is the Creator. As we walk outside with our kids in this devo, we will see how our view of the sun changes through the day and perhaps watch sunset with your kids. Talk about how God began his creation of the world as we know it by bringing light and setting the rhythms of day and night. We can appreciate the light & daytime and then appreciate dark and night because God knew what he was doing when he created these rhythms- that we can live fully and then rest well. Dig deeper by talking about how a new day is a new opportunity to start fresh, leaving behind yesterdays frustrations or mistakes and living in new light! God is good in how he designed this world.

LIGHT devo | God is the Creator

Parent-led kids devotion focusing on Clouds. In this devo, we learn from Job 37:14-16 that God is Wonderful. As we walk outside with our kids in this devo, we will find a place to lay down or recline so we can look up at the clouds. Slow down, make shapes with the clouds or just watch them pass by. Job is encouraged in these verses to "stop and consider God's wonders," but he didn't just settle on that advice, Job continued to persist and inquire of God and wait for him. We can learn to do that too and guide our kids in that! In moments of joy or frustration, let's remember to stop, consider his wonders, and then turn to God again and again for peace, rest and renewal. Ultimately, God's wonders lead us to worship him not because of the beautiful clouds, but because his miraculous way point us to our need for a Savior and that redemption has been provided!!

Through scripture and our outside activity, we will see how God uses the element of mountains to teach us about himself. We will ask the question "Who is God?" and dive into his character and attributes. After the intro and parent prep, it's time for the devo:- Walk Outside to engage in an activity of looking at a mountain, rock, boulder or hill. Look at the details, feel its strength, see colors. - Teach Scripture by reading or playing Psalm 90:2 - Talk Truth by revealing God is Everlasting. However grand, stable, and strong mountains, and hills seem, they're not fixed or permanent. Only God is everlasting. He was and is and is to come. - Dig Deeper by asking your kids the oldest thing they know or the oldest person they know. Or ask them to count their age on their fingers. God has existed before that old thing or old person. God is beyond age and always will be.

After the intro and parent prep, it's time for the devo:- Walk Outside to engage in an activity of looking at tree in detail, seeing how any leaves, flower or fruit are connected to the stem, branch, trunk down to the roots. - Teach Scripture by reading or playing John 15:4-5 - Talk Truth by revealing Jesus as our sustainer. Just as a leaf is dependent upon the whole system of the tree, we are completely dependent on Jesus to produce "good fruit" like kindness, joy and love. Jesus is the one who nourishes us and gives us life. - Dig Deeper by asking your kids about ways they can produce good fruit. What are examples of ways we can treat people the way God calls us to?

We will ask the question "Who is God?" and dive into his character and attributes. After the intro and parent prep, it's time for the devo: - Walk Outside to engage in an activity of throwing found nature objects into the air, seeing the effects of wind- Teach Scripture by reading or playing Mark 4:38-41 - Talk Truth by illustrating how God is all powerful in his ability to control and command wind. He also has power over our lives, When we believe God is all power, we can trust him in all things. - Dig Deeper by asking your kids about surprising things that have happened in their lives recently. Talk about how God knows about all things before they even happen.

In this episode, we outline a typical Teach Talk Walk Devotion. We also share insight into how we go through the devo so you can feel equipped to lead your kiddos through it on your own. You can use the audio as a lose word track while you engage in the activity or play the Kids Devo portion out loud for them in real time as your engage in the activity. Big tips we have: take a few minutes during the parent prep portion to plan where you will go for the activity and what you need to bring with you, and be aware that it's normal for kids to get distracted. You'll probably have to redirect a few times and circle back to points (or is that just our kids?). As you get ready to engage in a TTW devotion, be encouraged and be bold in walking with your kids in truth; you can speak with confidence that God is working through you with His active Word and truth and through His creation works!
