Paul was someone who grew up thinking that your capacity for violence and the demonstration of aggression was the measure of a man. He spent a lot of his adolescence getting into physical confrontations and fights, but when he was 18 ended up killing someone, as a result of a drug deal gone wrong. Paul: (01:43) He was convicted of murder and spent more than ten years in New Zealand's toughest prisons.He began his undergraduate studies while incarcerated, and pursued a PhD, and Masters within an area of psychology called differential psychology, which concerns itself with the psychological differences between people, attributes, behaviours and characteristics such as aggression.He's also a Judo Black Belt and although he won't claim to be an athlete, has been an avid competitor in the sport.With his knowledge in the area of differential psychology and his life experience in two spheres of society which could be considered violent, he's got an interesting perspective and a firm grasp of the theory and application of anger and aggression within the context of life and sport.Bronfenbrenner, U. GUEST BIOIvica Pavlinic's aspiration of becoming an Olympian and fighting for an Olympic medal began in New Zealand, toward a successful career living, training and competing around the world for victory on the international circuit.  He's accomplished multiple National and Oceania titles, with a top 16 finish at the World Championships, competed for New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games, and been on the fringe of competing in the Olympic games twice, in both London 2012 and Rio 2016.He draws on his competitive experience as the current coach of NSW Judo Team, assisting others on the same pathway to Olympic and World championship success. Explosive power and speed are crucial for fight athletes. Many fundamental movements of combat sports require an explosive component to be effective.The most recognised fighters harness these qualities to connect with a lethal knee, evade an opponents attack or deliver the knockout blow. Becoming the best at combat sport requires training the qualities that contribute to these movements. Plyometric training is considered advanced because athletes need to have proficient strength and stability through any movement pattern before adding any explosive component.Plyometric training uses exercises that involve explosive power and speed involve jumps, bounds, sprints, change of direction drills, and med ball throw exercises. Joseph Coyne shares his experience training these qualities in athletes.
