Health Care, Privacy and Abortion - Women's Rights in 2022 are in danger.  In the United States, a woman's right to medical care and a women's Constitutional Right to Privacy are being challenged.  Abortion is not a topic most people want to discuss. But now is an excellent time to put your fears aside and talk with your mom or grandmother. Ask them about medical and unwanted pregnancy were handled back when.  What O.G.'s have to say about this topic is INVALUABLE. Communicating with Grown Children - Communicating with Parents Let's all agree. Unless you have a perfect relationship, asking for a favor from anybody is not easy.  Then there is this: A One-On-One with an adult child or a parent includes emotional baggage. Personally, talking seriously with my daughter is never easy. Explaining why I have no desire to be a GREAT, and I mean wonderful, grandma requires a long, long, long explanation. Bottom Line: try to take some time to explain your emotional history. Why are you the way you are? It will make matters much easier in the long run.

How to Survive Tough Times: Get Mad, Get Angry, But LIVE! I attempted to write and recorded this episode of One-On-One early Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. I planned to get it posted before the end of the day. But our house was filled with chaos today. Aiden had his first football game, Alexandra was volunteering at the Game. All I wanted to do was drop off our ballots. As I gathered my thoughts for this podcast, I wrote a post for my new newsletter on Substack. Please check it out. "Let's Talk - One-On-One." I was interrupted 75 times by family members. All that said, it is nice to be needed. So I decided to produce an unscripted, live-to-Adobe Audition Episode. The phrase, “You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby,” was once an advertising slogan for CIGARETTES! The year was 1968, the Ad featuring a tall, slender woman in a pantsuit became sort of an unofficial slogan for the National Organization for Women and feminists all over the U.S. At the same time, in the late 1960s, the Federal Communication Commission established rules to encourage radio and television stations to hire more women and minorities. That’s one of the reasons I got my first radio job. So I have real-life experience with Affirmative Action.   In, 2021 most of us agree that cigarettes cause cancer, and, in fact, we still haven’t elected a woman for president. Depression Sucks - It killed May for me, but it can't have June. I have two new Female heroes: Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams.  I don't play tennis, I don't watch tennis, but these two women athletes make me PROUD to be a woman. Naomi Osaka suffers from depression and anxiety. She's sorry about it. Serena Williams says, 'You have NOTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR."  Osaka is brave. Serena is a Champion! We are such a harsh, unkind, backward society. Nobody should have to apologize for suffering from a mental illness.  I haven't posted a podcast since April. In this episode, I explain why. Local News Coverage is disappearing in America City-by-City. Critics of Television News shrug and say, “So What?” But when it happens in your town, it can be devastating. Think about it. No news from City Hall, no local traffic, no local weather. Sure. You can log on and check your phone, but if there are no local reporters, or news people, or meteorologists, who is there for you? An answer is usually a person working for a major conglomerate in another city, hundreds of miles from your home. This scenario I described is happening in Casper, Wyoming. But there is a small but vocal grassroots effort to revive local news. It may result in the birth of a television station called Casper 1 - TV at a Higher Elevation. More than 2.3 million women have left the workforce since February 2020.   Millions left the workforce to care for their children and to handle education responsibilities. The ones I've spoken with are not complaining. "Kids come first,"  is what I've heard.   Still, it's going to be tough to get back to where we were. Now is a good time to talk to a woman you know. If ever there was a time for all of us to stop and talk to each other about ways to end racism and Hate, THIS IS IT!  Anti Asian-American Pacific Islander Hate Crimes increased 150 percent in 2020 when compared to 2019. According to the organization "Human Rights Watch," cities across the United States are seeing numerous attacks, especially against older people and women. The City of Oakland, CA, reported 20 attacks during January 2021. Hate Crimes are happening everywhere, but New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area are experiencing the most blatant violence. I  spoke One-On-One with Professor Timothy Fong from Sacramento State's Ethnic Studies Department. Historians say the United States has a long, dark history of discrimination against immigrants from Asia. Anti Asian American Hate Crimes Increase - One-On-One

Jane Austen, the author of Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, and other great books, wrote, “Let other pens dwell on guilt and misery. I quit such odious subjects as soon as I can, impatient to restore everyone to comfort and a happy ending.” I agree with my sister Jane Austen 100 percent. In literature and film, in art and llife, I crave Happy endings. I had a great One-On-One conversation with my Movie Buddy and Nephew Joey Garcia. Our main topic was "WandaVision." He gives it 5 Stars, Two Thumbs Up. I have a problem with the ENDING!!!  No Spoilers!

How many times have you heard the phrase, “Choose Your Attitude?” It comes from Viktor Frankl. This is a quote from Psychiatrist Viktor Frankl’s memoir, “Man’s Search for Meaning,” “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” “Everything can be taken from a man (or woman) but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” Viktor Frankl was tortured and imprisoned at four different Nazi Concentration Camps between 1942 to 1945,  including Auschwitz. His parents, brother, and pregnant wife all died.   Frankl’s theory, logotherapy, argues that we cannot avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose. I love this.
