J.Go breaks down how to identify a coach like this and when to set boundaries.   Some red flags to look for in coaching: - There’s nothing wrong with their methods, it’s YOUR fault you’re not losing weight. - They tell you that if you don’t stick to the (probably restrictive) meal plan, then you’re not serious enough. - Talking down to, or belittling, clients - Being caught up in their ego and not being willing to shift part of the program to appease their client   When to set Boundaries:  - If you’re being shamed and are getting no flexibility -- it’s time to drop that coach. - If you’re feeling responsible for other people’s happiness, or feel like other people’s problems are consuming you -- you need to set boundaries.  - Feeling guilty over small things or wanting time for yourself - If you’re a ‘yes’ woman and put your own needs on the back burner - If you avoid sharing your opinion to avoid confrontation - If you find it difficult to express your needs to others (for fear of judgement or guilt).  As your coach, I care much more about your relationship with food + your body than I do about cutting corners to get “results” that can lead to long-term physical AND mental health issues down the road.⁣ You deserve to invest in a coach who cares AND has education + experience to support your goals long-term.⁣

And what changed?  - Her main goal for BCB was to lose weight, but she got so much more out of the program.  - She left with a better relationship with herself, her husband, and her son. - She became more intentional with her time. - She learned to give herself grace.  - “You go in one way, and come out a totally different way. You can’t expect it.”   Where did she start with her Youtube channel? - She wanted to start a Youtube for years but thought she wasn’t “right” for it. She realized she’s AWESOME and just DID it. - Christal’s goal is to share what she learned with J.Go’s program and make people feel like they are not alone.  - “You’re not alone. You’re awesome where you are. Start where you are. It’s never a perfect time or perfect place. Just invest in yourself and give yourself a chance. You don’t know if you’ll fly or fall, but you’re doing it.” - Christal   How can you show up confidently and get past the fear of judgement? - BCB was the first time she invested in herself. J.Go told her, “You're investing in everyone else, why not invest in yourself?”. And that was true.  - When she started her channel, she thought “What do I have to lose?” - “We focus on the “what if?” but SO WHAT if you fall, at least you jumped.”    How is she still implementing what she’s learned?  - When she started writing out how she spent her time during the day, she saw that it was not intentional. She wasn’t living “in the moment” with her husband and son.  - Now, she intentionally spends time with each of them and their relationships have gotten stronger. The time she spends with them is more valuable than physical gifts could be.  - A lot of women struggle and feel guilty investing money in themselves, but she feels as if she’s a better mom because of it.  - A lot of parents struggle with feeling selfish investing in themselves, but really, it helps you create a better space for you and your family.    What’s something Christal is working towards that’s a little scary / confidently uncomfortable?  - Continuing with her Youtube channel. She’s still putting herself in front of a camera and showing up -- even on the days that suck to let people know they’re not alone.   What would you say to someone who’s afraid of the time investment? - It can be only one hour for yourself every day.  - “You deserve that hour more than anybody else. It’s ok to take that time. For everybody’s sanity you need to make that time for yourself. It’s ok to make that investment in yourself. You can’t be your best for anybody else if you’re not the best for you.”  - You will learn how to be the most intentional with the time you are given. - When she started to be intentional, she realized how much time she had.  - J.Go is the type of coach who won’t pressure you. When she was questioning herself, J.Go didn’t force her to do anything, but remained supportive and kept her motivated. She had to do it for herself.

She missed coaching in person and making those types of connections.  - When she was little, she wanted to be a preacher and speak in front of an audience.  How did the Go.Retreat come into fruition?   - The original plan was to host it in May 2020, but that didn’t happen.  - Once she signed the contract with the Wild Dunes Resort, things got real.  - J.Go needed to find guidance and support to help her make this dream come true.  - She talked to Lindsey Shwartz (https://www.lindseyschwartz.com/ @llindseyschwartz) who helped her see what was possible. - It can be overwhelming to start something new. Limiting beliefs will arise, and they did for J.go. Sometimes our egos tell us we don’t need help, but we do.  How did you confront those limiting beliefs and challenges that arose?   - J.Go focused on the impact she wanted to make, and stopped focusing on being the biggest or most perfect event. Being able to release the ego of how it was ‘supposed’ to look helped her shift her mindset.  - She surrounded herself with people who support her - Shoutout to Alex Hanson - She was there as a sounding board and helped with all the brainstorming.  - Shoutout to Acacia Robinson - event planner and sister-in-law! J.Go could not have done this without you.  - A family emergency left J.Go feeling overwhelmed, underqualified, guilty, and wanting to quit. Acacia could no longer function as the event planner, but thankfully her baby daughter had a successful surgery over the weekend.  - J.Go needed to grieve what she thought the retreat would be and release what she thought it SHOULD be like. Her mindset shifted now to “What can I do?”  - Shoutout to J.Go’s husband Tom. He stepped up as her biggest supporter and took on the role of main event planner. He ensured that J.Go could be present with the women on the retreat. What was the Go.Retreat like?  - The women who came were amazing. They were brave, powerful, and open to getting to know each other. They had fun while being vulnerable and real.  - Friday: Mean Girls themed PJ party with a Fashion Show. This set the tone for the weekend. You can be unique and show up confidently no matter what you’re wearing.  - Saturday: 5K on the beach, brunch, pool party, silent disco.  - In every part of the day, people pushed themselves, got out of their comfort zones, and supported each other.  - J.Go had a surreal feeling watching her dreams happen in front of her.  - The main theme was to not focus on limiting beliefs, but shift our mindset to support our most confident selves. We get skeptical to try new things, but it’s in those moments that we grow.  - A lot of women were waiting on their dreams until they weighed a certain amount or had enough money. It’s hard to love yourself if you’re not surrounded by love - Just because you don’t look like you’re “starving”, you can still have an eating disorder. Some people aren’t believed or get support because they don’t “look the part”.  - ** If you can relate to this, reach out and get help from a professional   What have you done that you’re really proud of yourself of?  - When she gets caught in comparison, she stops herself. She tries to be happy for them, and if it’s too hard that day, she’ll put her phone away. - She’s learned that one day she’ll reach her goals, and it’s OK to feel happy for other people along the way.  - When we’re aware of our “inner mean girl”, we can stop her from influencing our lives - She’s learned to lean into her truth and people are gravitating towards that.  - She’s becoming more relaxed in her journey thinking, “I’ll get there when I get there.”   Is there anything else that has helped along her journey? - One thing we have control over is what we feed our brains (social media) - If you’re following someone only because she’s prettier than you or your motivation for “weight loss” you should unfollow them. - Try to minimize your phone time so you can be more present in your time.    Any other changes or shifts in her mindset? - She decided to practice gratitude for her body -- Be grateful that it digests and blinks without you having to think about it. Maybe someday you’ll be able to feel grateful for the parts of yourself that you “don't like” right now.  - People use exercise as a way to punish their bodies. It’s important to reframe that mindset. In this Podcast: How to let go of the identities we use to box ourselves in How to shift your mindset to make big changes The difference between finding short term happiness vs. fulfillment Meet Lynette Marie Hoyle - She’s an online coach who recently switched from fitness coaching to business coaching.  - Outside of work, she’s married to a relationship coach (@thesparkguy), loves true crime podcasts, cats, and social media and the online space. - At the heart of her brand she loves to see women win - Her journey is one of getting past disbelief and self doubt  Her Journey - Her identity has been tied to being the “chubby” girl and yo-yo dieting  - In college, she decided she wanted the “healthy girl” identity and started her health journey - She struggled to find a version of herself that she could believe in - She started doing bikini competitions and it brought her some confidence, but she saw herself trying to prove something but she didn’t have her why - She had to think about who she is at her core and what she wants for her life long-term  - She thought about what failure really means, and realized that failure doesn’t happen until we give up completely - She learned to break up with the identity she had boxed herself into  How’d she find her identity?  - She saw that when she was leaning hard on certain identities, she let her accomplishments define her - She would reach certain goals and benchmarks, but find the feeling underwhelming  - She evaluated her values and thought about what benchmarks she thought she should be meeting and why  - She asked herself what would bring fulfillment vs. what would bring momentary happiness?  If the internet went away, what are the things she would still value at the end of the day? - You are defined by the choices you make and how you take care of others, not about the benchmarks - We get stuck, but we need to just focus on the next choice What helped her when leveling up?  - Choices can feel so big and consequential, she needed to remind herself that “No matter what, you can handle it.  - Her Mindset: You can always make a new choice and change your mind, and not being afraid to leave things that don’t serve you  What would you say to someone who’s afraid to take a big step in their life? - She faced a lot of doubt when she wanted to pivot from fitness to business coaching - She felt stuck because it was what she was good at and it was her identity  - She felt that if she left the fitness industry, people wouldn’t like her anymore  - Lynette reminded herself to do what she wants, and that whatever happens she can handle it. There’s no growth without change.  - The people who don’t support your changes aren’t your people - The root of your brand is you, not what you specialize in  - In your 20’s, it’s hard to find your identity because you’re trying to gain stature and notoriety and social media is so distracting. It’s important to zoom out to see the bigger picture. - Practice thinking about what’s important. At the end of the day when it’s just you, what matters most? Let that become your benchmark.  - What does the happiest version of yourself look like?  Happiness vs. Fulfillment - The closest people get is short term happiness, happiness in the day and in the moment. - “Your chase of happiness is preventing you from your chase of fulfillment” - She wasn't fulfilled in fitness, but she was good at it. Loved getting the engagement and feeling that people cared about her. That made her feel good and safe, but not fulfilled.  - The switch was scary, but her ultimate happiness and fulfillment is more important than continuing the charade for people - If you’re changing your decisions based on what other people think, it’s not worth it - J.go What did she learn meant the most to her?  - High levels of success come with high levels of pressure - A lot people have probably been pretty mean to themselves for their entire lives - In this past year has made the commitment to stop being mean to herself. - No one can ever love and root for you like your own self.  - If you’re constantly at war with yourself - that’s an unhappy and un-peaceful way to live - She’s been chasing that sense of peace and freedom. Letting herself be happy and satisfied. Taking time to be proud of herself.  What’s something she’s working towards that’s uncomfortable?  - She’s learning to be more comfortable talking about money online. Break Up With Your Identity Crisis

You don’t need to wait until you reach your goal to enjoy your life.  - Some of J.Go’s clients have said “no” to life because they weren’t feeling confident. They’ve said “no” to vacations, social outings, dating, being in photos. They’ve been missing out on life, choosing to cover up, hide, and avoid mirrors.  - Life is too short for any of it. Life is too short to allow our size to dictate how we live our lives.  Take Action + Give Yourself Grace - You have to work at being confident every single day - You need to actively fight for that most confident self. You need to allow, hear, and lift up the highest thoughts about yourself.  - Actively call out the inner mean girl that’s trying to hold you back and keep you small. - You deserve to put yourself first NOW. And not when you’ve reached a goal weight.   - A lot of people have gained weight, managed their mental health, and undergone so much stress and trauma this year. You got through it all. Be proud of yourself and celebrate yourself for working through that and continuing to grow through hard seasons.  When The Judgement Comes... - It’s ok to have hard and messy days, they are the in between parts of your journey - Don’t put yourself down, openly love and embrace them - When you’re not feeling great about yourself try acknowledging those feelings. Write them down and ask, “Is this really true?” and “Does it even matter?” - Pause and focus on body acceptance. How do I feel about myself? What do I love about my body? What do I love about me? - Other people’s judgement  is really just their reflection. If you want to feel confident in your skin unconditionally, Listen Up: Don’t allow other people’s projections to affect how you live your life. Who they think you are has nothing to do with who you can become.  Don’t Wait - Your confidence cannot be tied to your weight. Your weight changes so much, it’s inevitable. But you have the power to embrace yourself unconditionally, so when these changes do happen, you’re not changing how you feel about yourself and your self worth. - Recognize that your confidence goes beyond the sizes and shapes of where you are in your life. You’re allowed to change, but I don’t want your self worth to be fully dependent on that size.  - You don’t have to wait until you’re a certain size to do things your most confident self would want. What would she be doing? How would she be talking to herself? What would she be wearing?  - Do something small this week that your most confident self would thank you for. Little small changes are what create long-term lifestyle change. She did not get into med school, so instead took a gap year. When she did get into grad school, in another country, she was faced with the idea that maybe this wasn’t for her. She cried a lot, felt isolated, homesick, and alone. During this time, her faith grew so much. The bright side: She met her intuition for the first time. She listened to her gut, and it was telling her this wasn’t right for her. She’s glad she tried. If she didn’t try, she would never know. She didn’t know what she wanted, just knew that this wasn’t it.  She wanted to help people, but not as a doctor. She trusted her intuition and knew she needed to create space for what was next.   What would you say to your previous self?  Feel your feelings. If we don’t know how we feel, we’re not in-tune. Any deviation from a plan feels like an attack. Just because life isn’t going the way you thought it would go doesn’t mean you’re a failure.  Be open to recognizing your full range of emotions.  Don’t wait for a plan to appear to you, take the next step. Once you take the next step, you’ll know if you’re going the right direction or not. It’s all about small steps forward.  The isolation was hard, but it was a time of growth.  Sometimes when we feel stuck, we’re really experiencing fear. When you’re facing your fears, you have to show up and face them.  When she’s feeling stuck, Kay asks herself what she’s afraid of? What fear is she running into that is causing her not to take an action.    How did you step into your business? What was the process of figuring out what was the right thing for you?  Kay knew she wanted to go back to school, and got her Masters. She fell in love with teaching and thought that’s what she wanted to do.  She got married and moved to Atlanta, but couldn’t get a job teaching.  Not finding a job was a roadblock and made her question her decisions. She had “done everything right”, yet, this wasn’t working. There was a lot of negative self-talk.  She decided to take a break from the job hunt, and worked for Uber and Instacart to give herself time to figure it all out. She woke up one day and decided to be a wedding photographer. She had no training, but was always creative. She loved her wedding photos, and wanted to bring other people that type of happiness.  She used Instagram to build her business, and soon enough she was teaching other people how to do the same.  She started a social media agency and empowered her clients. She learned about coaching and started a community. After that, everything started falling into place.   When did you start to see it as “I’m starting my coaching business?”  All of her businesses started because she noticed “someone needs something and I can help you with that”.  She wanted to help people, and it made sense to her. It was all sparked out of a desire to help people, which had always been inside of her.   What would you say was a scary thing you did where you had to get confidently uncomfortable in your journey? The scariest part was deciding she wasn’t going to get a “real job”. Making the decision to not have the security of a steady paycheck was very scary.  She’s an advocate for not quitting your job until you have some plans in place. A lot of people glamorize just quitting your job, but you need to be prepared. Think first: do you have a partner who can support you? Do you have money saved? Don’t be too proud to do what you need to do. If you need to drive Uber, then drive uber. Don’t let your pride get in the way of moving forward.  If you don’t quit your job, that’s totally fine. It doesn’t mean you don’t believe in yourself. It means you recognize what you need to survive and live. Your business can be successful even if you keep your 9-5.  Don’t let pride get in the way of progress   Any advice you’d give to someone who’s trying to take a leap away from their current situation where they feel stuck? They’re unsure of what’s on the other side.  Everyday is a new day. Maybe what you’re doing isn’t perfect, but take that step anyways because tomorrow you can course-correct if you need to. Everyday is a new day for you to adjust.  If you’re feeling stuck, just do something and you can always fix it.  If you’re feeling stuck, try unplugging from everything you’re consuming. When Kay is feeling overwhelmed, it helps for her to disconnect from the noise so she can focus on herself and what she wants.  After you decide what you want, run it by your Top 5. Who are your top 5 people whose opinion matters most to you? It’s Time To Meet Your Intuition

The world is different now than it was before the pandemic. We may have run ourselves ragged and are dealing with some serious burnout. We might be saying ‘yes’ to everything to try to make up for lost time. There’s a ton of pressure right now, but J.Go is here to take the pressure off and help you figure out what YOU need. Chances are, you need to protect your energy.  Short Exercise: What is something you learned about yourself from the pandemic that you no longer care to do? Anything that you will no longer put up with? Write it down and share (if you want!) to @JgoFitLife on Instagram.  For J.Go, she used to have really bad FOMO. She now wants to be more choosy about how she spends her time.  - She has a lot of goals, and wants her actions and mindset to align with them  Surround Yourself With Support:  - It’s important to surround yourself with support. Who we surround ourselves with in the next couple of months is going to determine whether or not we reach our potential. “ - If you’re in a negative space and people aren’t supportive, try to take yourself out of it or take some time to be around people who are supportive.  YOU Set the Temperature - In order to reach full potential you have to protect your energy.  - Try to maintain a higher vibration.  - You want to set the temperature of the room, and don’t let yourself be affected by any negative energy when you enter a room. - If you’re able to fill up your cup before entering some low-vibration environments, it can make a big difference.  The Post-Quarantine Comedown: 4 Scenarios Post Quarantine Comedown:  You might realize you need more time for yourself.  You’ve gotten accustomed to spending time alone at your house.  Don’t lose the self care habits that you created.  Recognize the things that you need and incorporate them into your life. Quarantine Compensating:  Stop keeping up with the Joneses. Do what’s right for you.  People are sharing their highlight reels again and you might start comparing your life to someone else’s.  If you find yourself feeling insignificant, get out of that environment and take a break from that space. Put your phone away and go for a walk or do some grounding (sit with your feet in the dirt, breath, and think about “what is it that I need today? What does my highest self need?”)  Don’t feel pressure to compensate for the entire time you weren’t able to do anything.  Don’t post things or do things just because you feel obligated to.  Think: Am I really doing this for myself? Figure out what’s best for you and don’t do what everyone else is doing.  Post Pandemic Pressure:  We’ve all seen Hot Girl Summer. Everyone is talking about coming into summer having lost weight.  If you gained weight, you should NOT feel guilty. Feel proud that you didn’t give up on yourself.  It’s just a number. It’s just your weight. It doesn’t define your worth.  If you want to go out and do things, don’t let your weight hold you back.  Instead of getting down on the number on the scale, ask yourself, “Is this something I need to recognize in my mindset? Are there parts of my lifestyle that I want to change?”  If you want to start doing some health-positive things, see it as an act of self love, instead of an act of self loathing or punishing yourself for gaining weight.  There’s a lot of pressure around “Hot Girl Summer”. There’s an expectation of success and glow-ups. Don’t get caught up in other people’s success stories.  People are dealing with weight gain, anxiety, overwhelm, and burnout.  There’s a cycle of compensation. People feel bad, they compensate by showing a highlight reel. People consume this, and feel guilt and shame.  We’re not being real about the shit we’re working through. It’s a false narrative that’s holding us back.  - Jordan is still recognizing that she’s healing from this past year. You’re allowed to celebrate this summer and life but still hold space for healing and for grieving.  - Some days you’re going to feel down, some days you're going to feel confident. It’s ok to allow room for the ups and downs.  See the temperature of your life like an oven. The temperature of an oven fluctuates above and below the number you set. You can consciously set the temp of your life, but remember it won’t be that way 100% of the time. Allow the ups and downs. In fact, don’t see the harder moments as “downs” or as failure, see it as growth. It’s part of the journey. Once you see that, growth can happen.  Post Quarantine Growth:  Maybe you’ve seen a lot of growth in yourself and in the people you’re around.  You might have clarity that you need a change in your life. You might have the correct mindset, and see that growth needs to happen, but you’re scared.  You might need to change your environment or your habits. You might know that things around you are no longer serving you. If you want an environment to grow in, you can’t avoid hard conversations.  Avoidance is not growth. Vulnerability is.  Allow space for growth and recognize that that growth is uncomfortable. It’s not about perfection, it’s about creating progress and loving yourself through all chapters of your life.  You might be struggling to keep your energy up. It’s OK if you don’t feel great. Slowly do things to prioritize yourself. Think about what you need each day.  You don’t have to keep saying yes to everyone and everything. You’re worthy of taking time each week to focus on you.  Everyone has their own struggles.  Everyone’s journey will look different. Connect with Jordan: @JgoFitLife https://www.instagram.com/jgofitlife Apply to be a part of my Body Confident Blueprint coaching program: https://www.jgofitlife.com/bcb Register for my GoRetreat happening September 2021! https://www.jgofitlife.com/retreat Upon entering the last year of her 20’s, Jordan reflects on the past ten years.  10 Years Ago: - Think about where you were ten years ago, be thankful for where you were and what formed you.  - Jordan was finishing up her first year at UNCW, It wasn’t her first choice, but it was the best year ever. - If she had gotten what she thought she wanted, life would have looked a lot different.  - She wouldn’t have gotten the experience of being away. She got some independence.  - Mentally, she was still dieting all the time, restricting herself, and doing lots of cardio - She was stuck in a state of comparison and more self conscious than ever.  What would she say to her 19 year old self?  - Stop stressing about grades, keep focusing on loving your body and getting stronger, and be present in everything. Embrace the uncomfortable, and you’re gonna be fine.  - When you’re in it, it’s easy to get caught up in the details. Jordan remembers being worried all the time, but doesn’t remember what about. Over the past decade, she’s learned to let that go.  Reflect on Accomplishments:  - It’s easy to be hard on yourself when you’re looking back, but it’s important to see all the places where you have grown and accomplished something. Everything that has happened has led you to where you are now.  - In the past decade Jordan grew closer to her family, got a job that taught her a lot, quit that job, traveled the world, opened an LLC, and learned the truth behind ‘fake it til you make it’.  - You may think you’re “faking it”, but the truth is, your most confident self is already within you, you’re just tapping into that energy. It’s not outside of you, it’s already within you.  - During a tarot reading with a client, and psychic, Jordan was told she would “turn fitness on its back”.  Connect with your values: - When you’re working towards a vision for your future, don’t focus on the details of the ‘how’, focus on the “why” and the values behind the “why” - Jordan shifting towards understanding her values and it changed how she ran her business - Think about your values and what really matters. We’re chasing these ‘check boxes’ without really thinking if they align with our values. If they don’t, they won’t bring us any sense of fulfillment.  - Jordan’s values are: Adventure, Integrity, Connection, Growth, Confidence, Love, Family, Fun, Consciousness, and Impact - Ask yourself ‘why’ and connect it to your values. Stay rooted in them, and don’t do things just because you think that’s what you’re supposed to do.  What will the next 10 years look like for Jordan?  - The Confidently Uncomfortable Podcast will grow - Body Confident Blueprint program will impact more women - TrainingNAKED workouts will expand - GO Retreat will be a success and lead to other retreats - More travel around the world - She’ll have kids and maybe a house - She’ll speak at more events - Feeling even more amazing in her own skin Death Bed Meditation: - Picture yourself on your deathbed. Think about that future self, whatever is stressing you out right now, ask yourself now and in the future “Will this matter in 5 years? 10 years?”  - You’ve survived everything and you feel overall gratitude for everything you’ve had in your life. What does his version of yourself have to say with you? What’s she telling you to let go of, what’s the saying to focus on? What are your values?  - What can you do today to show up for your highest self? Start acting like her and you’ll be unstoppable.  - “Wherever  you're at, whatever your circumstances, there’s some way you can show up for your highest self a little bit more.”

She didn’t feel super confident when teaching classes. She didn’t feel like she fit the “fitness instructor” mold. - Patience dealt with disordered eating and body issues. - She didn’t want to turn 40 with this taking up so much space in her life. She was committed to working on herself.  What was your experience with the program? And what was it like going back into the world? - Patience is not woo woo, but she found value in journaling and meditation.  - She was going 150% and needed to take time to ground and center herself. - She established a routine which she kept up over a year later.  - She questioned whether or not she was meant to be in the fitness space, and got confidence out of BCB.  - When she has bad body image days, she’s now able to shift this perspective and remember that it doesn’t really matter. How else is she showing up confidently? What are some things she’s really proud of?  - She’s an introvert, so showing up on social media, being vulnerable, and sharing her story is a big deal for her. She wants her story to help other people.  - Patience used to view her empathy as a weakness, but is now embracing it. She can connect with more students and help them feel comfortable.  - Empathy is needed in the fitness industry, and it’s something unique she can bring to the table.  She felt the calling to teach, how was she able to trust herself and follow her purpose? - She really loved teaching and couldn’t stop thinking about it, so she got her personal training certificate.  - If you hear a little voice saying “what if you can?” you need to go for it.  - What you’re spending your time thinking about and planning is what you need to be doing.  Advice for the next round of Body Confident Blueprint? - Don’t have expectations and be open. Open mind, open heart and be receptive to learning things, even the things that will be hard to learn about yourself. Those lessons are meaningful and if you can take the time to put everything you have into this, you’ll get ten fold out of it.

Erin held a lot of limiting beliefs around food that were holding her back.  - She was eating less than she was supposed to, and was used to living life with restriction.  She didn’t want to start another diet, so how did she get over that?  - She was hesitant at first about using My Fitness Pal again, but it all comes down to the “why”. It’s about education, not restriction. She was able to move forward from a place of empowerment and let go of the need to lose weight.  - Being vulnerable and letting go is part of the journey, even though it’s a group coaching program, J.Go has been supporting and present the entire time.  - The program is unique to every person, and Erin could decide what works best for her. - When she was feeling triggered, she learned to recognize that part of herself. The part that’s hurting is the part that needs love.  - She built her routine and is now in the practice of radically taking care of herself.  How was the experience throughout BCB? Biggest wins during the program?  - Finding the balance between being a mom and an entrepreneur.  - Establishing a routine.  - Prioritizing movement. What do you feel makes BCB different from anything you’ve tried in the past?  - Tailored to you and what you want to get out of it. Everyone has different intentions.  - The support is huge. It’s group coaching, but we still have one on one access to Jordan. - It’s not all black and white. This program helped go back to the basics.

She created a space she didn’t see before; a space that is welcoming to all women.  - Her mission is to allow women to see the possibilities for themselves. No matter where they came from, what they’ve done, or what shame they hold on to. She represents women who don’t have it all together and can still be successful.    Rachel’s Story - She had a strong support system until her dad passed when she was 16.  - Senior year was really lonely, confused, angry; but on the outside she tried to keep it all together. She had no basis for a belief system outside of herself, meaning she wasn’t spiritual or religious. Without any framework, she spiraled.  - In college, she pretended everything was OK with no direction or sense of self. She was abusing drugs and alcohol, and was in a bad relationship.  - After she, Rachel worked a corporate job in sales, putting on a mask and pushing through her pain and brokenness.  - On workdays she worked a lot, on the weekends she turned to drugs. She felt a lot of shame. She felt as if she was running on a hamster wheel she couldn't get off of. She wanted time to stop and rest. - Ever since her dad passed away, Rachel heard a voice in her head saying “This won’t be all for nothing,” and she knew she was going to do something with her life. At this point in time, she ignored it.    A Wake Up Call - A few years ago, Rachel heard the voice again, “you need to stop, you’re going to kill yourself. Make something out of this”. - She was in a freak accident, blew out her knee, and was forced to take medical leave from her job, move in with her mom, and get sober.  - An epiphany: “I got everything I asked for. Time stopped for me.”  - “I decided, I can either go on like this and in 3 months have nothing to show for it. Go back to my job, my friends, go back to this life I fucking hate. And have wasted this gift. Or I can sit here in bed and change my life. And that’s exactly what I did.”  - “It didn’t start big. It didn’t start knowing where the hell this is going. I took my computer in this fleeting moment of faith and I googled “How to be happy””.  - Rachel learned all she could about successful people. She wanted to be an entrepreneur, and joined her first life coaching program. She quit her job, left her friends and her relationship, and started the Lash Lounge. - She knew she would be lonely for a few months while she transitioned. Through the hard times she remembered the voice saying, “This won’t all be for nothing”.  - A year later, she shared her story, which brought her to coaching. Her community grew as she became more vulnerable.  - At this point, she owns 3 businesses, has amazing people around her, and feels good about where life is going.    Do it Anyway - Sometimes there are things calling us and we choose to ignore it, but it will always come back. She chose to let it guide her. The fear of the unknown didn’t scare her. - It’s OK to trust it even if you don’t know. You can know and feel you’re meant for more.   - The epiphany was a fleeting moment, a spark of faith. If she hadn’t taken action in that 5 second window before she talked herself out of it, she wouldn’t be where she is. She did this through the fear. She was afraid. She was terrified all the time.  - “You just figure it out as you go and build that mental muscle of being able to show up through not knowing the steps”.  - “Things aren’t gonna change until we change them within ourselves.” - Had a drive to change because she had nothing else to lose, but you don’t need to reach rock bottom before you make a change.    Advice for people who feel stuck in an environment and want to shift?  - It’s important to grounding yourself in an environment that allows you to flourish.  - She was very afraid of being alone. Our primitive brain tells us that if we lose our pack, we’ll die. - Rachel learned to let herself off the hook for the ways she hadn’t walked away before. There’s a shame of not leaving, a lot of emotions attached to our actions.  Release yourself from the expectation and realize, “it’s just my humanness here, and I can consciously make a decision.” - There’s a common limiting belief of “I cannot make friends outside of college.” - “There’s an entire world out there that you can be a part of if you chose to make different decisions”.  - She mentally prepared herself for ripping off the bandaid. More can’t come in if you’re already energetically attracting things you don’t want.  - “You have to trust that there’s an entire world out there waiting for you if you’re willing to go find it. Approach it with a playful curiosity. Think Hmm what could I do differently?” - Do something different. Join different groups, go to different coffee shops. You’ll gain confidence by showing up.    Release and Do Things Differently - If you’re putting energy into things you don’t want more of, nothing will change.  - You don’t need to add things on, sometimes you need to rest and let go.   - You have to take a step back, slowly, pull yourself back to propel yourself forward. You’ll go much faster if you do that. otherwise you’ll burn yourself out. You have to give yourself permission to slow down, take time for yourself, and be by yourself.  - Rachel hated being by herself. Didn’t want to be aware of her thoughts when she was by herself. Often looked for distraction and ways to occupy her brain.  - “You’ll be able to grow faster when you stop avoiding yourself and clear that space for you to be. Then you’ll call in the right things. “ - People are afraid of where they fit in. They think, “I’m not interesting enough” and that they don’t fit in.     On getting into business and online space: - About a year into her self development work (not spirituality), she made connections with some entrepreneurs but had no framework for how online business worked. No understanding of how to make money, and was very impressionable.  - She wanted to empower women to speak about mindset principles. How you transition from shame and things that hold you back, and how to shift those. She heard somewhere that you can’t make money as a mindset coach. This spoke into her fear.  - Everyone was asking her about her social media. She loves the creative side. People asked her how she did things around that. They said she was inspiring, but then they were more interested in the social media presence.  - She abandoned herself and her mission to do social media coaching. It worked, and made lots of money pretty quickly because she’s good at it.  - She wasn’t happy because it wasn’t authentic to her, and felt trapped again.  - She pulled the plug on the whole thing. It wasn’t her and didn’t feel good.  - She took a small step back and assessed what she’s done and the life she wants.  - She wants to be a coach, but knows she’s a hot mess. She’s not all buttoned up and didn’t feel authentic being in the ‘box’ of the mindset coach. She didn’t feel like she could be a coach because coaches have the “perfect mindset”  - Looked for her identity in another place and found spirituality. Followed spiritual entrepreneurs. Not as “woo” as everyone else. She approaches with skepticism.  - Recently, she decided to step into where she is. Found the women just like her. Not fully ‘woo’ but still mindful and spiritual. They don’t have it all together, but mindset has helped them. They still want to be successful but I don't feel perfect.  - She built her brand around that, it feels the most authentic and it’s truly her. “Took taking steps back constantly, swallowing my ego and my pride, restarting over and over again until I got to this spot. “   What’s in the Future? - Rachel is launching a podcast in May 202, “Manifestation, Men and Money” - She plans on hosting mastermind retreats

Some food rules I heard were “Rolls make Rolls” and that rice and corn were for pigs. - When we go against these engrained “rules’ it leads to guilt, shame, and even actions if you ever feel full.  - If you’re struggling with these things and taking action, please seek professional help. - Other rules we’ve heard: - “You’re not supposed to feel full, you’re always supposed to feel a little hungry”. - Quick fixes exist - All fat is bad -  Restrict calories extremely - Food as a reward, treat it as a treat - If you ‘eat bad’ you need to punish your body (cardio, disordered eating, guilt) - Carbs are bad - If you want to lose weight don’t eat - Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.  - Food as Fuel: no cheat days and no snacks. If you approach food that way, you’re missing out on life. You focus on what you cannot eat.  - Things we’re being taught because our worth was tied to fitting into a smaller size.  - IF you center weight loss around the ideas society tells us, that’s BS. You’ll be unsatisfied if you lose weight for someone else.  - You can’t say ‘no’ to every experience that revolves around food.    Knowledge is your Power - If you know the truth around these “rules”, you can break up with the “good” and “bad” foods, and break up with the rules. - When you have knowledge, you can become an active particpant in your choices. - Understanding macro nutrients gives you the way to find balance within your body.   The Truth About Diets and Programs - All these fad diets are designed for you to fail.  - Many are old diets that are repackaged with ‘hot phrases’. Weight watchers, adkins, south beach, keto, etc.  - They want you to fail, becuase then you’ll come back and spend more money. The finger is turned on you for not being ‘disciplined’ enough. That’s BS. - All these diets are a short term solution.  - The long term solution lies in solving the underlying issues of mindset and habit.  - The answer is NOT cutting everything out of your diet. When you do that, you’re unhappy and frustrated.  - Companies profit off of your insecurities.    The Diet Cycle - Fad diets and programs cause a cycle of miserable-ness. - You feel shame, restrict yourself, binge, feel guilty and shame, and restrict yourself again. You feel out of control and trapped in this cycle.    How to Break the Cycle - Rules don’t work. They keep you in the “restrict, binge, guilt” cycle. - Break up with the Rules and Mindless Eating - The rules say “Food and Fuel” and “Stop Emotional Eating”. I call BS again.  -  Having emotion attached to food is not bad. Feel thankful that your body is getting food and you’re creating energy. You can show yourself love, and others love, through the food you’re eating.  - Let’s focus on what matters to you when it comes to food. What makes you happy? Incorporate those into your diet. - Once you know what you want, you can find a balance that works for you. I do 80/20. I focus on whole foods and high protein and fiber. My 20 percent is the food that’s more than just fuel. I call this “soul food”.    Personal Example: Ice Cream - I used to struggle with eating an entire pint of Ben and Jerry’s by myself. I felt guilty and ashamed, I sometimes made myself get sick afterwards.  - My solution was to get ice cream out of the house. - This did not work. I found ways to justify it, like “I NEVER have this.”  - New Solution: I found a new option. Instead of feeling guilty, I found Halo Top ice cream. Eating a whole pint was more doable. - Next step: Intentionally choosing how much I’d eat in one sitting. Putting it in a bowl, adding fruit, and enjoying it. I was no longer shame eating.  - The Result: I developed a better relationship with ice cream. I got used to having it in the freezer and not eating it all the time just because it was there. I could switch back to Ben and Jerry’s again.  - By taking the time to step back and get intentional, I recognized something about myself. Later at night, I don’t make good choices. Now, I try to have dessert earlier in the evening so I am actively eating it and breaking up with ‘mindless eating’. I gained more knowledge about myself, and therefore more power.    -  Knowledge is power. It’s very helpful to know what you’re putting in and understand macros before you can switch to intuitive eating.

There was an opportunity here to be themselves and preach a different message of confidence and self-acceptance.  What made them decide to take the leap?   - If you don’t see someone else doing it, you could fill that role. Ask yourself, What am I waiting for? Why am I holding back? It’s easy to get caught up in comparison.  What does representation mean for you?   -  When you don’t see anyone else doing it, you don’t think it’s possible. They’re moving for the joy of it, and showing others that it is possible to workout without the end goal being weight loss.  - By living their truth and sharing it on their platform, they’re showing people that they are free to live in this way. You can feel safe, confident, powerful, sexy after a workout.  -Instead of letting “there are very few women of color who own fitness businesses” keep Dani  Dom from starting they used it as inspiration to BE THAT REPRESENTATION - Their approach to their classes was about more than just inclusion in the fitness industry but creating a class environment that felt safe!   What lessons have you learned along the way?  -  There are pitfalls, and you pivot instead of falling. At the end of it, you’re happy that you kept going.  - A lot of people fear the unknown. The “What ifs”. You can’t let those stop you.  Biggest takeaways from this experience:  Even if you’re scared, do it anyways. Your mess is someone’s amazing. Just go for it.
