He also talks about the importance of clarity – having a clear understanding of who you are and what you want to do. We discuss one of the most common mistakes of those who write their copy or blogs which is putting themselves in the centre of the picture, rather than prioritising the readers; the people they are trying to reach out to. He lists three most common “mistakes” which are: They prioritise creating a list of the services they provide, leading to; Lose their unique value proposition Neglect their value proposition We also covered how businesses would basically just talk about a lot of things about themselves in their websites, when in fact what they really need is to find out how they could be of value to their target market. Martin touched on the importance of selling the “Sizzle, not the sausage” – which can be said as selling the benefits, not the features. This if often an effective mantra in sales. Martin also points out that more than performing a SWOT analysis on yourself, it is also important that you question yourself what your SWOT analysis is not about what you do, rather, it is about. Value proposition is not about what you do, but the needs or wants that you are trying to meet. We discussed the importance of staying authentic in your writings at the same time selective of what you say. People need not to know about things that are irrelevant to them. Martin also shared in which areas do people normally go wrong when writing their copy, which includes: Not having any strategy, i.e. when they are going to write, how often should they write, and or what they should write about. Although it is okay to post some content not directly related to your business as it would show who you really are, you have to be mindful as to not rub your audience the wrong way. Too neglectful of spelling, and other grammatical errors. We also discussed the importance of letting an expert help you with areas that you know you may be lacking. In this week’s podcast, I interviewed Lee Jackson – an international motivational speaker and presentation coach who has written 12 books and since 2017, he has been the president of the Professional Speaking Association in the UK and Ireland. Both Lee and I understand the power of presentation as a tool in getting our messages across to our existing and potential clients and today we talk about some valuable tips and tricks to up our presentation game! He also talked about how during presentations we need to remember that our SLIDES are never our TALKS. You are the SLIDES, not the TALK and also how important it is to be confident and not hide behind your laptops when doing your presentations. Lastly, Lee shares with us 3 top tips and tricks on how we can improve our presentation skills. They are: Get to the CORE of your message – Figure out what you really want to say. Tell more stories – engage with your audience! EP029 - How to Get Good at Presenting with Lee Jackson

In this episode I sat down with Rob Sayles, a DIGITAL marketing expert (who is also backed with over 20 years of marketing experience) who runs a Facebook academy on top of coaching, mentoring and developing businesses and today we get to talk about Facebook as a powerful tool in business. Rob shares how Facebook is the biggest social media platform, far bigger than Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. as well as how it has evolved over the years since it first came out. We talked about how the platform has matured and has become a very effective tool that one can use for both personal and business use. Rob also touched on the Facebook algorithm – how it works, weeds through the content of the users post to determines which ones are relevant. He also shared Facebook’s plans on improving the platform. We tackled how Facebook and any online platforms for that matter, are harvesting data about how you use the platform and this data creates a database which can be used by businesses very effectively. Rob talked about how Facebook can help you organically grow your audience without the use of Facebook ads by harnessing Facebook pages, and groups. Rob also shares the two primary methods of how his business is able to help others: Establish Brand Awareness – helping a client build his brand awareness (on Facebook) through organic method i.e. making use of pages and groups, and creating “interesting” contents. Using Facebook’s Paid Products – effectively using ads, etc. to reach new audiences. In this episode, we also discussed how Facebook Retargeting works and how a cold lead is transformed into warmer leads as it goes down through the sales funnel. Rob explains how Facebook Pixel fits into this. In today’s episode, we also get to hear Rob’s adventure when he was invited by Facebook to attend an event in Brussels recently.
