Just when you think you have your child figured out, another curveball is thrown your way. Are you expecting too much or too little? Trying to eat healthy is nothing compared to figuring out if your child is putting you and dad against each other, or are you going to be best friends for an evening. You roll your eyes. But you know. There are times where you wake up knowing you are walking into a minefield. You don't know when or where someone's going to go off. And once you think you have it all figured out, think again! The rules change and you didn't even get a text or email. This my friend is real-life living!  But you don't have to drudge this season in your life. Believe it or not, this too shall pass. And eventually, it will seem like just a speed bump in your every day. However, until then, what can you and I do? You gotta level the playing field. The K.I.S.S. ~ L.e.v.e.l. the playing field! Here is where you neutralize all excuses that your child can come up with.  It's more from the attitude of "Leave everything vague expecting little." And what I mean by that is we as parents put a TON of pressure on ourselves when it comes to how our children act or live their life.  Yes, of course, we have influence. But regardless of the age, you nor I can control our children. We can set up parameters, but even those will be tested. So instead of getting yourself all worked up, "Leave everything vague expecting little." It's not about you, but about them. - Your child is going to have similar traits and characteristics to you. But that doesn't mean your child is you. So be cautious about pre-imposing what you think before what they know. You are playing on the same team. - Parenting is not about you versus them. Even though at times, you feel that way for sure. You want what's best and they do too. However, it's how they see it with their closed-minded experiences. And what I mean by that is children tend to channel one direction. It's a one-way street in their mind.  What happens is not a reflection on you. - Now if we are honest, we know this not to be true. But if you want to be extremely realistic, you are doing your best. Your child gets to decide as they get older. Some decisions will work out amazingly, and others you will question for seasons to come. But this is called life. You do your best to parent and show your child right from wrong. Raise them up to see opportunities and possibilities. Listen when they want to talk and be short with your answers when you are questioned as to, "What would you do?" How much would it mean to you to walk on sunshine? That explosive feeling that says you're alive and can conquer anything that comes your way. Let your health shine! There are many ways that you and I benefit from being outside.  Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? And that walking has opened so many doors for me.  What is crazy is how much we say we can't do, when it really comes down to making time for what matters. You are not getting any younger. And your health is going to take more work and effort on your part than it did a decade or two ago. So today, I want you to look at your health differently. I don't want you to see what an exercise or piece of food can give your body, but what you can give in your every day. With the seasons changing, don't let the weather inhibit your healthy lifestyle. The K.I.S.S. ~ Walk in A.W.E.! You have the gift of today. Why wait until you get the bad news before you make a change? Why complain while in the pain?  Find a way out! When you walk in the A.W.E., you have ... AWARENESS - You have to see what is around you. Know your season. Understand your hang-ups. Change from temptations to actions. "Action ignites motivation." ~ Kristianne Wargo   WONDER - Wonder is a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable. 2475 Tomorrow Is Not Today

There's no reason to be trapped in all the busyness and chaos of life. You were not created to run all day feeling tired and exhausted, forgetful and frazzled. Find margin in the busyness of life. When you keep tied to the demands of this world with no boundaries, overwhelm ultimately will continue to rule your day and your dreams. Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT It becomes overcrowded with busyness and overscheduling leaving no room in your day for the unexpected or for the opportunities. However, with margin built-in to the busyness of life, you can live a more vibrant and productive life. Dreams do come true with margin! Look at how margin is defined. As Richard Swenson {Margin, NavPress, 2014} explains, "Margin is the space between our load and our limits. It is the amount allowed beyond that which is needed. It is something held in reserve for contingencies or unanticipated situations. Margin is the gap between rest and exhaustion, the space between breathing freely and suffocating." Margin is the opposite of overload. If we are overloaded, we have no margin...If we were equipped with a flashing light to indicate "100 percent full," we could better gauge our capacities. But we don't have such an indicator light, and we don't know when we have overextended until we feel the pain. As a result, many people commit to a 120 percent life and wonder why the burden feels so heavy. It is rare to see a life prescheduled to only 80 percent, leaving a margin for responding to the unexpected that God sends our way. What is your capacity running at right this minute? Are you already running on empty before you even started? Living life without margins buries dreams and crushes hearts. It places God's design for your life on hold. It breaks my heart to see people chasing what they want for fear of missing out. Yet what is really meant for them is a dream they will never see, because of the fear they've built-in with busyness, exhaustion, and daily stress. Stop this madness and make a choice to live a life open to the love God wants you to experience. The love that explodes your heart with joy. The love that extends beyond your own strength. The love that surpasses all your knowledge. Margin gives you the gift of life. Do you want the gift of life? Let's create margin. The K.I.S.S. ~ Create margin in your every day! Identify your season. This is going to help set your priorities. "Dream. Do. Delay." ~ Kristianne Wargo Schedule the must-dos of the week. What are your priorities? And keep in mind that includes your responsibilities. If you can't get your responsibilities done, how can you add more to your plate? Fill the gaps less 20%. If you look at an hour, 20% of 60 minutes is 12 minutes. Take that and multiply it by 15 hours, you get 180 minutes which is equal to 3 hours. Imagine what you can do in 3 hours. Now you will not get it right the first time. Give yourself permission to make adjustments and refinements to your daily, weekly, monthly schedule. Margin is within your reach. You decide how much you want to keep living the life of overwhelm and stress, or giving yourself breath. CHALLENGE: What's the capacity you are running your day? 2473 Clothed in Majesty

When you judge, you intersect what's possible with boundaries. Be careful not to impose. There's no room for disappointment.  In marriage, we can set up our spouses for failure or success. And regardless of which side of the fork is chosen, there's always room for disappointment. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT But how unfair is that of us to make room for disappointment and not support? You vowed "for better or worse", not what's works for you. Now I get that's strong language and very direct. Yet if you desire a strong marriage, you have to look at where you are coming from. And if that's a disappointment, for whatever reason, that is selfish. There's more than one way to skin a cat (and I have 3 cats so there will not be any skinning). However, understand beyond what you experience.  The K.I.S.S. ~ Understand beyond what you experience! When you give yourself permission to see what your spouse sees, it's then you will come to understand the decision. And this is hard.  Discuss openly with honesty. You don't have all the answers. And because it takes two to tango, each of you will have your own opinion or perspective. So discuss openly with honesty. Show respect by asking questions. This is where you can show how much you care by clarifying and asking questions. You don't have all the answers. And when 2 or more are involved in the decisions, all need to be heard. Be present with patience. Listen before you judge. Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater, so to speak. Let your focus be on what is being said, the facts, versus what you are feeling. Compromise isn't one-sided.  CHALLENGE: What area in your marriage do you need to relax your boundaries and know-it-all, therefore relinquishing your disappointment and instilling belief and possibility? 2472 No Room for Disappointment

What do you do when your child doesn't get it; the next steps in life? Stop pulling your hair out and understand your child's perspective.   Be the guide in your child's life. And that means you don't have to have all the answers or act like you do. Come as you are. Whether or not we want to admit it, we can be overbearing. To some degree, that is our responsibility. But on the other hand, we are called to let them experience life through their eyes.  So tough!!  However, you can be still very involved and point them in the right direction. It takes just a little skill and preparation. Ask more than you answer. The K.I.S.S. ~ Ask more than you answer! You probably have a vast amount of knowledge. And you definitely know what's best for your child.  But your child needs to know what's best from his/her perspective. It's not about what you know, but what he/she knows. Ask more than you answer! Flex your questioning muscles. Questions assist your child in his/her thoughts. The more questions your child can answer, the clearer the situation at hand. It's all about clarity. Without clarity, there's confusion. And confusion only leads to no or little action. Help your child see what can be achieved. Help your child paint a realistic picture of what is possible. Your experiences will help him/her in this area. But be cautious. It's not about you. Let presence be your focus. It's not about you. Now, you know this, but your child doesn't always see it or believe it in the moment. When you're present, you are less likely to trip over your words and let your child walk through the forest of confusion. CHALLENGE: What area in your child's life needs more questions than answers? 2470 Choose Happy!

There are days when one side feels better than the other side of your body. Learn how to offset your core to stabilize more. That's where imbalance encourages balance.  One of the most important gifts you can give your body is a strong, stable core. As we age, our core is one of the first areas that begin to weaken. Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT If you can maintain a strong core, your back will also be stronger, therefore, allowing you to keep your strength beyond your 30s and 40s. When training, the simplest movements can be the most effective. It's easy to complicate our workouts.  So let's simplify. Add offset training to your regimen. The K.I.S.S. ~ Add offset training! There are many benefits to offset training. But first, what is it? Offset training/loading is a method where you lift a weight that is heavier on one side than it is on the other. This engages your stabilizer muscles specifically the hips and core. What are those benefits? Exposes and helps to fix imbalances and asymmetries. Our bodies are magnificent. When you do an exercise equal on both sides, usually the dominant side will work harder. This helps you find your weaker muscles and gain balance over time. Effective for core strength and spinal stabilization.  Helps to improve the mechanics by eliminating the jerky and momentum movements. Improves your form which enhances your results. With better mechanics comes better form. Target specific muscles. Enhances and challenges your mind and body. This is mental fitness. Slow and go -- no multitasking. Concentration is required. Improves balance, coordination, and motor control. These are just to name a few. Slow down in order to speed up. Here's a sample movement you can add to your regimen or do it as a stand-alone movement. Equipment: Weight for one hand; nothing in the opposite hand. Move slowly with intention.  Squeeze the hand holding the weight. Extend the free hand to the side while making a fist and squeezing.   Leg kicks for 10-20 reps. Alternate legs, and move slowly. For an additional challenge, hold for a 2-3 second balance.  Breathe through the nose out through the mouth. Remain stable with as little movement through the body as possible. Repeat on the opposite side.  CHALLENGE: You can place the weight in front of your shoulder or raise it straight above your head. The slower, the better. This is how you offset your core to stabilize more. "Train for life. Are you wishing your life was different? You can have many blessings, but still want something more from your situation. Don't run away and hide. What does this make possible? Doom and gloom is not the way to address your day. You have to start changing how you are attaching yourself to feelings instead of looking at the facts. But if your focus is only doing life when you feel good, it's no wonder you don't feel good. Most of the time we don't hang onto the good stuff. But that does not have to be your story.  You can rise above with some effort on your part. Examine with honesty. When you are in the thick of things, it's easy to get entangled with what is. 2466 Change Your Heart

Control makes life very sloppy and complicated. We desire to dictate with the goal to maintain order. But does it work? Out of my hands and into your heart. But in reality, that order is disjointed and falls flat. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT The one thing that is accomplished is more stress and tension in the relationship. Life already has claimed that spot. Instead of clinging with a death grip, release that which controls you. Out of my hands and into your heart. Here is where you learn to love with your hands, palms up instead of clenched fists. The K.I.S.S. ~ Love with your hands, palms up! Clinching stimulates only what you can see and only what you feel. It discounts your spouse's needs and wants. That's not a partnership. Serve with palms open. This keeps your focus on what you can control and turns the focus to who you serve. It also helps to minimize the selfishness tendency we have as human beings.  Ask one question. "What can I do for you today?" Don't be tempted to fill in or prep with your thoughts. Ask the question and wait for the answer. See the heart. When we care, we can judge and criticize more often thinking that we are helping. Be careful not to point out his/her mistakes or shortcomings. See his heart. Where is he/she trying to make a difference? Point out what you want to see more of. Let the mistakes fall away. Every day is a new day. What happens today will not be repeated. Today is for a limited time only. Tune out so you can tune in. What should have you already done today? Celebrating my grandson's first birthday really puts things in perspective about truly how fast time flies whether you're having fun or not. Time moved fast when I was in the middle of our parenting wars. But it wasn't about noticing the time and how fast it flew by. It was all about survival of the fittest.  That was definitely living with intention. Be specific to the season. It's easy to overstep our boundaries. I do it all the time with good intentions. But taking AIM on what matters in the season you're in help to pinpoint the goal at hand. Draw from others. You don't have to have all the answers. Gain mentorship from those who have gone before you or experienced a similar situation. Trust your gut and heart. If you are getting that unsettle feeling or "you just know," explore that a little more. Sometimes we overthink that it stifles the next step. Life doesn't have to be difficult, just intentional. So capture this season with joy in your heart. Latch onto what's possible and the goal at hand. Your LIMITED TIME ONLY is a privilege and honor. Don't let it pass you by. You wouldn't miss a sale at your favorite store. Hopefully, your family is your favorite store. So lock onto those deals to better serve, love, and forgiven. Create your now.
